It\u2019s officially November. Time to put away the fake blood and smelly, gone-off Pumpkins and think about how much money you\u2019re about to spend over the Xmas period. It\u2019s all cool though, because we\u2019ve got three great gigs for you this week and they\u2019re ALL completely free! There\u2019s a two day festival at the Contemporary<\/strong><\/a> with over thirty Notts acts, a load of acoustic goodness at Wax Bar<\/strong><\/a> plus some of the finest Electronic music in our great county at Suede<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

GIG ONE<\/b><\/p>\n

Affinity will be showcasing a ton of young Notts musicians over two jam-packed days at the <\/span>Contemporary\u00a0<\/b>AND it\u2019s completely free. Lady Leshurr<\/strong> from Birmingham (I\u2019d brush my teeth twice if I were you, you know just in case) will be headlining the festival but there\u2019s over 30 Nottingham acts from all genres over the weekend so there\u2019s sure to be something to take your fancy. Are you ready for this mega info filled paragraph?<\/p>\n

First up, the incredible, soulful voice of <\/span>HARLEIGHBLU<\/a><\/b> combines elements of Electronic and Hip-Hop through her sound. She released the \u2018Futurespective EP 2<\/em>\u2019 at the end of September and has taken on a more Electronic sound than previous EPs. You\u2019ll be able to catch the mesmerising sound of <\/span>CONGI<\/a><\/b> at the festival, creating hypnotic electronic sounds that\u2019ll leave you feeling a bit dazed. <\/span>BABE PUNCH<\/a><\/b>, aka the coolest girlband you ever did see, make venomous Alternative Rock songs taking influences from Grunge and Punk. The five-piece bring some much needed girl power to the land of male-dominated Alt Rock whilst simultaneously making some seriously amazing music. <\/span>DAUDI MATSIKO<\/a> <\/b>will leave you filled with wonder at his poetic lyrics and beautiful, emotive voice. Daudi will be releasing his new single \u2018Take Me Old<\/em>\u2019 on Friday from his latest \u00a0EP \u2018The Lingering Effects of Disconnection<\/em>\u2019, so it\u2019s the perfect opportunity to hear some new material that you\u2019ll no doubt fall in love with. <\/span>JOSH WHEATLEY<\/b><\/a>\u2019s<\/a> soothing, melodic voice will be making some “Indie Pop with a dark twist.”\u00a0FSN<\/strong><\/a> 2015 winners <\/span>SUSPECT ALIBI<\/a> <\/b>will be bringing along their unmistakeable Indie Pop. Their refined sound is made up of synth keys layered over impressive guitar skills making catchy choruses that will have you singing a long in no time. Finally there\u2019ll be some head-turning Spoken Word from <\/span>RAPHAEL BLAKE<\/a><\/b>, who layers his emotive poetry over mellow beats.<\/span><\/p>\n

GIG TWO<\/b><\/p>\n

BadtimeForBonzo<\/a> <\/b>and <\/span>Wax Bar <\/b>are back again this Friday with Friday Jamz on Friday. Did I mention it was on Friday? There\u2019s loads of fresh talent making some great acoustic music.<\/span><\/p>\n

Citing her influences as Anna Calvi,<\/strong> Amanda Palmer<\/strong> and of course Beyonce<\/strong> (is there anyone <\/span>she<\/b>\u00a0hasn\u2019t influenced in some way?) HOLLY TAYLOR-GAMBLE<\/a><\/b> will be performing with her distinctive, powerful vocal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Armed with a harmonica and acoustic guitar, <\/span>DANIEL ISON<\/a><\/b> will be making some \u201csolo acoustic ridiculousness\u201d noise on Friday, taking hints of Rock, Folk and Blues to create a unique sound. You can catch a hint of Daniel\u2019s \u2018ridiculousness\u2019 on the latest NMP<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

After performing at Hockley Hustle a few weeks ago, <\/span>GIUSEPPE VENTURINO<\/a> <\/b>is back at <\/span>Wax Bar<\/b>. He takes his Folk influence and blends it with Psychedelic Rock from the 60s to create his own unique sound.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, <\/span>DAISY GODFREY<\/a><\/b> takes her Jazz influenced vocal and, with the help of guitarist Ryan Cornell, makes some foot-tapping, head-bopping, any-other-body-part-moving soulful sounds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Webbo & The Soft Boys<\/strong> from Melton Mowbray will be performing too.<\/span><\/p>\n

GIG THREE<\/b><\/p>\n

It\u2019s the 23rd MEME<\/strong><\/a> on Friday night over at <\/span>Suede<\/b>\u00a0bringing you some of the best Electronic music Nottingham has to offer.<\/p>\n

LARRY CRYWATER<\/a> <\/b>is the first act to be performing on Friday night. Larry has built up a HUGE back catalogue of music with his discography dating back to 2004. <\/span><\/p>\n

Next up, <\/span>BETTY & THE PHYSICS<\/a> <\/b>will be sharing their sounds along with their knowledge of physics. There are some really sciencey sounding track titles and they\u2019re apparently bringing a \u2018<\/span>Live Analogue Modular Synthscape\u2019. We think that\u2019s what it meant anyway. If anyone could enlighten me on this topic, please let me know.<\/span><\/p>\n

I AM LONO<\/a> <\/b>create \u201c<\/span>claustrophobic, pounding, paranoid pop music gold\u201d and, trust me, there is no better way to describe their music than that. The duo, who released their self-titled debut EP a few months ago, bring spacey vocals and dark synths reminiscent of mid-80s Pop. And those bass hooks…<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, <\/span>SPANDEX<\/a><\/b> will be performing. No, not that kind of spandex\u2026 But apparently if you pay him enough money he\u2019ll wear a green body-suit made out of the stuff. We hear he wears a cape too and he\u2019ll \u201cswish it around like some kind of twat\u201d and he even does that bit for free! As well as having some pretty bonkers track titles including \u201cThe Harder Wearing Cheeses<\/em>\u201d and \u201cChicken Breast Milk<\/em>\u201d this guy makes some real good electronic sounds that are just as bizarre as you may already have expected.<\/span><\/p>\n
