So, catch them in this intimate setting before it’s too late! DISCLAIMER: If you’ve managed to hear ‘Money of America’ online somewhere, you’ll already know what a striking song it is. Let me warn you now that when you hear it live, you won’t have a clue what hit you. It feels like you’ve been swept up in a hurricane, as the sped up crescendo of instruments fill the room, and every head in it. If anything will leave you awestruck, it’s these guys (and their collectively gorgeous hair).

Supporting for the night will be MOLLY & JACK, who are a wonderfully talented Acoustic boy/girl duo who will warm even the coldest of hearts with their lush, masterful harmonies and catchy melodies. Fans of Fleetwood Mac and Neil Young will be able to hear the inspirations drawn from them. Seriously, they’re pro. As an active ‘Don’t Flop’ rap battler, BRU-C has always been an incredible lyricist, but has said that since the birth of his son it’s time to take a step back, as he’s trying to become a ‘positive role model’. This guy is an MC who is very conscious of the emotional impact of his songs. His honest, passionate lyrics and thoughtfulness towards the deliverance of his music definitely sets him apart from a hell of a lot of other MCs. Just some general info: ‘Black N’ Red’ will be out on the 27th of June; it was produced by Aokid, has 7 tracks, has been available for pre-order on iTunes since June 1st, and is said to be ‘his most honest work to date’.

Six-piece UK Hip Hop band THE AFTERDARK MOVEMENT will be supporting first. Founded in 2011, these guys combined their musical talents to form a band which drew inspiration from Jazz, Hip Hop, Ska, Reggae, Rock AND Punk. These guys provide rhythmic grooves and soulful melodies, together with some seriously energetic hooks and brilliant vocal content. Come down, even if it’s just to see how exactly all of those genres fit together? Second support is RAPHAEL BLAKE, who is a member of Mouthy Poets. Blake intertwines conscious spoken word into his music to create thought provoking songs. Four Nottingham acts will be playing some incredibly refined music in a super-secret intimate location. It’s one of those gigs that’ll make you feel a bit spesh. Here’s the acts to expect for this particular shindig…

Influenced by the likes of Smashing Pumpkins and Biffy Clyro, VANITY BOX’s sound is heavy on the guitars and merciless with the drums. Formed in 2009, these guys built their way up from pubs to larger venues pretty quickly, and not too long ago were hand picked by Sound of Guns to support their Rock City show. Their gritty vocals and atmospheric power chords are something your ears are definitely going to prick up for if you come down to this little soirée.

Unashamed of self promotion (I can’t blame them, tbh), the owners of Prisma Clothing will also be showcasing their incredible musical talents, as well as their ability to create fresh, high quality printed garments. O THIASOS are an Acoustic duo who create well refined songs that bleed pure Indie Rock. If you look online you might be able to find some recorded songs on their Soundcloud, but there’s not much else on the subject! You’ll have to come down for the experience to really appreciate their hidden musical abilities.

Ilkeston lot THE YOUNG will also be performing a few lovely songs for us. Now, the name may have given it away (we see what they did there), but these guys are very youthful. Despite their youth, they make some bloody awesome Pop-Rock. In fact, they’ve just recorded their latest EP at Random Recordings with Guy Elderfield, and if music could sound like sweet, sweet honey (or taste like… for your ears… I know what I mean), then Winnie The Pooh would be all over this. Also, we can’t help but think that in five years their name kind of loses it’s point… The Old just hasn’t got the same ring to it.

RACHEL SIAN will also be there, playing her first ever ‘proper gig’, we’ve heard. She’s a regular at open mic nights, and has been known to play her Acoustic Folk inspired music beside her sister. Musical talent must run in the genes! I’ll admit, she’s not got a single scrap of online presence, so we’ve had to go back to the good old days and ask around for scraps of information about this enigmatic songstress. Does anybody know her?! She’s so mysterious… I heard she killed a guy.

Scribble Victory from Derby will also be playing.

Somewhere in Nottingham
Wednesday 24th June
Doors: 7:30pm
Admission: £4 tickets are available through the musicians and through Prisma’s website.

Yours in Love of New Music,
Emily Rose Malone x

This week we’ve calmed the hell down with the festivals.
