2012 is finally upon is and this could be the biggest year EVER for the Notts music scene! Therefore dive right in and check out some of these tasty gigs we have lined up for this week.

GIG ONE

First up we have the ROB GREEN – SINGLE LAUNCH live at NOTTINGHAM CONTEMPORARY on Friday the 13th of January.

This gig is compulsory for any fans of the brilliant ROB GREEN and for those who haven’t yet discovered this genius then what a fantastic opportunity to do so! Watch the video for Cardinal (the single being released) here. Rob will be backed by his live band but the entertainment doesn’t stop there. Support will come from the gypsy eastern European kings (who are actually from Nottingham) MANIERE DES BOHEMIANS! This lot consist of 6 young virtuoso musicians who travel around playing the violin, guitar, double bass and accordion whilst dipping in and out of Parisian alleyways and eastern European brothels, absorbing pieces of the colourful lives they meet along the way. Get on your dancing shoes. Also featuring is the constantly awesome NINA SMITH with beatboxer LIPPICOOL who is ranked in the top 3 beatboxers in the UK (according to lesser authority than… his own website!). Unmissable. There will also be a bit of magic on display courtesy of magician Rob Ne’Kros and on the decks (cough, cough) from a DJ with a very shiny head. Check out our ROB GREEN Future Session right here, right now.

DOORS: 8PM
TICKETS: FREE!

GIG TWO

We have another barnstorming gig on the same night with JAKE BUGG & guests at THE GLEE CLUB on Friday the 13th of January.

JAKE BUGG has been going from strength to strength recently with his unique indie/folk sound leading to support slots with musicians as diverse as EXAMPLE and LANA DEL RAY (lucky, lucky bloke!). Outrageously talented guy. His guests for the night will include KARIMA FRANCIS, THE HOLD and Nottingham’s folking fantastic ALEXA HAWKSWORTH. Alexa’s beautiful song writing ability with songs like ‘Pretty Like Bettie Page’ and ‘Superman’ shows haunting but poetic lyrics.

DOORS: 7:45PM
TICKETS: £5

GIG THREE

If that isn’t enough to set off your 2012 to a good start then this next gig will blow your mind…very excited for this! It’s the Rock/Metal Half-Dayer with DEATH OF THIEVES, WIDOWS & more at THE MAZE on Saturday the 14th of January.

This gig is heavy as hell, prepare for a headbanger’s sore neck and plenty of mosh pit bruises on Sunday morning.

WIDOWS‘ have a brutally intense stoner rock sound. Their new album Death Valley Duchess has been on loop on my iTunes ever since I downloaded it. A full speed attack on the ear drums with huge riffs, face melting solos and vocals that would scare Chuck Norris. Proper Rock music.

But the heaviness doesn’t stop there! We also can look forward to alt metal chiefs IMPERIAL CIRCUS. Plus uber loud, punk rock n roll with a fiery sleaziness that goes by the name of JD & THE FDC’S. Plus experimental punk madness from NOISE REPUBLIC. Plus rapid riffs drenched in steely punk attitude from DIRTY BEARD,  the haunting indie vibe of BLINDMOUSE and BLINDSIGHT whose concoction of classic thrash, hardcore and nu-metal infectious lyrics and mach speed guitar solos will burn your eyeballs out.

DO NOT MISS THIS!

DOORS: 5pm – 2.00
TICKETS: £3.50

Yours in Love in New Music,
