It’s that time of year – the Goose was here, but now it’s gone but Notts music lives on… rhyming wizard here, not at all lame. It’s kicking off again this week in our epic city of musical goodness so prepare your ears for another week of awesome listening, your eyes for more beautiful Notts sights and your fingers… okay maybe not your fingers.

There’s an EP launch at the Bodega, a quirky music and arts festival in Beeston and a wicked headline show at the Rescue Rooms.

SATURDAY

The NME love ‘em (“angsty anthems”), we love ‘em, and so do you guys. So you’ll be happy to know that this Saturday brings us BABE PUNCH’S EP launch at The Bodega. Don’t we all feel a lil angsty especially with the recent economic climate? Or yeah whatever. The Alt Rock gurus had a busy summer playing festivals, including a last minute, epic slot at Splendour, and now they’re finally giving us some raw, tangible music which we can blast on iTunes (if it doesn’t crash) a billion times.

They’ve also got a Notts support act – CAMERON SINCLAIR HARRIS, a singer song-writer who you might know as former front man of the now finished FLEETS. Bringing us the same sorta vibes but with a acoustic, heartfelt lyrical feel. A one man and his guitar feeling, not to be confused with 2 girls and a guitar or one man and his cup. He’s got a proper lively/lovely stage presence, the typa guy you’ll probably wanna take home to your mum but not if I get there first cus my mums proper keen.

Also supporting are Derby band Unqualified Nurse Band and Sheffield band Vultures.

Oxjam is back – after raising a massive £17,050 last year for Oxfam (funny that), the festival is here again with a super eclectic line up. Covering a mega sixteen venues from a Methodist Church, to pubs and bars all in the Beeston vicinity.

Here’s a mini preview of just SOME of the acts playing. You can find the FULL listings HERE.

Fancy something a bit different? Well – acapella harmony band OLDISH SPICE have you covered, Folk music played by 10 spicy men. Spicy Folk – think a carrot wearing a sombrero only slicker and more Notts like. The guys formed in 2011 when they all met at The West Bridgford Social Singers Club but have now decided to brave it on their own.

Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist/nicest human on planet earth –  JOSH KEMP is also playing the event with his soft silky vocals. His music kinda caressers the ears, and other places… With his loop pedal his music rivals that of any band, playing a tonne of finger picking greatness on his guitar.

JASMIN ISAAKA is gonna be there too, playing her Jazzy, Folky Souly sauce, her powerful voice and soulful acoustica make her well worth ya time not to mention her music’s proper ‘sweet like honey’ and her tunes will ‘stick like honey’ too.

Rescue Rooms on Sat is all about GEORGIE; her first headline show with her new band celebrating the release of debut single ‘Company of Thieves’. Having recently signed to Columbia Records, she recorded the single in Virginia (ya know, the usual) and it’s bloody awesome. She’s doing this warmup show in the Red Rooms pre her two massive support tours with JAKE BUGG and Blossoms

G’s voice is relentless and moving at the same time, proclaiming “did I come to your flat with a sign on my back saying screw me over?”… you tell ’em girl! Her music is powerful and full of purpose, the Mansfield gal has got it going ON. Defo one to watch, defo one to go watch on Saturday.
