And talk about divsersity &#8211; from a killer Hip-Hop lovefest, to an established charity festival, and a headline Pop-Punk show!<\/p>\n<p><strong>GIG ONE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"\">MeWeZen<\/a><\/strong> are putting on a showcase of Nottingham\u2019s finest positive Hip-Hop talent at <strong><a href=\"\">Rough Trade<\/a><\/strong> this Friday. Yup, positive Hip-Hop- offering an alternative to some of the negative mainstream stereotypes of the genre, this night is dedicated to those MC\u2019s whose message is uplifting. <\/p>\n<p>Kicking off at 7pm and running all the way through \u2018til 11pm, there\u2019s a huge amount of talent to behold here. The one thing bringing all these peeps together is the positivity of their message, but their styles, from their flow, to their song structure varies massively, so you\u2019re in for quite a treat.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"\">KC DA ROOKEE<\/a><\/strong> will be headlining the night alongside 14, yup, you read that right &#8211; 14 Nottingham MC\u2019s! Talk about getting your money\u2019s worth!.. Actually, oh yeah, it\u2019s free. FREE. You have no bloody excuse not to indulge in this Hip-Hop banquet now.<\/p>\n<p>Check the full lineup <strong><a href=\"\">HERE<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Rough Trade<\/strong><br \/>\nFriday 14th August<br \/>\nDoors: 7PM<\/p>\n<p><strong>GIG TWO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2009, <strong><a href=\"\">HELLO TOMORROW<\/a><\/strong> are a four piece pop punk band with influences spanning <strong>All Time Low<\/strong>, <strong>Paramore<\/strong>, <strong>Green Day<\/strong>, and <strong>You Me at Six<\/strong>. Last year they won a  <strong><a href=\"\">Young Creative Awards<\/a><\/strong> and played their anthemic Pop-Punk at the <strong><a href=\"\">Royal Concert Hall<\/a><\/strong>, and now they\u2019re headlining <strong><a href=\"\">The Bodega<\/a><\/strong> on their \u2018Back to the Futour\u2019 \u2026tour. I see what they did there. These chaps will provide clever, memorable choruses and upbeat melodies which are guaranteed to have you jumping and flailing about in no time!<\/p>\n<p>West Bridgford boys <strong><a href=\"\">FALL OF BASTILLE<\/a><\/strong> will be opening the night up with their progressive Alt-Rock that is bound to leave a smile on your face. Why? Because, for young guys they\u2019ve already got a stellar sound that many bands spend years finding! If you listened to them with your eyes closed, you\u2019d probably think they\u2019d been doing this for a decade.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been announced that <strong><a href=\"\">RESTROOMS<\/a><\/strong> will be performing on this night as well. These guys are a four-piece Pop Punk\/ Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roll band AND a bunch of pioneering fashionistas \u2013 a picture recently depicted Jake the guitarist rocking up to their band practice in crocs, swim shorts and a slayer t-shirt. G\u2019warn Gok Wan! Their debut EP titled \u2018<em>Eternal Bummer<\/em>\u2019 not only has a great title, but it\u2019s also an absolute belter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Bodega<\/strong><br \/>\nSaturday 15th August<br \/>\nDoors: 7PM<\/p>\n<p><strong>GIG THREE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the above didn\u2019t take yer fancy, we\u2019ve got a mini festival for you. Okay, it\u2019s not that mini. It\u2019s actually one of Nottingham&#8217;s biggest and best live band benefit festivals, which is consistently brought to you every year by the fabulous people at <strong><a href=\"\">I&#8217;m Not From London<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"\">Audacious Face<\/a><\/strong>, \u2018cause they\u2019re a bit nice.<\/p>\n<p>Expect THREE stages of the best acts from Nottingham and beyond from 1pm &#8211; 2am. I\u2019m going to write about each headliner for you, just because the sheer amount of beautiful Nottingham mugs gracing this event\u2019s stages is frankly too much for my tiny excited brain to handle.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, by the way, it\u2019s their fifth birthday! So, in true five-year old character they are demanding that we all dress fancy. Anything that\u2019s over the top and fun\/ridiculous. Since Waterfront Festival started, they\u2019ve raised over \u00a313,000 for Nottingham charities, and this year they want to go all out. The charity will be <strong><a href=\"\">Wolfson Cystic Fibrosis Centre<\/a><\/strong>, and big prizes will be won for the most outrageous costume.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Leftlion Stage \u2013 Downstairs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"\">GREY HAIRS<\/a><\/strong> spawn snarling, punky energy that&#8217;s infused with the grunge spirit of the 1993 US underground movement. Every song is bursting with guitars, and the vocals are raw and loud, with lyrics reminiscent of the gloriously frustrated words spat from <strong><a href=\"\">SLEAFORD MODS<\/a><\/strong>. Beautifully drenched in noise, their live performance contains some astounding songs that contain big, catchy hooks and euphoric punchy lines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Castle Rock Stage \u2013 Upstairs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"\">BENDIGO BAND<\/a><\/strong> are an 11-piece live dance band based in Nottingham. These guys forge an innovative electronic sound that\u2019s imbued with big brass, fat bass lines, expert vocals, breaks and bleeps, alongside some exotic influences from all over the world. The artists involved are incredibly diverse and established and they\u2019re definitely an interesting bunch, get ready for an ear-gasm of musical mixes spanning from Jungle, to Reggae to Drum \u2018n\u2019 Bass. That\u2019s just a few of the genres\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Under The Tree Stage \u2013 Outside<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Headlining this stage we have Nottingham\u2019s very own masters of Blues, <strong><a href=\"\">94 GUNSHIPS<\/a><\/strong>, whom, fresh off the release of their \u201c<em>Dead Bees<\/em>\u201d EP have absolutely loads of excellent songs that\u2019ll summon some foot stomping and singalongs. The catchy lyrics will be buzzing round your head for ages. I\u2019m still randomly blurting out \u201cDIG A HOLE, FILL IT IN, DIG ANOTHER ONE\u201d in a husky southern American accent from time to time. Boyfriend is not happy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>P.S.<\/strong> Unless you&#8217;ve been living in the caves for the past five years, you&#8217;ll know that this event always sells out, so get your tickets immediately to avoid being an idiot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Canalhouse Bar<\/strong><br \/>\nSaturday 15th August<br \/>\nDoors: 1PM<\/p>\n<p>Yours in Love of New Music,<br \/>\nEmily Rose Malone\/Sam Nahirny x<\/p>\n<p><strong>P.P.S<\/strong> <strong><a href=\"\">KAGOULE<\/a><\/strong> are playing Rough Trade next week &#8211; and it\u2019s bound to be a wicked show.
