There\u2019s an 80s themed album launch over at <a href=\"\"><strong>Spanky Van Dykes<\/strong><\/a>, tons of rap battles over at <a href=\"\"><strong>The Bodega<\/strong><\/a> and a headline show that could very easily be making history at some place called <a href=\";fref=ts\"><strong>Rock City<\/strong><\/a>? Yeah I\u2019d never heard of it either.<\/p>\n<p><b>GIG ONE<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"\">PRACTICAL LOVERS<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be launching their debut album \u2018<em>Agony<\/em>\u2019 on Friday over at <\/span><b>Spanky Van Dykes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The 80s influenced Electro Pop duo are putting on a whole night dedicated to the decade to celebrate the launch of their new album. They\u00a0take inspiration from all things 80s (did you get that?) including <strong>Joy Division<\/strong> and <strong>The Smiths<\/strong>, taking particular influence from<strong> Morrissey\u2019s<\/strong> stage presence. Not only will everyone who attends the evening be given a free download code for the new album \u2018<em>Agony<\/em>\u2019 you\u2019ll be able to buy it on limited edition cassette tape. There\u2019s also a chance to win this fancy new thing called a Walkman?? I\u2019m not too sure what that is, but apparently they\u2019re the new big thing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support comes from<\/span><b> <a href=\";fref=ts\">BALTIK WEATHER<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who made their debut in September at Outstanding Festival. The group, fronted by <\/span><b><a href=\"\">EMKAH<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, are a live dance front who\u2019ll be bringing some Drum and Bass to the night.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"\">REVENGE OF CALCULON<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> make \u201cEar Candy for the Noise Hungry.\u201d I\u2019m not too sure what that means but I\u2019m taking it as synth heavy sounds that should be make the soundtrack to a cartoon comic. They recently played the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival in Reykjavik which might sound random but so are they (in a good way.) Aside from all the total madness, the trio make some really cool electronic music. And oh yeah\u2026 they wear wrestler masks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can also catch <\/span><b><a href=\"\">NO DISCO<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who will be launching their EP \u2018<em>Silhouettes<\/em>\u2019 on Friday. Two releases in one night isn\u2019t bad ay? The Indie Pop Rock trio take catchy choruses and jump-along-y refined riffs (that\u2019s a thing now, I said so) that are reminiscent of <strong>The Wombats. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Spanky Van Dykes<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friday 27th November<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 7pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tickets: Free before 10pm, \u00a32 afterwards<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>GIG TWO<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\"><strong>Clash Money<\/strong><\/a> are presenting Bardega over at <strong>The Bodega<\/strong> and there\u2019s a ton of Nottingham acts scattered across the night. As well as Notts acts battling it out against other artists from across the country there\u2019ll be solo performances and DJ sets. There will be freestyle battles from <\/span><b><a href=\"\">BRODES<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> V <\/span><b><a href=\"\">MIXSY<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b><a href=\"\">ZAIM<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> V <\/span><b>TY<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You can also catch <\/span><b><a href=\"\">STAN<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &amp; <\/span><b><a href=\"\">J LITTLES<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as well as <\/span><b><a href=\"\">DIDDZ<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&amp;<\/span><b> <a href=\"\">KAZOR<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">battling it out against acts from across the country. One of Nottingham\u2019s finest\u00a0Grime MCs <\/span><b><a href=\"\">MEZ<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be performing and producer duo\u00a0<\/span><b><a href=\"\">CONGI<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be showing some of their fresh\u00a0new beats. The main battle of the night comes from <\/span><b><a href=\";fref=ts\">WARIKO<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who has over 80k views on a freestyle video he did for <strong>Tim Westwood<\/strong> on<strong> 1Xtra<\/strong>\u00a0a lil while back. The Warsop five-piece could very possibly be making history becoming the first ever unsigned Nottingham act to sell out <strong>Rock City<\/strong> (kind of a big deal, dontcha know).\u00a0<\/span><b><a href=\"\">FEROCIOUS DOG<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> put their own take on traditional Celtic Folk by taking the storytelling lyrics and adding a heavier Rock side. After playing shows across the country, the band have developed an immense energetic live presence and refined sound. This is the final night of their 21 date \u2018<em>From Without<\/em>\u2019 headline tour. As you pop down to make history, make sure you bring a can or three of food\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0FD are using this gig as an opp to collect food for the homeless. Massive respect FD!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There will also be an acoustic session in the <\/span><b>Basement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from 2.30pm with a load of Nottingham acts including <\/span><b><a href=\"\">SAM JONES<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from Mansfield. Sam performed at Splendour back in 2013 after they opened the entire festival early to make sure he\u2019d have a spot on the line up. Combining Folk, Rock and Punk, <\/span><b><a href=\"\">BRAD DEAR<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be performing.
