In fact, ya best get those running shoes on, cos there&#8217;s plenty to get around this Friday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><b>GIG ONE<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>PAPER SHOP DAVE <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">take over <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>The Bodega<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> this Friday and they\u2019re bringing some of Notts\u2019 finest new Indie bands with them too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re unfamiliar with PSD, first up, you should probably watch their<\/span><a href=\"\"><b> Future Session<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Now you\u2019ve done that, you have an idea\u2026 right? Funny how those video things work. Anyways &#8211; that was in January, we\u2019ve heard that the PSD boys have got some new tunes together now and they\u2019re gonna be sharing \u2018em with you lucky sods right here (well, The Bodega) on Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>VEGA BAY<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are supporting. You may have heard of these guys when they went by the name of <strong>INK<\/strong>, but something tells us that made em quite hard to find on Google! Anyways, they\u2019re back with a new name, and a slightly tweaked sound. What sound is that? A very melodic mish mash of Pop\/Indie\/Rock, which, again, is quite hard to describe. Why don\u2019t ya just have a listen <a href=\"\">HERE<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also supporting are <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>SHORT WEEKENDS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a band that sum up everything that you love about Indie Rock. Swagger, catchy riffs and a very distinct vocal. Plus, they have the addition of some awesome keyboard \/ synth action too. They\u2019ll make ya dance &#8211; but you know, a cool kind of Indie dance. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Bodega<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 7pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Price: \u00a35<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>GIG TWO<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friday Club takes over <a href=\"\"><strong>Retro Rooms<\/strong><\/a> (the old Cookie Club) this Friday, and they\u2019re bringing some awesome guitar bands with them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>PRETTY CITIZENS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> kick things off with their Alt-Indie stylings. Debut single <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lost Control<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a blissful piece of guitar-led Alt-Rock, which almost touches on Shoegaze at points. It\u2019s raw, but also slick at the same time. Catchy, but well crafted. You should probably have a listen to see if my description just made any sense.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>AMULET<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the new full band project of <\/span><b>JOE &amp; MIKE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will also be taking to the stage with their swaggerful Indie. In the few new songs we\u2019ve heard from <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>AMULET<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we\u2019ve been blown away by the tightness of their songs &#8211; especially some of their guitar riffs. They\u2019re the kind of riffs that every kid ever has wanted to play, and often just ended up playing on guitar hero. Plus, they\u2019ve got some damn catchy choruses too. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also playing are Pop-Rockers<\/span><a href=\"\"><b> THE HARMONICS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. They\u2019re a band that have mastered the pop song &#8211; three minute blasts of catchy melodic perfection, whilst also topping them off with some \u2018designed for air guitar\u2019 riffs too. Check their <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>Future Session<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> if ya want an idea of what to expect. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Retro Rooms<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 7pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Price: \u00a33<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>GIG THREE<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>THE SPECIES<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are back with a brand new EP, and to celebrate they\u2019re throwing a bit of a shindig down at <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>The Lofthouse<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The band self-proclaim themselves as \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">heavy, gloomy and delicately dissonant\u201d, so that hopefully gives you a reasonable idea of what to expect. Moody, atmospheric guitar riffs &#8211; but the kind of swagger you\u2019d only ever find in the coolest of Indie Rock bands. And, of course, the opportunity to buy the ace new EP on the night!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supporting we have<\/span><a href=\"\"><b> BLACK SHIVER<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a two piece that manage to do both massive <strong>Royal Blood<\/strong>-esque Rock anthems, and beaut ballad\u2019s at the same time. And to say there\u2019s only two of them &#8211; they build a bloody massive wall of sound. We\u2019re sure they\u2019ll send some shivers down your spine\u2026 ya know cos\u2026 *tumbleweed*.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also supporting will be the solo venture of <\/span><b><a href=\"\">SEA MONSTER EYES\u2019<\/a>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Phil Grafton. On his todd, Phil swaps it up big time genre wise. A quick flick through his YouTube, and you\u2019ll find chill acoustic ballad\u2019s, funky, almost Jazz tunes, and some interesting stuff that we don\u2019t quite know how to describe.
