{"id":13561,"date":"2014-09-14T22:33:15","date_gmt":"2014-09-14T21:33:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/?p=13561"},"modified":"2014-09-14T22:38:57","modified_gmt":"2014-09-14T21:38:57","slug":"top-3-gigs-week-beginning-15th-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/top-3-gigs-week-beginning-15th-september\/","title":{"rendered":"TOP 3 GIGS &#8211; Week Beginning 15th September"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another killer seven days for the Nottingham music scene this week, with a comedy EP launch, a Hip-Hop\/Electronic love fest and an Indie half-dayer!<\/p>\n<p><strong>GIG ONE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Thursday, Nottingham&#8217;s legendary <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mabel.green.7?fref=ts\">MRS GREEN<\/a><\/strong> is back to liven up <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/bodeganotts?fref=ts\">The Bodega<\/a><\/strong>, accompanied by her \u201cswagger band\u201d <strong>THE RIZZLAS\u2019<\/strong> for the launch of her first spectacular E.P. \t<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll definitely know <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mabel.green.7?fref=ts\">MRS GREEN<\/a><\/strong> if you\u2019ve seen her. Sporting an oddly hairy set of legs for her age, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mabel.green.7?fref=ts\">MRS GREEN<\/a><\/strong> is one of the funniest comedy acts that Nottingham has ever seen. Do yourself a favour and do a bit of search on YouTube to see what she\u2019s all about &#8211; you won\u2019t regret it!<\/p>\n<p>The whole project is a massive Notts lovefest &#8211; a collaborative effort of Notts creatives, featuring a band full of local musicians from the legendary CRS studios in St. Anns, as well as songwriting from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-session-09-39-%E2%80%93-rob-green\/\">ROB GREEN<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nusic.org.uk\/wordpress\/future-session-38-68-youthoracle\/\">YOUTHORACLE<\/a><\/strong> and many more. <strong>Jamie Joseph<\/strong> from Derby will also be supporting on the night.<\/p>\n<p>Price: Free<br \/>\nDoors: 8PM<\/p>\n<p><strong>GIG TWO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Friday, we\u2019ve got some of Nottingham\u2019s finest Hip-Hop talent supporting <strong>Paper Tiger<\/strong> (who are from Leeds), at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/themazerocks?fref=ts\">The Maze<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly we would like to give a massive big up to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/1stbloodempire?fref=ts\">1ST BLOOD<\/a><\/strong> empire, after the release of over twelve albums they continue to seriously turn the heat up on the Nottingham Hip-Hop scene. This Friday you can catch the streetwise Hip-Hop poets as they return to <strong>The Maze<\/strong> doing what they do best. This is sure to be a banger!<\/p>\n<p>One of Nottingham\u2019s finest Electronic music producers, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TrayElectric?fref=ts\">TRAY ELECTRIC<\/a><\/strong> will be showcasing his carefully crafted Electronica. The live sets are both uplifting and reflective conveying elements of melodic bliss, clever sound trickery and driving bass lines &#8211; so basically you may have a bit of a reflection during your boogie.<\/p>\n<p>The musical love child of Tim Laverack and Gavin Kirtly, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Opdot?fref=ts\">OPDOT<\/a><\/strong> blends an emotive melodic mixture of melody, texture and mood. Their intricate beats and development of thematic material within classical structures\/forms, synthesizers and acoustic timbres creates their signature sound. So, in short, these guys make something proper unique, and that\u2019s bound to intrigue.<\/p>\n<p>Price: \u00a35 advance\/ \u00a37OTD<br \/>\nDoors: 8PM<\/p>\n<p><strong>GIG THREE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Saturday, <strong>The Maze<\/strong> will be hosting an early evening of Indie bliss, with plenty of local talent to whet your appetite.<\/p>\n<p>Opening the night is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/badraptor?fref=ts\">BAD RAPTOR<\/a><\/strong> who claim that they play \u201czesty, zainy music that will really get your blood pumping and your testicles quaking\u201d Unfortunately being a woman I do not have access to the male gonad, however with that in mind this is surely to be an interesting live set. <\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ll be shortly followed by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheChaseTDL?fref=ts\">THE CHASE<\/a><\/strong>;  known for their high-spirited sets the three-piece combine a youthful mixture of Brit-Pop with plenty of Rock \u2018N\u2019 Roll swagger.  Next to take the stage is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Bleach\/226629357366707?fref=ts\">BLEACH<\/a><\/strong> who will bring a bit of a heavier sound, inspired by the likes of <strong>Nirvana <\/strong>and <strong>Alkaline Trio<\/strong> the band convey similar grungy riffs stylings to their idols, and they pay a pretty good homage!<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/bluevulturemusic?fref=ts\">BLUE VULTURE<\/a><\/strong> will showcase a lively set of catchy Indie Rock and feel good anthems, and we\u2019re sure they\u2019ll play plenty from their ace EP \u201c<em>Amateur Tape Recording<\/em>.\u201d  <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/thetangentsuk?ref=ts&#038;fref=ts\"<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/thetangentsuk?ref=ts&#038;fref=ts\">>THE TANGENTS<\/a><\/a><\/strong> bring some classic Indie Rock \u2018N\u2019 Roll, with plenty of catchy choruses, relatable lyrics and more swagger than <strong>Snoop Dogg<\/strong> at a Gallagher brothers house party.<\/p>\n<p>Headlining the night are <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheMithered?fref=ts\">THE MITHERED<\/a><\/strong> who bring traditional Indie stylings whilst still keeping a totally unique sound.
