MOKSHAH – the word ‘unique’ has been beaten up, raped and passed around so much the old gal has virtually shrivelled up and laid herself down to die. But, maybe there is hope for her yet as Mokshah storm onto the Nottingham music scene with the full intention to breathe life back into a word that had almost lost all meaning and purpose.

An intriguing mix of Psychedelia and Punk reminiscent of the days of The Stranglers and Ian Dury, and yet even name dropping bands such as those could not prepare your ears for this newest of ‘New Wave’

Just when you think you roughly have them sussed, the next track will sweep you off your feet and get you re-thinking before you ever truly thought.

Bring in the weirder side of Kula Shaker and a good splash of 90’s pop and you are getting close. Had these folks been around in The ‘Madchester’ era, I don’t think we’d be reading about The Happy Monday’s today. Not to leave out grunge influences crossed with the hazy-wavy of the late 60’s/early 70’s.

Having said all i have, it’s hard to imagine being able to dance to a band that don’t seem to want sniff the surface of a genre, au contraire the entire room was moving along to the groove the bass and djembe provided perfectly overlaid with sweeping guitars and half crazed backing vocals.

Refreshingly extraordinary. Implausibly danceable. Undeniably catchy. Delightfully bizarre.
