With a tone to his voice that’s sweeter than a Triple Hot Chocolate, JK could probably sing the Yellow Pages and we’d still love it. We reckon his heartfelt ditties will set the night off just right!

Following we’ve got IDLE YOUTH, a band who, are (suppose the hints in the name) rather youthful, but very bloody good. They make the kind of Indie Rock that makes you want to swig beer and jump around like House of Pain just came on the stereo.

EAST OF EDEN are up next bringing some uplifting Pop-Punk stylings to the night. With super catchy riffs, and bags of energy, these guys will remind you of everything that you loved about Pop-Punk. And let’s face it, we all loved Pop-Punk at one point!

Rounding the night off we have the incredible melodic Rock sounds of VASEY. One thing that I have to point out is how refined these guys sound. Seriously, they sound as tight as bands like 3 Doors Down and Daughtry (who have been together ten or so years!) With some beautiful melodic guitar work, and very powerful songs, these guys are destined for arenas if they carry on at this rate!

Price: £3
Doors: 7.30

GIG TWO

Local clothing brand Prisma have gone and put on a stellar lineup of local talent over at The Bodega this Thursday, and all for a super cheap entry price!

Kicking things off we have the super catchy Soul-Pop sounds of ROB GREEN. Super enthusiastic, full of energy, and with melodies that will be spinning round your head for days, there’s a reason Rob’s been deemed the “Soul-Prince of Nottingham.” Believe us, he’ll have you pulling some moves you didn’t even know you had the ability to do…

Next up we have those interestingly named fellas in BAYBO SQUAYBO. These fellas make Alternative Jazzy Indie Poppy Rocky, okay they span a lot of genresyy. But damn are they good. With some wicked riffs and instrumentation backing Joe Sheldon’s incredible voice, they all compliment each other extremely well. And they, kind of make you wanna bounce, but in a cooll calm, collected rhythm… I’ll shut up now.

The absolutely stunning FIELD STUDIES are up next. If you’re not familiar with FS, then get to know, cos they will leave you speechless. It takes a lot to shut me up, but the first time I heard I Am Become Death I was stunned into silence. Beautiful vocals, haunting soundscapes, and a stage presence that feels as if a dark wave has come over you. You’ll love these guys, guaranteed.

Finally, we have the band that even made the biggest stage in Notts (Splendour) look small – THE GORGEOUS CHANS. Sounding a bit like an explosion in a beautiful Indie-Jazz-Pop factory (they exist, right?), TGC put on a stage show quite unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Besides the fact they’ve got proper catchy songs which are bound to be going round your head for days, they also make even the most miserable bastard wanna dance.

Price: £5
Doors: 6.30pm

GIG THREE

On Sunday, Rough Trade plays host to some fine Notts talent…

If you’re unfamiliar with ‘em, HOUSE OF THIEVES are probably best summed up as really good Indie Rock N Roll. You know, a mix of catchy melodies, super on stage swagger, oh yeah, and some really good songs! The four piece have huge stage presence, and enough integrity to win all the hipsters over, but enough instant catchiness that absolutely anyone can enjoy their music. It’s basically a win win. Oh, and it’s free, so you’ve got no excuse really!

Also playing we have the incredibly slick sounds of ADY SULEIMAN. This soulful man is one of the most versatile musicians we’ve ever come across. Easily slipping between upbeat almost Reggae vibes, to sultry slow jams, Ady’s voice is just spectacular. The new tunes he’s been working on (lil’ snippets on his FB page) sound amazing, and we cannot wait to see them live.
