Below we have three amazing gigs for you, including some very big Nottingham names.

Speaking of big Nottingham names, you may be wondering why SAINT RAYMOND’s Rescue Rooms show isn’t here; and the answer to that question is simply because it’s sold out! We’re sure the 400 odd people who got tickets are in for a treat though!

GIG ONE

If you’re familiar with the Nottingham music scene, then you’ll know that every Monday night at Rescue Rooms is Acoustic Rooms; where a few of the best local acoustic talents play some songs in the RR bar. It’s hard to believe, but this Monday sees Acoustic Rooms fifth birthday; and they’re throwing one hell of a party to celebrate.

First up we’ll have the Bluesy infectious melodies of BAND OF JACKALS. With their unique “inner city desert-rock” style, we look forward to seeing how these guys adjust to an acoustic environment.

Following we’ll have the beautiful twin harmonies of NOAH. Their blissful acoustic sounds left us absolutely speechless when we saw them supporting Chloe Howl a few weeks back, and we expect them to do just the same here.

Next up we have something a bit different for you. QUERCOUS MINOR (known as QM to fans), are a barbershop quartet who have been creating plenty of buzz around Notts this past year. These four fellas will serenade your soul with their sweet, sweet harmonies; and believe us when we say, they put on one hell of a show!

94 GUNSHIPS will also be joining in the fun. With some of the grittiest Blues you’ll find in Nottingham, these guys are sure to astound the crowd with a charismatic performance.

CHESHIRE AND THE CAT will be bringing their Jazztastic big band sound to the stage. They always get the room up and groovin, so make sure to bring your dancing shoes!

FRANKIE RUDOLF’s will be bringing his warm tones and catchy melodies to the stage, he’s a great live performer and a fine addition to the lineup.

IN THE TEEPEES are a duo, who craft beautiful slow songs very well. Masters of harmonizing, you really have to see these guys to appreciate the awe-inducing sounds that they make.

There’s more acts to be confirmed, as well as your usual birthday shizzle such as cake and balloons, so it’s bound to be one hell of a party, and you’d be rather silly to miss it!

Doors: 7:30PM
Price: Free

GIG TWO

Hometown heroes AMBER RUN are stopping by Nottingham Contemporary on Wednesday as part of their headline tour, and they’re bringing the soulful sensations that are JOEL BAKER and GEORGE HOLROYD along with them.

For those unfamiliar, AMBER RUN are one of the most exciting new bands from Nottingham. Signed to RCA, their unique breed of anthemic Indie-Pop has been reaching all corners of the UK and has gained them plenty of attention. Most of the shows on the tour have sold out, so make sure to grab your tickets quick if you want to see these boys before they’re hitting arenas.

JOEL BAKER will be supporting with his catchy yet classy acoustic tunes. Fresh from touring the UK with Orla Gartland, Joel’s fanbase just keeps growing, and for good reason. With an incredible voice, and infectious, easily relatable songs, we reckon it’s just a matter of time before Joel hits the big time!

GEORGE HOLROYD’s heartfelt acoustic sounds will also be taking to the stage. We’ve seen George around Notts a few times now, and we’re always impressed by his performances. George may be incredibly humble, but watch out, cause the second he takes to the stage he transforms into one hell of a confident performer!

Doors: 8PM
Price: £7

GIG THREE

FRAZER LOWRIE will be launching his new EP “Things Have Changed Pt. 2” at Nottingham Contemporary this Saturday, and it’s looking like a cracker of a launch party!

Frazer is known for his fiery live performances and angsty, real songwriting. With lyrics like “nobody likes a dickead” (which can be heard on our latest New Music Podcast), we doubt you’ll find a more truthful musician in Nottingham. This EP has been a long time coming, and if it’s anything like the singles that we’ve heard we reckon it’s gonna be an absolute banger!

There’s one hell of a support lineup too! The aforementioned IN THE TEEPEES will be serenading the crowd with their beautiful harmonies, that are sure to bring a tear to your eye. JOSH WHEATLEY’s soft tones and imaginative songwriting are up next, before YAZMIN LACEY, a sultry soulstress with an unbelievable vocal range; who will set the tone just right for Frazer’s performance.

Doors: 8PM
Price: Free

Yours in Love of New Music,
Sam Nahirny x

PS: Details on how to submit listings for future Top Three Gigs are as always in our FAQs: nusic.org.uk/faq

It’s a very strong week for the Nottingham music scene.
