It\u2019s a HUGE month for gigs, and a huge month for Notts music. This week it has been especially tough to narrow it down to only three gigs. There\u2019s a chance you might be feeling slightly worn out by the time Monday comes with so much going on. These are the three, best high-profile gigs going off this week. But there’s loads of other brilliant gigs that didn’t quite make the cut. Check out Leftlion’s<\/a><\/strong> gig listings HERE<\/a><\/strong> to see everything that’s going off! <\/p>\n

GIG ONE <\/strong><\/p>\n

Recovery Rocks<\/a><\/strong> returns for the third time this week. Raising money and awareness for those fighting addiction, there\u2019s four great Notts acts over at The Bodega<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The first act of the evening are THE FLAVELLS<\/strong>, well half of them. Billy from the band will be doing an Acoustic set. The two-piece from Clifton have only put out one song and haven\u2019t done much gigging before, so we don\u2019t know a huge amount about them. However, that one track is sounding sweet, so we should be expecting to see tons more from this lot.<\/p>\n

Next up, TIMOTHY J SIMPSON<\/a><\/strong> will be returning to RR after playing last year and he\u2019ll be bringing his band, THE MONSTROUS DEAD<\/a><\/strong>, too. Timothy has been playing music since he was twelve years old and has played a whole host of genres. He\u2019s now settled on Alternative Folk with influence from Neil Young<\/strong> and Elvis Costello<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The guest band of the evening is MATT HENSHAW<\/a><\/strong>. Matt released his latest single \u2018Easier<\/em>\u2019 last month, you could pick up a version with 15 different forms of the same track. That\u2019s approximately 53 minutes of Matt\u2019s soulful, easy listening voice. <\/p>\n

Finally, headlining the night will be THE SWIINES<\/a><\/strong>. The Indie Rock four-piece are back again after being the secret headliners of last year\u2019s Recovery Rocks<\/strong>. They are sure to bring tons of swaggerful confidence, melodic riffs and tunes that will stay in your head for days to their performance<\/p>\n

GIG TWO<\/strong><\/p>\n

GEORGIE<\/a><\/strong> kicks off her eight date headline tour this week in her hometown. After signing to Columbia Records (no biggie) in August, GEORGIE<\/a><\/strong> will be coming back to Mansfield. The \u2018Following the 20 Mile Road\u2019 tour includes three dates in the great county of Nottinghamshire as well as dates all across the country. The tour is inspired by the 20 mile road from Mansfield, if you were wondering.<\/p>\n

The twenty year old singer and guitarist and her band has played tons of gigs this year, including Dot to Dot<\/strong> and Splendour<\/strong>. Georgie has influences from Fleetwood Mac<\/strong> and has often been compared to Stevie Nicks herself. Can you really get a better compliment than that?<\/p>\n

GIG THREE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hockley Hustle<\/a><\/strong> makes a return on Sunday and there are what feels like hundreds of Notts acts taking to the stage. Taking over 19 venues and too many stages to even begin to count, there\u2019s no way you\u2019re gonna get round the whole festival. Unless you\u2019ve invented some kinda time stopping superdrug in which case; send it this way. The event raised over \u00a320,000 for charity last year (pretty impressive, ay?) and this year will hopefully raise just as much. <\/p>\n

Due to the sheer size of the festival, there\u2019s no way we can tell you about every act, or even every venue. We don\u2019t fancy boring you to tears either. So, here\u2019s a little run down on some of the bigger stages and what you can expect. Here goes\u2026<\/p>\n

I\u2019m Not From London<\/a><\/strong> will be hosting over at Rough Trade<\/a><\/strong>. The Rough Trade<\/strong> stage is being live-streamed over at NG:Digital<\/a><\/strong>, so if you can\u2019t make it to Hockley Hustle then you can catch all its goings ons over there. CROSA ROSA<\/a><\/strong> will be headlining the stage and bringing Psychedelic Garage Rock to the metaphorical table. This isn\u2019t the trio\u2019s only slot of the day, however. You can also catch CROSA ROSA<\/a><\/strong> over at The Lofthouse<\/a><\/strong> if you really fancy. <\/p>\n

Talking of The Lofthouse<\/strong>, the stage will be hosted by BLOOM<\/a><\/strong>, bringing 60s \u201cpsychotic acid-tone alternatives\u201d and POM (Protect Our Minds)<\/a><\/strong> who raise awareness of Mental Health amongst adults. MANNEQUIN<\/a><\/strong> are part of the line up, the Alternative Rock three-piece will be bringing an exhilarating performance. Headlining the stage will be FIELD STUDIES<\/a><\/strong>. The Ambient Rock four-piece played the BBC Introducing<\/a><\/strong> stage at some small and unheard of festival called Glastonbury<\/strong> earlier this year and have been building an increasing following since. Definitely ones to watch.<\/p>\n

Over at The Jam Cafe<\/a><\/strong>, Farmyard Records<\/a><\/strong> have teamed up with Sounddhism<\/a><\/strong> to bring you a load of great local acts. MANIERE DES BOHEMIENS<\/a><\/strong> are headlining the stage and are, despite sounding French, actually from Nottingham. The seven-piece will be playing predominantly folk music tinged with Gypsy Swing. You can also catch NATALIE DUNCAN<\/a><\/strong>, the soulful singer is a Hustle Veteran and is no newbie to playing this festival.<\/p>\n

Brewdog<\/a><\/strong> is hosted by BBC Introducing<\/a><\/strong>, you can see some real raw talent over at this stage. Headlined by ADY SULEIMAN<\/a><\/strong>, who released his EP \u2018What\u2019s The Score<\/em>\u2019 last week. You can expect to hear the live version of this which we can only expect to be just as incredible as the EP itself. You can also catch BITTER STRINGS<\/a><\/strong>, SAME STREETS<\/a><\/strong> and BETH FRISBY<\/a><\/strong> on the stage too. This stage\u2019d make a really impressive gig on its own.<\/p>\n

Wow, okay. I said it was a HUGE week didn\u2019t I? There are tons more truly amazing acts scattered across the festival. Let\u2019s hope we got enough into this quick preview to tempt your appetites.<\/p>\n
