It\u2019s officially (kind of, for one uni) the last week of those student types hanging around these parts, alas they will be missed, apart from on a Wednesday &#8211; if I have to see another Where\u2019s Wally chucking up on a Wednesday I think that\u2019ll be the end of me. Anyway for a final blow out we have a <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>Ukiyo Records<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> showcase at <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>The Bodega<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b><a href=\"\">SEAS OF MIRTH\u2019S<\/a>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">album launch party and an Alt-Rock all-nighter at <\/span><b><a href=\"\">The Maze<\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>SATURDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Showcasing four brilliant Notts artists, <strong>Ukiyo Records<\/strong> make roost for one night at <\/span><b>The Bodega<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Armed with a piano, beats and synths, <\/span><b><a href=\"\">LOWRIE<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a multitalented instrumentalist whose ghostly vocals will have your eyes sweating (I mean crying when I say that). Following the release of his debut mixtape \u2018<em>Floating Points<\/em>\u2019 in March, Lowrie has played a string of gigs revealing how one man can make a \u2018polyphonic\u2019 sound. At times gentle, at times striking, your emotions will be in bedlam.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The effortlessly named <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>MOLLY AND JACK<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> met when they were four years old. Now they\u2019re together producing a blend of beaut\u00a0Indie\/Acoustic\/Folk. Debut EP \u2018<em>Many A Moon<\/em>\u2019 came out last year and captures the wholesomeness of pure, authentic voices and guitars. Listening to these two will make you wanna reach for a loving embrace (but maybe hold up till you get home so you don\u2019t freak out the person next to you).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A supeeeeeer talented lady, <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>BETH FRISBY<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a master on the violin, a fantastic keyboard and guitar player and an incredible singer with an expressive voice. Her dark ambient Pop has seen a play on Radio 1 by <\/span><b>Huw Stephens<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well as plenty of other National loving. She&#8217;s back in the studio recording, so, will we get a chance to hear something new from the forthcoming EP? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>JAMIE MOON<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Not <strong>Jamie Woon<\/strong> that other singer-songwriter blokey) is also representing Ukiyo. As it starts getting more summery all I want to do is wander out into the woods with an old VHS camera and listen to \u2018<em>Oh, My Heart<\/em>\u2019 (ok yes I have watched the video to \u2018<em>Fear For Your Life<\/em>\u2019 too many times). The end is nigh! Pick up your vessel of grog and make way to the <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>Nottingham Contemporary <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">as 9 \u2018bawdy bellowing buccaneers\u2019 sail to our shores to bring to you the almighty, the all-magnificent debut album \u2018<em>Hark! The Headland Approacheth!<\/em>\u2019. These nautical scallywags know a thing or two about partying so prepare for a beastly blow-out. A typhoon of folk instrumentation, worldly rhythms and Prog-Rock influences,<a href=\"\"> <b>SEAS OF MIRTH<\/b><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0are bizarre, energetic and swashbuckling fun. Spinning yarns of seafaring adventures, these \u2018rugged reprobates\u2019 have a summer of festivals that most of you would turn green-eyed at. Catch this chaotic cacophony while you can and be sure to steal yourself a bit of treasure, arrrrrggghhh! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supporting our pirate brethren is <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>94 GUNSHIPS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Ready to blow you out the water, Will and Rob\u2019s gruff Bluesy vocals sounds as\u00a0<a href=\"\"><strong>Under The Tree&#8217;s<\/strong><\/a> Kim Winter perfectly put it, \u2018as whisky tastes\u2019. Accompanied by twangy instrumental parts, they doth blow a good a tune as they say. After dark? All night? Good job we have an after dark Alternative Rock all nighter for you then isn\u2019t it&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dark and mysterious, four piece <\/span><b><a href=\"\">ZADKIEL<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> combine beautifully melodic vocals with moody Indie Rock vibes. <\/span><b>Nirvana<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> meets <\/span><b>Jeff Buckley <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with maybe a little bit of <\/span><b>Radiohead<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> thrown in\u2026 a sensuous sound for your earholes. Following their album \u2018<em>The Saturn Return<\/em>\u2019, a new EP will be dropped this summer hopefully showcasing some of their new influences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Showing no signs of dawdling, Post Punk\/Indie-Rock band <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>PRIME<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are gearing up to release their first proper single \u2018<em>To Be Or Not To Be<\/em>\u2019 on June 17th. Having already released a mini album and EP since their inception in 2014, they\u2019ve got three releases planned this year. Their sound is a tantalising concoction of heavy riffs, powerful drums and socially acute if not slightly anarchic lyrics. Brash and bold, a great energy live. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>IN ISOLATION<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> embody a certain \u2018Back To The Future\u2019 type vibe. They draw inspiration from the Post Punk 80s but still have a 2016 edge. If <\/span><b>The Editors, The Cure <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and<\/span><b> Bowie<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> had a threesome (well firstly that would be interesting wouldn\u2019t it) we might just get a sorta II sprog. Creating \u2018a sound that your ears may well want to get into bed with\u2019, you\u2019ll be schmoozed and bamboozed before the end. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mos<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">t of you would think a marriage between Hip Hop and Rock would end quickly in divorce. Rock would get moody and say \u2018stuff this, you jumpy breaky sod you\u2019. Undoubtedly Hip Hop would reply \u2018You just want thick guitar riffs and heavy drum beats and I can\u2019t give you that\u2019 and it would all break down and be very messy. Well that was a long (and rather painful) way of saying <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>DEF GOLDBLUM <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">do the fusion most convincingly.
