We could not start this weeks Top Three without pointing out that Nottingham’s wonderboy JAKE BUGG is playing the BIGGEST headline gig by a Nottingham artist ever, at the Arena this Thursday; and we couldn’t be more proud of him. THE SWIINES are supporting as well, so it’s a bit of a homegrown love fest at the arena. It’s nearly sold-out, so hurry up and get your tickets!

Below you can find three other great gigs, that won’t burn an arena sized hole in your pocket. This week has so many amazing gigs going off, it’s been hard to choose just three to recommend. We ended up picking a bit of a variety, so this week you’ll find  the debut live show of one of Nottingham’s hottest bands; a double-whammy EP launch party (with one hell of a line-up), and the last ever gig of one of Notts’ most notorious bands.

GIG ONE

Here’s a gig a lot of you will have been waiting for. Farmyard’s back at Jam Cafe this Friday; and they’ve got a great line-up as per usual. This gig though, will be the debut show of the most voted for artist in our People’s Podcast 2014, the phenomenal retro-poppers that are APRIL TOWERS.

You can also expect some whismical paranoid pop from the boys in I AM LONO. They put on quite a mesmerising live performance, which has earned them plenty of acclaim through the Nottingham music scene. ALASKAN FACTION’s catchy yet intricate Indie-Pop riffs will be rounding off the night, and believe us when we say, you’ll be humming those riffs for days to come!

GIG TWO

REBECCA KING has finally gotten around to releasing a official EP to show off that incredible voice of hers; and to celebrate she’s throwing a big party down at The Lacehouse. Expect to see the Nottingham soulstress dazzle the crowd with songs from her new EP “Unspoken Words” as well as a few crowd favourites too.

But, this is not just Rebecca’s EP launch, oh no! ASHMORE will also be releasing his new EP “Loonyology” at this event too; so expect some great new Hip-Hop Soul from one of the best rappers on the scene.

CHESHIRE & THE CAT will also be bringing an explosion of Jazzy charisma to the stage which is bound to get you dancing; whereas JAMIE MOON’s beautiful Acoustic tunes are bound to leave the room silent with awe. The mysterious ALICE MACEY, will also be performing.

The gig is 7 quid on the door, which believe us is worth it for a line-up of this standard! But, if you want to get in for a mere 4 quid, you can buy your ticket in advance. Hit up the event page for deets!

GIG THREE

ARSE FULL OF CHIPS, one of Nottingham’s most well established bands, have sadly decided to call it a day. This is unfortunate news for the Nottingham music scene, as nothing fills us here at Nusic with more joy, than watching a bunch of lads sing about male genitalia in the buff.

We’re not even gonna try and explain the kind of performance these guys put on, but considering it’s their last ever gig, get on down to The Maze on Saturday and we’re sure you’ll have a right laugh!

There’ll also be support from that mental lot known as KICK THE RABBIT; if you haven’t seen our Future Session with them, then you are missing out! The equally crazy fellas in Monkish will also be performing.

Plus there’s a free buffet. So, it’s worth it either way!
