There&#8217;s plenty of New Notts musical action to get involved with this week, including an Indie Pop Rock headline show at <strong><a href=\"\">Rescue Rooms<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"\">Rough Trade<\/a><\/strong> are showcasing some of the best\u00a0upcoming artists\u00a0and there\u2019s an Indie Pop headline show at <strong><a href=\"\">The Bodega<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><b>GIG ONE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Thursday<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After supporting both <\/span><b>Coasts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b><a href=\"\">APRIL TOWERS<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the venue last year, <\/span><b><a href=\"\">SUSPECT ALIBI<\/a><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be taking to the stage at <strong>Rescue Rooms<\/strong> on Thursday for their own headline show. Not a bad way to kick off the new year, ay? The West Bridgford five-piece formed back in 2012 and have been making Indie Pop Rock ever since. The band were the winners of <strong>#FSN2015<\/strong> which led to them playing Splendour in July. Their anthemic sound is fuelled by synth keys, refined guitars and catchy choruses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support comes from <\/span><b><a href=\"\">THE MOCKING JAYS<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who released their debut EP \u2018<em>TMJ<\/em>\u2019 last month over at <a href=\"\"><strong>The Maze<\/strong><\/a> and also received their first National radio play on <strong>6Music<\/strong>. The four-piece create Pop infused with Indie stylings,\u00a0refined riffs and choruses so catchy you&#8217;ll be singing &#8217;em as if you&#8217;ve heard them hundreds of times before!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"\">THE SPECIES<\/a><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are the second support act of the evening. The four piece create Alternative Rock inspired by late 60s Psychedelia which they describe as \u201cheavy, gloomy and delicately dissonant.\u201d But it\u2019s not anywhere near as depressing as they make it sound. Promise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"\">NO DISCO<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are also supporting on Thursday. They released their EP \u2018<em>Just Visiting<\/em>\u2019 at the end of November showcasing their Pop laced, Indie Rock sound. The three piece create music reminiscent of the mid-noughties filled with refined riffs and memorable hooks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Black Cats &amp; Magpies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from Derbyshire will also be supporting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Rescue Rooms<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thursday 7th January<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 6pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tickets: \u00a36<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>GIG TWO<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Friday<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\"><strong>Can\u2019t Stop Won\u2019t Stop<\/strong> <\/a>(CSWS) is coming to <strong>Rough Trade<\/strong> on Friday. They&#8217;ll be\u00a0bringing you a range of R&amp;B, Hip Hop, House and Funk from some of Notts&#8217; finest\u00a0as well as resident DJs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"\">ELLA KNIGHT<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be performing on Friday. The seventeen year old has a gorgeously soulful voice that shines through on all her varied styles of music. She\u2019s already performed in front of the Royal Family and got a picture with Haz and Wills (jealous? Me? How dare you). Not many musicians can say that just a few years into their career.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Poet, rapper and producer <\/span><b><a href=\"\">J GOLD<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was born into a family of musicians and began creating his own music from an early age. His track \u2018<em>Soul On My Sleeve<\/em>\u2019 was played on <strong>1Xtra<\/strong> in early 2015 by Nottingham\u2019s own Mista Jam. <\/span><b><a href=\";fref=ts\">KAMAR<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who features on the track, will also be performing on the evening. You can also catch <\/span><b><a href=\"\">KC DA ROOKEE<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who has recently returned to the scene after falling back in love with Hip Hop. The artists have just collaboratively released a mixtape under <strong>LTMT<\/strong>, which stands for Let The Music Talk. The project are showcasing their new wave of music and individual sound.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Electronic mastermind <a href=\"\"><strong>EARLY BIRD<\/strong><\/a> will be providing the beats.<\/p>\n<p><b>Rough Trade<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friday 8th January<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 7pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tickets: FREE<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>GIG THREE <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Saturday<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saturday night sees <\/span><b><a href=\"\">ASHFIELDS<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> headline <strong>The Bodega<\/strong>! After forming back in March 2014 (which was actually nearly two years ago, not the other day. Yeah, I know!) the five-piece from Sutton-in-Ashfield have gone onto play <a href=\"\"><strong>The Royal Concert Hall<\/strong><\/a> and come 3rd in Q Magazine\u2019s Richer Unsigned Indie Chart 2015. Not too bad, ay? They create Indie Pop with a slightly darker side to it, recently releasing a video to new single \u2018<em>The Wild<\/em>\u2019 from their upcoming debut EP. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"\">ANWYN WILLIAMS<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be supporting on the evening. Creating her own style of Acoustic Country Folk influenced by the likes of <\/span><b>Joni Mitchell<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Stevie Nicks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Writing beautifully honest and storytelling lyrics performed with her sweet, Country twanged voice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also supporting will be <\/span><b><a href=\"\">PAT CUNNINGHAM<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Pat is a guitar master\/genius\/god and has recently started teaching his magical guitar ways at bootcamps in Mansfield. He had to take a break from gigging for a while last year after suffering with his wrist from playing his guitar too much (that&#8217;s dedication!)
