From a Country EP launch, to some local peeps supporting a big out-of-towner, to a debut show from a Notts supergroup.

GIG ONE

The lovely lad that is BRAD MATTHEWS is launching his brand new EP “One of Them Kind of Nights” at Rescue Rooms this Tuesday with support from a bunch of ace Notts folk, and some help from IKE Productions. Brad’s music is probably best described as Country, but with a bunch of influences. Think George Ezra, with a tad more pop sensibility and you’ve probs got the right idea. The night will be a celebration of his debut EP launch, which will more than likely contain the following: music, booze, cheering, stomping, booze, more music, more cheering, more booze. You get the picture. Either way it’ll be a cracking night.

First of the many supports is RICHARD JENKINS who will be showing off some of his Folky Acoustic wizardry. This man is a stunning songsmith who’s been making quite a name for himself recently, playing loads of local shows. He also has a great beard. And for those reasons alone you should see him play.

Southwell lads THE AGE OF STELLA are up next, bringing with them some intense Rock stylings. Similar to Brad, this lot just released their debut EP “Flux” last month. Maybe they realised that when you’re launching something you can get away with getting a bit more crazy at the show than normal. Clever. We see what you did there lads…

Indie Rockers VANITY BOX will take to the stage next, attacking all of our consciousness with their ridiculously catchy melodies. Featuring lots of chants and memorable riffs, VBoxes songs are bound to be spinning round your head long after you’ve forgotten what happened on Tuesday night.

Finally, pre Mr Matthews we have THE CHASE, who will deliver some good old fashioned Grungy Rock n Roll. Creating an epic wall of sound, these guys have been at it since a very early age, and they’ve done nothing but develop. Now – they have an array of brilliant songs that are sure to have you moshing all over the place, and get you in the perfect mood for BM.

Rescue Rooms
Tuesday 18th
Doors: 6pm
Price: £6

GIG TWO

Two of Nottingham’s finest will be supporting out of towner Low Leaf at The Bodega this Wednesday courtesy of Sounddhism. What else are you gonna do on a bloody Wednesday?

First up we have the absolutely stunning soulful tones of YAZMIN LACEY. A lady whose beautiful sounds have been picked up by none other than tastemaker Gilles Peterson! Her collab with TREKKAH was one of our Summer anthems last year, so we’re looking forward to seeing what new tunes she’s been working on.

The gorgeous Electronic sounds of SHELTER POINT are also on the bill. It’s hard to believe that the sound this lot make comes from just two people. I don’t know the technical terms, and to be honest, I don’t really know how to put it into words, but the mix of Liam’s beautiful falsetto and Robin’s almost magical control of the electronics – it’s just something very special to behold.

The Bodega
Wednesday 19th
Doors: 7pm
Price: £10

GIG THREE

AMULET are playing a headline show at Bodega this Friday, and it’s looking like a cracker of a show. AMULET are a newly formed – almost super group, consisting of Joe and Mike from… JOE & MIKE, Jordan Bramley from ALBION and some bloke who’s sodded off to Leicester Uni that goes by the name of Terz. And what kind of music do they make? Well, there ain’t much of it out there beside a 37 sec instrumental clip, but it sounds a bit AMBER RUN-ey. Basically, it’ll be surprise, and a good one at that.

Supporting we have CONNOR SPRAY AND THE INDEIABEES. Another artist who has beefed out his sound with the addition of a sick band recently. You can see his debut band performance in his FS HERE, but if you can’t be arsed with that – expect some good old fashioned Indie Rock & Roll. With plenty of catchy guitar lines and lots of swagger. Lots and lots of swagger.

Also supporting are those lads that get about a bit, THE CHASE. We’ve already told ya a bit about them if you look above (are you even reading this properly, yo?), and we highly doubt they’re gonna totally rework their sound into a Drum n Bass trio or something in the three days between these gigs, so, what we said previously should still give you the right idea.

The Bodega
Friday 21st
Doors: 7pm
Price: £3

Yours in Love of New Music,
Sam Nahirny x

P.S SCORZAYZEE is playing a show at Rough Trade on Saturday. However, considering it’s A – kind of a celebratory party for the Kickstarter backers, and B – if you’re not a backer you have to pay 15 odd quid for the album to gain entry, we didn’t think it stood up in editorial court as a T3 gig. If you are heading down though – you’re in for a right treat.

Summer is still going strong, and we have another diverse set of three gigs to get yersen involved with this week.
