A beautiful soul, lots and lots of gin, plus six artists playing the most iconic stage in the city. Get involved. x

WEDNESDAY

The Queen Soulstress of Notts that is YAZMIN LACEY has just released her absolutely stunning sophomore EP ‘When the Sun Dips 90 Degrees’. And to celebrate, she’s throwing a banger of a party down at Rough Trade to celebrate.

If you’re unfamiliar with Yaz…. well, you really need to get familiar! Surfing the line between Jazz and Soul, YL is an incredible vocalist, performer, and songwriter. So much so, Gilles Peterson basically said she’s the next Amy Winehouse a few weeks ago on Radio 6.

The EP is beaut. Her performances are ALWAYS special. Treat yourself. What else are you gonna do on a Wednesday?

SUNDAY

There’s this lil shindig going off at Rock City this Sunday. It’s called the Future Sound of Nottingham. And its intent is simple. Give Notts musicians the opportunity to play iconic stages, in front of some of the biggest audiences of their lives, and industry professionals that can help them.

The finalists this year are (we’re remaining neutral here, so just stating the facts), the Quirk-Pop of EMILY MAKIS, the Electro-Pop of WOLF CLUB, the Indie Rock of PRETTY BABS, the Glam-Rock of THE DANDYLIONS, the Summer Guitar Pop of BEN HAYNES and the Acoustic Folk of LOUIS CROFT. The champ is decided via a mix of Industry Professional vote AND crowd interaction. So yes – you turning up really does change things. And remember, the champ goes on to open the main stage of Splendour too. Full deets on the FB event HERE. See ya down the front.

TRANSPARENCY DECLARATION: As noted in No. 8 of our FAQ’s, we always ‘Editorial Court’ our Top Three Gig choices. Whilst FSN is a Nusic event, we firmly (and fairly) believe the opportunity to see these six Notts artists on the RC main stage, for free, justifies its place in the T3 this week. Honest. x
