This week there\u2019s a headline show at <\/span><b><a href=\"\">The Contemporary<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> packed full of Indie Rock, a HUGE Birthday celebration at <\/span><b><a href=\"\">The Maze<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (let\u2019s hope there\u2019s cake) and a Country Pop EP launch over at <\/span><b><a href=\"\">The Lacehouse<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. If that\u2019s not gonna make you crawl out of bed, what will?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>GIG ONE<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"\">THE HARMONICS<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0are headlining <\/span><b>The Contemporary<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> this Thursday. The band are somewhere between Indie Rock and good ol\u2019 fashioned Rock and Roll taking influences from both the old and the new sides of the Rock genre. These guys have some super catchy melodies in their back pocket that will leave you singing for days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support comes from Indie Rock and Roll trio <\/span><b><a href=\"\">THE CHASE<\/a><\/b><b>. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These lot have got a ton of ambition that really comes through in their music. After forming all the way back in 2007 when they were proper youngsters, the band have developed a traditional Grungey Rock sound with a Gallagher-esque vocal. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"\">SAME STREETS<\/a><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be bringing their unmistakeable Rock\u2019n\u2019Roll to the evening. The trio, who take influences from <\/span><b>The Beatles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>The Rolling Stones<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, have a real raw but refined sound with a unique vocal and memorable hooks. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s some Indie Pop for you up next from <\/span><b><a href=\"\">CLIMBING BABEL<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. These guys are influenced by Pop-Punk bands like <\/span><b>Blink-182<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Sum 41<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but give an Alternative and more Pop sounding style along with catchy riffs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SMITH &amp; GROVES <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; are a band that, despite spending what felt like hours typing different versions of this band name into every thinkable search engine (yeah, even Bing!), we can\u2019t find anything about these lot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Contemporary<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thursday 15th October<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tickets: \u00a36<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 6pm<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>GIG TWO<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"\">Phlexx<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are celebrating their second Birthday this week with an absolutely HUGE party over at <\/span><b>The Maze<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. We can even sing Happy Birthday and not get sued a \u00a310 Gazillion. <strong>Phlexx<\/strong> have put on a ton of gigs over the past two years and have been a massive supporter of the Notts Music scene. They\u2019re putting on three stages full of music and a load of them happen to be from Nottingham. (Not that\u2019d ever have guessed with them being in the T3 and all.) So here\u2019s a few of the Notts acts you can expect to see whilst filling your face full of Birthday Cake.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After releasing the mixtape \u201c<em>Beats\u2019N\u2019Tings<\/em>\u201d in for <\/span><b>Phlexx<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s birthday celebration <\/span><b><a href=\"\">TREKKAH<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be taking to the stage. The mixtape samples random bits of audio from the internet and transforms it into some sick sounding beats. Next up is <\/span><b><a href=\"\">YAZMIN LACEY<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who has worked with <\/span><b><a href=\"\">TREKKAH<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on two tracks from his \u2018<em>Midnight<\/em>\u2019 EP. Expect beautiful poetic lyrics delivered through her soulful voice. Talking of poetry, <\/span><b><a href=\"\">RAPHAEL BLAKE<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who is a bit of a genius in that field, is on the line up too. Raphael creates thought provoking, story-telling songs with the use of spoken word over his music. He could make anything sound beautiful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alternative Pop singer <\/span><b><a href=\"\">DAISY GODFREY<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be bringing her Jazz influenced vocal to the line up. Finally, Notts based Brazilian <\/span><b><a href=\"\">CIBELE<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be bringing along her unique and inspiring vocal. There\u2019s a bunch more Notts based projects in the lineup that are definitely worth checking out that my description would not do justice, <strong><a href=\"\">MRS GREEN<\/a><\/strong> being one of them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Maze<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saturday 17th October<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tickets: \u00a35 OTD<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 8PM<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">18+<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>GIG THREE<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"#\">KALLI ASHTON<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is launching her debut EP \u2018<em>Wings<\/em>\u2019 at <strong>The Lacehouse<\/strong> on Sunday. The Country Pop songstress (who has maybe the most country name, ever?) took part in the <strong><a href=\"\">Notts Factor<\/a><\/strong> finals at the <strong><a href=\"\">Rescue Rooms<\/a><\/strong> last week. Kalli\u2019s sweet sounding vocal combined with her beautiful country song-writing creates the perfect level of Country Pop that would sound right at home in Nashville.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"\">JOSEPH KNIGHT<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from Southwell way (yeah, South-well not Suthell, okay?) is the first support of the night. Joseph\u2019s unforgettable voice layered over his acoustic guitar are perfect for a chilled Sunday evening. He is set to release his first ever single \u201c<em>Keep Your Head Up<\/em>\u201d at the end of the month so keep an eye (or an ear) out for that too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"\">KATE AUBURN<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is another support of the night. Kate hasn\u2019t got a huge online presence BUT there are a few of her originals on Youtube from Open Mic Nights. Kate has a Country Folk tone to her voice that sounds proper unique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"\">LEWIS HALL<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has a few originals scattered about on Youtube, like Kate.
