The idea being every time we made a new contact or found out details of an important media contact we\u2019d share them with you, no nepotistic only sharing with our mates malarky, we\u2019d share with you, it would then be up to you whether you got off your sexy ass and took advantage. This page of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/press-page\/www.nusic.org.uk\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nusic.org.uk<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is our attempt to bring that resource back.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Below we outline all the local media outlets that can help you, plus we then go on to have a decent go at outlining regional and national outlets.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We try our best to give you the key info such as WHO to contact, HOW to contact them (this is very important, see <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=T8C53LBnxCE&amp;list=PLJOtNnEs3OkZVwEOaSMwOiU5RQC4yZL8I&amp;index=3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HERE<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for why) and which outlets to prioritise (to give context, where possible we\u2019ve included audience\/social media numbers). For example there\u2019s not much point in a local Metal band investing time in contacting <\/span><b>CAPITAL FM.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Details updated and accurate as of 10:00 28\/01\/19<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>LOCAL MEDIA<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Regional and National are further down)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>FM RADIO<\/b> <b>\u2013 Local (PS \u2013 if you\u2019re looking for BBC Introducing, it\u2019s in the Regional section).<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can find out more about strategies to get your first radio plays, in our Nusic Advice Guide <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=T8C53LBnxCE&amp;t=5s\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>BBC RADIO NOTTINGHAM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has 137 000 (RAJAR Q4 2018) people listen to the station for at least five minutes every week. <\/span><b>Mark Dennsion (<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/press-page\/www.twitter.com\/markdennison\"><b>@MarkDennison<\/b><\/a><b>) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who hosts the mid-morning show has a long-running history of supporting local new music, including helping us start the New Music Podcast back in the Trent FM days. <\/span><b>Verity Cowley (<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/veritycowley\"><b>@VerityCowley<\/b><\/a><b>) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who hosts the Drivetime<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also started out back at BBC Introducing, so has a passion for new local music. And recently Summaya (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SummayaMughal\"><strong>@SummayaMughal<\/strong><\/a>) has been presenting Mon &#8211; Fri 7 -10pm, with a show dedicated to everything local. Meaning this is a new opportunity to get your music featured on Radio Nottingham.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>BBC RADIO NOTTINGHAM\u2019S <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sunday evening shows for the local Asian and Afro-Caribbean communities both play some local New Music, be it made by artists from their target community and\/ or artists making music with an Asian or Afro-Caribbean influence. The address is <\/span><b>BBC Nottingham, London Road, NG2 4UU<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The presenters are<\/span><b>\u00a0Hansa Dabee and Dawne Stewart.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quite a few <\/span><b>BBC RADIO NOTTINGHAM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> DJs are open to having local artists in as guests, you\u2019ll need a \u2018story\u2019 to justify being on and if your story is charity related even better. Remember the <\/span><b>BBC<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a public service broadcaster with a duty to support the local community, make your story less about you and more about the community and you have a good chance of getting on. For example with an EP Launch, make it a charity fundraiser.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>KEMET FM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Broadcasting on 97.5FM since 2007, <\/span><b>KEMET<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the only FM station in Nottingham that broadcasts local content 24\/7. As a community station it doesn\u2019t have official listener numbers but it has over 9000 fans on facebook and over 5400<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">followers on twitter, so it appears decent numbers are listening. Nearly all <\/span><b>KEMET<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s specialist shows (those on after 7pm) play some local music, they put local artists on their daytime playlist too and have local artists in for interviews. The station does NOT play all genres though, it\u2019s Ofcom license is to \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serve the needs of the African and Caribbean communities of Nottingham and surrounding areas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d, you won\u2019t hear much Punk Rock on <\/span><b>KEMET<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. All the station\u2019s key contact details are<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/http\/www.975kemetfm.co.uk\/form\/contact_us\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> HERE<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The radio DJs below have shown a keen interest into helping promote Nottingham musicians and events\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Jackie P the host of the breakfast show is a big supporter of local music, to send her your music. She does not use Twitter, so drop a radio friendly tune to jackeyp@hotmail.co.uk and make sure the subject line includes \u201clocal talent\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Tony Bates \u2013 Every Monday and Friday, 8-9am, Tony gives a rundown of loads of cool things going off in Notts each week with breakfast host Jackie P. As a breakfast show slot there should be a lot of people listening. Tweet him at @Babblingbates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Rastarella \u2013 Every Tuesday between 11-12pm Rastarella talks about everything cultural\/free or very cheap (under \u00a310) that is happening over the next seven days in Notts. Tweet her at @Rastarella.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 And a reminder once again to check out the specialist djs in your genre, DJs like Naughty Raver often do Notts Music specials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>MANSFIELD 103.2FM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Serving Mansfield (28,000 listeners \u2013 RAJAR Q4 2018) and surrounding areas 103.2 is not exactly cutting edge musically, but it is very strongly focused on local content so that is your \u2018in\u2019 with this station, particularly if you are from Mansfield, Ashfield or Bolsover and have an angle. More details<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mansfield103.co.uk\/Mansfield%20103.2%20Public%20File.