{"id":13206,"date":"2014-07-13T15:44:36","date_gmt":"2014-07-13T14:44:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/?p=13206"},"modified":"2014-07-13T15:44:36","modified_gmt":"2014-07-13T14:44:36","slug":"top-3-gigs-week-beginning-14th-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/top-3-gigs-week-beginning-14th-july\/","title":{"rendered":"TOP 3 GIGS &#8211; Week Beginning 14th July"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week sees something for everyone in the Nottingham music scene &#8211; we\u2019ve got a double show from one of Notts\u2019 finest, an Electro-Pop lovefest, and the most well known festival Notts has to offer!<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<strong>GIG ONE<\/strong><br \/>\n<br \/>\nThe Notts Soul sensation that is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-session-27-57-%E2%80%93-ady-suleiman\/\">ADY SULEIMAN<\/a><\/strong> will be playing two intimate shows to you lucky lot, this Monday and Tuesday, at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/RescueRooms?fref=ts\">Red Rooms<\/a><\/strong>.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nIf you\u2019re not familiar with the soulful sounds of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-session-27-57-%E2%80%93-ady-suleiman\/\">ADY SULEIMAN<\/a><\/strong>, let me give you a run down &#8211; Ady makes a beautiful concoction of Blues, Soul, Jazz, Reggae and R&#038;B, that truly sounds unlike anything we\u2019ve ever heard before. It\u2019s bloody catchy and pretty damn heartwarming at times too; and he\u2019s gone and got plenty of attention for it, with the likes of Gilles Peterson and Mistajam calling themselves fans. He doesn\u2019t gig in Notts too often, so make sure to catch him while you can!<br \/>\n<br \/>\nMonday nights performance sees support from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/?p=13167&#038;preview=true\">MOLLY &#038; JACK<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-session-33-63-esther-van-leuven\/\">ESTHER VAN LEUVEN<\/a><\/strong>. Both incredible artists &#8211; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/?p=13167&#038;preview=true\">MOLLY &#038; JACK<\/a><\/strong> make some of the sweetest, catchiest Acoustic tunes we\u2019ve ever heard, and believe us when we say, their harmonies are absolutely stunning! <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-session-33-63-esther-van-leuven\/\">ESTHER VAN LEUVEN<\/a><\/strong> is another soulful lass who makes some incredibly powerful Acoustic tunes, but with a bit of a dark edge; and her voice is simply out of this world.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nTuesday\u2019s sees support from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/noahofficial1?ref=ts&#038;fref=ts\">NOAH<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/phoebeballmusic?fref=ts\">PHOEBE BALL<\/a><\/strong>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/noahofficial1?ref=ts&#038;fref=ts\">NOAH<\/a><\/strong> are a duo that make simply stunning Acoustic\/Soul\/Folk\/They\u2019re really hard to categorise okay? And when we first saw them perform live, we were left truly speechless, so do not miss out on this opportunity. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/phoebeballmusic?fref=ts\">PHOEBE BALL<\/a><\/strong> is a lady who makes Jazzy-Folk with a sweet soulful twang. You\u2019ve probably seen her at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/jamcafenottingham?fref=ts&#038;rf=481537825192161\">Jam Cafe<\/a><\/strong> open mic which she often delivers an awesome performance at, but if you haven\u2019t, you better get down to see this lovely lady\u2019s music in action!<br \/>\n<br \/>\nPrice: Free<br \/>\nDoors:7PM<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<strong>GIG TWO <\/strong><br \/>\n<br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/inisolationofficial?fref=ts\">IN ISOLATION<\/a><\/strong> are throwing a massive launch party for their ace new single \u201c<em>Tears<\/em>\u201d down at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/The-Chameleon-Arts-Cafe-Nottingham\/195090847210354?ref=ts&#038;fref=ts\">The Chameleon<\/a><\/strong> this Friday, and it\u2019s got quite the Electro-Pop lineup!<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/inisolationofficial?fref=ts\">IN ISOLATION<\/a><\/strong> make some of the catchiest, most interesting New-Wave Pop we\u2019ve ever heard. It\u2019s hard to stand out in the genre, but they do just that. With powerful vocals, incredibly catchy synths, and some ridiculously slick production, we simply can\u2019t wait for this album they\u2019re working on. Make sure to check out our last <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/nusic-new-music-podcast-081-137-tracklisting\/\">New Music Podcast<\/a><\/strong> to check out the single, and then make sure you head on down for some Dark Pop goodness!<br \/>\n<br \/>\nWe have a killer support lineup too! Kicking us off we have <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/LOSTCONTROLLERS?fref=ts\">LOST CONTROLLERS<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; a heavily 80s influenced Electro-Pop band, who could give the <strong>Pet Shop Boys<\/strong> a run for their money in the huge synthy (if that\u2019s a word?) chorus department. We\u2019re sure they\u2019ll have you dancing all over the place!<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-session-34-64-i-am-lono\/\">I AM LONO<\/a><\/strong> are up next, bringing with them their unique breed of \u201cParanoid Pop\u201d which we\u2019re sure will have a fair few heads bopping along. Big beats and dark synths come together to make something very hard to explain, but very easy to enjoy!