You see, as usual there&#8217;s tons of ace live Notts music going off this week. But, this week, most of it falls on the Saturday. Ooooh, decisions.\u00a0It\u2019s now up to you to chose which one you go to\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SATURDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Describing their music to us back in summer 2015 as \u2018<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a petrol powered horse and cart\u2019, <\/span><b><a href=\"\">KAGOULE<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are not your ordinary Alternative Rock band. I mean for a start what does Alternative Rock even mean (it\u2019s a rice pudding description of a music genre) and two, this tripod of creativeness released their debut album \u2018<em>Urth<\/em>\u2019 to critical acclaim whilst in their teens. C\u2019mon guys, what are you eating for breakfast?! Formed half a decade ago whilst at school, Cai, Lucy and Lawrence were looking for something to pass the time. Little did they know that the band playing in the school hall would end up sharing stages with <\/span><b>Johnny Marr<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, performing at Glastonbury and be written about in NME, Rolling Stone and The Guardian. Kagoule\u2019s sound is one that will take you by the earlobes, thrash you about with punchy choruses and catchy harmonies then\u00a0leave you feeling beautifully battered. They\u2019re back at <\/span><b><a href=\"\">The Bodega<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for what will be a raucous affair &#8211; oh and remember to bring some shrapnel for Lawrence\u2019s wickedly designed merch. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Noisy, wonky grooves from Notts&#8221; they say, inspired by June of 44 they say, <\/span><b><a href=\"\">PRE-BIRDS<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are the mysterious band supporting <a href=\"\"><strong>KAGOULE<\/strong><\/a>. With one righteous Post-Hardcore song on Soundcloud, there\u2019s not much to describe this trio apart from their sound will punch you in the face (in the most courteous way of course, or maybe not). A forthcoming EP due sometime in May, perhaps all will be revealed&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Noisy-Rock trio <\/span><b>Mums<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from Widnes will also be supporting. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Bodega<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 7pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tickets: \u00a37<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SATURDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fancy a day full of eclectic music in a\u00a0beer garden?\u00a0Of course you do, and luckily for you, <a href=\"\"><strong>Nearstock<\/strong><\/a> has got you covered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will <\/span><b><a href=\"\">UNKOWN ERA<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ever stop playing gigs?\u00a0We doubt it cos\u00a0they love it too much and after a 10 date UK tour they\u2019re straight back at it treating <\/span><b>Nearstock<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to a delicious Hip Hop, Reggae, Gypsy Soundcombo. Representing the ladieeees, duo <\/span><b><a href=\"\">CATS CHARIS<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 seductive sound has a 1950s burlesque feel. Flirting with your earhole, they\u2019ll have you hooked on their jazzy melodies and Swing beat. <\/span><b>BARON LEWIS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be shining a light on Rock\/Soul\/Country music. With a fantastic gruff tone, Baron sounds like he should be playing in Nevada and not Nottinghamshire &#8211; but hey we\u2019re not complaining! Spreading the weekend love will be the <\/span><b><a href=\"\">BRAD DEAR BAND<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. They chime a Folk\/Rock\/Punk sound &#8211; I even heard a bit of Country in song \u2018<em>Special Brew<\/em>\u2019, which alas was not about the drink. Think <\/span><b>Frank Turner\u2019s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sound but deeper and more subdued, maybe Frank Turner after a couple of Special Brew&#8230;yeah we\u2019ll go with that. A whole load of songs, a guitar, and a lust for life \u2026 that\u2019s what you get when you listen to <\/span><b>BRIAN JONES<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Seeing his energy on stage might just make you think \u2018life begins at 50\u2019. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also performing is Derbyshire lass <\/span><b>Paige Seabridge<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Jake Smallbones<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from Halifax and <\/span><b>Fanzines<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Royal Oak, East Bridgford<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 4pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entry: \u00a35<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SATURDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another event to wet your whistle, <a href=\"\"><strong>I&#8217;m Not From London<\/strong><\/a> will be back at\u00a0<\/span><b><a href=\"\">Black Iris Brewery<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0hosting a &#8220;balls out Blues\/Psyche night&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Progressive Space Rock with plenty of synths and moody guitar chords, <\/span><b><a href=\"\">LORD HA HA<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will have you trippin out with their &#8220;psychotropic shitstorm&#8221;. With members called Shaggy and Milk, this six piece feel like they\u2019re from another era or maybe another planet. We\u2019re not sure but with \u2018alien space lighting and projections from Lord Metempsychosis\u2019 prepare to get wavey. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Described as &#8220;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The gruffest blues to fall this side of the Trent&#8221;, <\/span><b><a href=\"\">94 GUNSHIPS<\/a>&#8216;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Bluegrass feel is sharpened by Rob Davidson\u2019s rusty vocals (rusty in a chipped paint sorta way, not rusty as unpractised). If you\u2019re not humming &#8220;Oh My Darling&#8221; to song \u2018<em>Take My Coin<\/em>\u2019 we don\u2019t know what\u2019s wrong with you because it\u2019s been stuck in my my head for hours! American spirit vibes here in Nottingham.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to their FB page &#8220;Most things haven\u2019t worked out&#8221; &#8211; but, have you heard a good Blues band sing about positive stuff? We think <\/span><b><a href=\"\">DUSTY BIBLE &amp; The CANADIANS<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are giving themselves too much of a hard time when Notts can\u2019t get enough of their Blues\/Rock concoction.