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> HERE<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>TV \u2013 Local<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>NOTTS TV<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 As the name might suggest, Notts TV is a TV station completely focussed on Nottingham. Research by a third party station showed 300,000 people watch the station at least once a each week. In terms of opportunities for musicians, there are two that stand out&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 <\/span><b>Noise Floor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Notts TV\u2019s New Music Show. Noise Floor is currently not making new shows. However, special one off episodes of the programme can be made and past episodes are repeated on Notts TV on pretty much every day of the week. The show plays tracks from local acts and national artists. If you have a news angle, you could get on the show any day of the week. Indeed, with the current success of recent graduates<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/londongrammar\"> <b>LONDON GRAMMAR<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/childhoodband?fref=ts\"><b>CHILDHOOD<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/amberrunofficial?fref=ts\"><b>AMBER<\/b> <b>RUN<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we\u2019d expect media outlets at <\/span><b>NOTTINGHAM UNIVERSITY<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to be focusing on local music more and more. Traditionally its music coverage has been mainly focused on big names but if you get them drunk enough who knows? As well as being on facebook (4,700 fans) and twitter (@69mag &#8211; 6,500 followers) you can email them at <\/span><a href=\"mailto:info@sixtynine-ltd.co.uk\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">info@sixtynine-ltd.co.uk<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">they still use something called a phone \u2013 0116 262 0728. They have in the two years taken a noticeably higher interest in up and coming artists, particularly from the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>ONLINE RADIO<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>LEFTLION PODCASTS<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 PODDINGHAM<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 SOUND OF THE LION<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two of the longest running \u2018exclusively\u2019 Nottingham online radio shows having both started in October 2008, both in podcast form. SOUND OF THE LION comes out in conjunction with each issue of the physical LEFTLION and normally plays tracks from the mag\u2019s review section. PODDINGHAM is a little more freestyle in its regularity and tends to reflect the current musical passions of its creator Poddingham Paul (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/Poddingham_Paul\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">@Poddingham_Paul<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) . LEFTLION has over 20,000 fans on facebook and over 47,000 followers on twitter. Music send-in deets<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.leftlion.co.uk\/sendusmusic\"> <b>HERE<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>NGENIOUS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 An online radio show with no presenters. Ngenious simply streams non-stop Nottingham music, all day, everyday, and can be listened to <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/ngeniousradio.co.uk\/home\/\"><b>HERE<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. If you would like to be played on the station, send a \u201cdecent quality mp3\u201d to <\/span><a href=\"mailto:music@ngeniousradio.co.uk\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">music@ngeniousradio.co.uk<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>NG:DIGITAL<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 An online radio station with shows that heavily feature Nottingham artists and covers local events. Headed up by Jason Loftus and Darren Patterson, you\u2019ll often see them down at gigs, streaming them out on the interwebs. A list of their upcoming shows can be found <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ng-digital.co.uk\/index.html#upcomingshows\"><b>HERE<\/b><\/a><b>. <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A series of shows on NG:Digital, from the Nottingham Live family, are heavily Notts based. <\/span><b>Nottingham Live<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> airs 5pm on the first Monday of every month, and features live tunes and interviews with Notts artists. The second Monday is dedicated to live recordings from The Kimberley Sessions. The fourth (read below for the third) is <\/span><b>NLX<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 a roundup of all the best Notts of the month. Remember the <\/span><b>BBC<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a public service broadcaster with a duty to support the local community, make your story less about you and more about the community and you have a good chance of getting on. For example with an EP Launch, make it a charity fundraiser.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>KEMET FM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Broadcasting on 97.5FM since 2007, <\/span><b>KEMET<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the only FM station in Nottingham that broadcasts local content 24\/7. As a community station it doesn\u2019t have official listener numbers but it has over 8800 fans on facebook and over 5300<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">followers on twitter, so it appears decent numbers are listening. Nearly all <\/span><b>KEMET<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s specialist shows (those on after 7pm) play some local music, they put local artists on their daytime playlist too and have local artists in for interviews. The station does NOT play all genres though, it\u2019s Ofcom license is to \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serve the needs of the African and Caribbean communities of Nottingham and surrounding areas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d, you won\u2019t hear much Punk Rock on <\/span><b>KEMET<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Research by a third party commissioned by the station showed 300,000 people watch the station at least once a each week. In terms of opportunities for musicians, there are two that stand out&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 <\/span><b>Noise Floor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Notts TV\u2019s New Music Show. Noise Floor is currently not making new shows. However, special one off episodes of the programme can be made and past episodes are repeated on Notts TV on pretty much every day of the week. The show plays tracks from local acts and national artists. Remember the <\/span><b>BBC<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a public service broadcaster with a duty to support the local community, make your story less about you and more about the community and you have a good chance of getting on. For example with an EP Launch, make it a charity fundraiser.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>KEMET FM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Broadcasting on 97.5FM since 2007, <\/span><b>KEMET<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the only FM station in Nottingham that broadcasts local content 24\/7. As a community station it doesn\u2019t have official listener numbers but it has over 8600 fans on facebook and over 5100 followers on twitter, so it appears decent numbers are listening. Nearly all <\/span><b>KEMET<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s specialist shows (those on after 7pm) play some local music, they put local artists on their daytime playlist too and have local artists in for interviews. The station does NOT play all genres though, it\u2019s Ofcom license is to \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serve the needs of the African and Caribbean communities of Nottingham and surrounding areas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d, you won\u2019t hear much Punk Rock on <\/span><b>KEMET<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This means you\u2019re competing against musicians from across the East Mids to get on the show, but if you do get on you get FM exposure across the whole region. All filmed sessions go up on on their very successful You Tube Channel where sessions normally hit at least 50 000+ views.
