Quite a few Nottingham artists get to a level where they can sell out<strong> The Chameleon<\/strong>, <strong>The Bodega<\/strong> or <strong>The Maze<\/strong>, selling out the 450 capacity RR&#8217;s is a sign that you are on your way locally and nationally. Rescue was open for eight years before DOG IS DEAD became the first (in 2011). Tricky one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ARENA SELL OUT GIG<\/strong> (Nottingham&#8217;s biggest indoor venue, case closed)<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/jakebugguk?ref=br_tf\">JAKE BUGG<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; 20th February 2014<\/p>\n<p><strong>HANG ON A MINUTE WHERE ARE? \/ DO THEY REALLY COUNT? IT&#8217;S A FAIR QUESTION THERE ARE SOME GREY AREAS:<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/lateofthepier\">LATE OF THE PIER<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; Strongly associated with Nottingham they&#8217;re actually from Castle Donnington which is just outside Nottinghamshire. They had a <strong>Maida Vale<\/strong> session on 4th August 2008, and <strong>Zane Lowe&#8217;s<\/strong> hottest record on 23rd November 2009.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/rolotomassiofficial\">ROLO TOMASSI<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; Now a Nottingham based band all their &#8216;firsts&#8217; were achieved whilst still a Sheffield band.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/tindersticksofficial?ref=ts&amp;fref=ts\">TINDERSTICKS<\/a><\/strong> were known as <strong>ASPHALT RIBBONS<\/strong> when they formed here. They moved to London, got a few new members, and then formed under the name <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/tindersticksofficial?ref=ts&amp;fref=ts\">TINDERSTICKS<\/a><\/strong>. They had their first <strong>Jools Holland<\/strong> performance on 9th May 1995, the year they had their one Top 20 Album. Thanks to @mikeatd for this info.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/bandofjackalsuk\">BAND OF JACKALS<\/a><\/strong> played a session at <strong>Maida Vale<\/strong> for Radio 1 on 26th April 2013, however, it was never played out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ShekuKM?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor\"><strong>SHEKU KANNEH-MASON<\/strong><\/a> is basically one of the most famous classical musicians in the world (he legit played the Royal Wedding), and he is from Notts.
