The Notts music scene is being extra generous this week. Not only are there a load of super strong gigs, they\u2019re all free. There\u2019s a load of live music in the square, an EP launch and a talent show full on Notts goodness.<\/p>\n
GIG ONE<\/strong><\/p>\n The Bodega<\/a><\/strong> in the Square are bringing us some proper good music from a load of acts right in the heart of the city this Friday. Perfect for showcasing your drunken dancing to absolutely everyone.<\/p>\n Armed with a whole host of guitars and horns and a fair amount of bodies too THE GORGEOUS CHANS<\/a><\/strong> bring their unmistakable Indie Pop to the line up. The Chans layer lively melodies over jazzy undercurrents giving euphoric performances. Recently formed four-piece AMULET<\/a><\/strong> have be busy making some new music so make sure you come down to fill your ears with it. Most of the stuff we\u2019ve heard already has been acoustic and already sounding really refined. Singer songwriter GEORGE HOLROYD<\/a><\/strong> gives a husky vocal to create earthy tones with thought provoking lyrics and a memorable chorus. RYAN FARMER<\/a><\/strong> brings Americana Blues with a rustic vocal that really transports you into a Country and Western. Singer songwriter JOSH KEMP<\/a><\/strong> is definitely no stranger to gigging and definitely knows his way around a loop pedal. He\u2019ll be bringing his upbeat melodies and silky vocal to the table.<\/p>\n The Old Market Square<\/strong> GIG TWO<\/strong><\/p>\n SAM & JOE<\/a><\/strong> are releasing their debut EP this week – \u2018Red Roses & Baby Blue<\/em>.\u2019 The brothers\u2019 EP launch happens to be in their very own hometown of Arnold, where they had their first ever gig not that long back. Sure to bring their unique chemistry to the performance, the beautifully acoustic driven EP has elements of Folk perfect for a chilled night at the pub. You can catch a hint of what to expect on last week\u2019s podcast too<\/a>.<\/p>\n Little John & Robin Hood, Arnold<\/a><\/strong> GIG THREE<\/strong><\/p>\n Notts Factor<\/a><\/strong> returns this week, after a few years away, with a final taking place at Rescue Rooms<\/a><\/strong> on Sunday. The judges have Simon Cowell\u2019d their way through the applicants to find the six best acts to perform and compete to win a whole bunch of exposure. Oh and \u00a3500.<\/p>\n There\u2019s a real mix of genres in the finalists from Indie Rock to Shambly Blues, definitely something for everyone. MONIQUE HENRY<\/a><\/strong> mixes genres including RnB, Blue and Jazz to create a truly soulful sound with a heartfelt vocal. OSCAR SPEED<\/a><\/strong> brings influence from artists such as Pharrell<\/strong> and Mayer Hawthorne<\/strong> to make some super catchy Pop Anthems that sound HUGE. CHLOE MCSHANE<\/a><\/strong> will be bringing her mesmeric vocal over RnB tracks giving a really special performance. After releasing their debut EP \u2018First Draft<\/em>\u2019 back in May PAPER SHOP DAVE<\/a><\/strong> have some really polished Indie tracks in their back pocket. Shambly Blues six-piece, 94 GUNSHIPS<\/a><\/strong>, are taking a break from Digging Holes to bring some incredibly catchy tunes that will get you singing along straight away. KALLI ASHTON<\/a><\/strong> takes her American background as influence to her Country style and gives it a Pop twist.<\/p>\n Not only will all of those finalists be performing, they\u2019ve thrown in a performance from 2012 winners ONE GIRL ONE BOY<\/a><\/strong> too.