<br \/>\n<br \/>\nFinally we\u2019ll have <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-session-29-59-%e2%80%93-onegirloneboy\/\">ONEGIRLONEBOY<\/a><\/strong>; who bring some incredibly catchy Electro-Pop tunes. Having veered more into the Pop side of things recently, they\u2019ve been knocking out HUGE choruses and some incredibly catchy melodies &#8211; and considering they\u2019re working on their new EP, they\u2019ve got plenty of new stuff to amaze you with! <strong>Flying Kangaroo Alliance<\/strong> from Leicester will also be performing.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nPrice: \u00a34<br \/>\nDoors: 8:30PM<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<strong>GIG THREE<\/strong><br \/>\n<br \/>\nThis Saturday is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/splendourfestivalUK?fref=ts\">Splendour Festival<\/a><\/strong>, which sees bloody loads of acts come together to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/wollatonhall?fref=ts\">Wollaton Park<\/a><\/strong> for the most well known festival in Notts! More importantly though, this year sees 13, yep, 13 Notts acts across the stages, let\u2019s have a look at who we can expect to see!<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<strong>MAIN STAGE<\/strong><br \/>\n<br \/>\nThe main stage this year is graced by two of Notts\u2019 finest. Kicking things off we have the Soulful-Folk sounds of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-sound-of-nottingham\/\">FSN<\/a><\/strong> 2014 winner <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/joy-mumford-attention-the-fall-future-session-60-91\/\">JOY MUMFORD<\/a><\/strong>. She won over all of you lot, and the judges at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-sound-of-nottingham\/\">FSN<\/a><\/strong>, and for good reason &#8211; she puts on an incredible performance, and her music is irresistibly catchy; we&#8217;re sure she\u2019ll kick things off to a great start! We\u2019ll also have the Indie wonderboy that is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SaintRaymondMusic?fref=ts\">SAINT RAYMOND<\/a><\/strong>. Over the past year he\u2019s dropped huge tune after huge tune, to the point he know has an entire set worth of Indie anthems, which are sure to get the crowd going a little bit crazy. Apologies if you see me during \u201c<em>Young Blood<\/em>\u201d &#8211; you have been warned.<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<strong>CONFETTI STAGE<\/strong><br \/>\n<br \/>\nThe newly rebranded Confetti stage has three Notts acts this year, all offering something a bit different for your musical tastebuds. We\u2019ll have <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/ketomusicuk\">KETO<\/a><\/strong> starting us off with their Power-Folk, which is infused with touches of Electronic elements. You\u2019ll probably recognise their vocalist <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/leah-sinead-%E2%80%93-to-the-sea-falling-from-grace-future-session-47-78\/\">LEAH SINEAD<\/a><\/strong>, as she\u2019s gigged around Notts for a fair bit now, wowing everyone with her beautiful voice. Next up we\u2019ll have <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/amberrunofficial?fref=ts\">AMBER RUN<\/a><\/strong>, who will be bringing their soaring Indie choruses, and plenty of catchy riffs too. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/amberrunofficial?fref=ts\">AMBER RUN<\/a><\/strong> are one of those bands that have you screaming along to their songs as soon as the first chorus hits, and with this many people in attendance, we\u2019re sure it\u2019ll be something pretty special! Finally we have <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/aplasticrose?fref=ts\">A PLASTIC ROSE<\/a><\/strong>, who are just fresh from supporting <strong>Biffy Clyro<\/strong> &#8211; quite an amazing band to be support for we\u2019re sure you\u2019ll agree. Their mesmerising Rock \u2018n Roll is quite a spectacle live, and we\u2019re sure they\u2019ll be just as many people standing back and appreciating, as there will be moshing, again &#8211; you have been warned!<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<strong>ACOUSTIC ROOMS STAGE<\/strong><br \/>\n<br \/>\nThe Acoustic Rooms stage is rammed with Notts acts, and here you can find eight of the 13 Notts acts playing Splendour! Kicking us off we have that fella who sounds like <strong>Marcus Mumford<\/strong> and <strong>Paul Simon<\/strong> having a fight at a Rodeo, Mr <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/george-holroyd-howl-peru-future-session-62-93\/\">GEORGE HOLROYD<\/a><\/strong>, followed by the sweet, sweet Acoustic-Folk sounds of the lovely lad that is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FrankieRudolf?fref=ts\">FRANKIE RUDOLF<\/a><\/strong>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-session-23-53-ryan-thomas\/\">RYAN THOMAS<\/a><\/strong> will be bringing his No.1 earning authentic Blues sounds to the stage, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-session-42-72-%E2%80%93-fields\/\">FIELDS<\/a><\/strong> will be bringing a touch of good old fashioned Rock to the proceedings, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Gallery47?fref=ts\">GALLERY 47<\/a><\/strong> will slow things down a bit, and give us a bit of his beautiful soft Folk that has earned the legend that is <strong>Paul Weller<\/strong> as a fan! <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-session-24-54-bitter-strings\/\">BITTER STRINGS<\/a><\/strong> will be up next, bringing their slick Retro-Pop sounds, that are sure to have you shaking what your mama gave ya, followed by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mlv2Ad0AosI\">BUD<\/a><\/strong>, whose upbeat Acoustic sounds are bound to get everyone feeling a bit \u201chappy\u201d.
