Photo Credit: unknown<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Olympics may be kicking off this week over in Brazil, but if there was a musical Olympics, I am pretty damn certain that Nottingham would win the whole thing! This week there&#8217;s a three day long\u00a0showcase of\u00a0new talent at\u00a0<a href=\"\"><strong>The Bodega<\/strong><\/a>, Waterfront Festival at\u00a0<a href=\"\"><strong>The Canalhouse<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and a \u2018Melodica Festival\u2019 at\u00a0<strong><a href=\";fref=ts\">Rough Trade<\/a>\u00a0\/\u00a0<a href=\"\">Jam Cafe<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>THURSDAY, FRIDAY &amp; SATURDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s a lot happening at\u00a0<strong>The Bodega<\/strong>\u00a0this week\u2026 Get it?.. cos it\u2019s \u2018<em>Happening at The Bodega<\/em>\u2019? Yeah, anyway\u2026 They&#8217;ve got together some of their favourite acts across three nights to celebrate all the upcoming talent that has blessed the people of Nottingham.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Everything kicks off on Thursday night, with a whole host of Nottingham acts taking to the stage. Groovacious Space Rockers,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>SUNSET NEBULA<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, will send you into an outer-worldly experience with their celestial sound (have you noticed that they like space?).\u00a0<\/span><a href=\";fref=ts\"><b>JAMIE MOON<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will be pulling at every heart string on Pelham Street with his beautiful Acoustic Folk. His latest EP \u2018<em>Oh, My Heart<\/em>\u2019 came out back in February and it is definitely a tearjerker. You can also catch\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>JOSEPH KNIGHT<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0on Friday night. He released his debut EP in June and is already on a mission to release even more music. Maybe we\u2019ll be hearing some new songs? And finally,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>BILLIE<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will be enchanting the crowd with her ethereal, soaring vocal and story-telling lyrics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After a jam-packed set at Y Not festival last week,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>DECO<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will be showcasing their Indie Pop to the Bodega crowd on Friday night. Electro-Pop duo\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>PRYSM<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will be playing. Let\u2019s hope they play their summery single \u2018<em>Brazil<\/em>\u2019 &#8211; as it couldn\u2019t be more appropriate. After an incredible set at Splendour,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>JONNY OLLEY<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will be showing the Bodega what he\u2019s got &#8211; some killer riffs and cheeky, clever lyrics. And finally,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>JIMI MACK\u00a0<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be bringing a touch of folk with his soulful Irish roots.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saturday sees Indie Pop five-piece\u00a0<\/span><a href=\";fref=ts\"><b>ASHFIELDS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0take to the Bodega stage, which must be starting to feel like their second home. Make sure you keep an eye out for their glitter-filled Future Session, it\u2019s definitely not one to miss. The super talented\u00a0<\/span><a href=\";fref=ts\"><b>ROB GREEN<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will also be performing. With a unique voice, amazing songwriting skills and a whole load of charisma, Rob puts on one hell of a show. Finally,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>HOLLY TAYLOR-GAMBLE\u00a0<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be bringing her unique, beautiful vocal to create a unique soundscape.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Bodega<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11th-13th August<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tickets: \u00a35 for one day, \u00a310 for weekend<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SATURDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The annual\u00a0<a href=\"\"><strong>Nottingham Waterfront Festival<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is kicking off at the\u00a0<strong>Canalhouse<\/strong>\u00a0on Saturday and bringing acts from every inch of our beautiful county. There\u2019s three stages, each with countless Nottingham acts playing. And it gets even better, the event is all for charity. The Nottingham Waterfront Festival have chosen three charities to raise money for this year &#8211;\u00a0<strong>The Wolfson Cystic Fibrosis Centre, The John Eastwood Hospice Trust and Brake.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\";fref=ts\"><strong>LeftLion<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0are hosting the upstairs stage at this year\u2019s festival and are bringing along some incredible Nottingham artists. Headlining the event are\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>APRIL TOWERS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Electro-Pop duo who have received tons of love from Fifa players across the globe. You can catch UoN lads\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>TUSK<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0filling the room with their powerful, unique Indie Rock. Check out their Future Session\u00a0<a href=\"\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>. Girl power duo\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>YOU WANT FOX\u00a0<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be performing their glamorously grungey Garage Rock with a killer beat perfect for some serious strutting. Plus plenty more lovely Notts humans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\"><strong>Gigantic Tickets<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0are hosting the downstairs stage, which will be opened by\u00a0<\/span><a href=\";ref=br_tf&amp;qsefr=1\"><b>SUPER FURNITURE<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. They\u2019re getting good at the whole opening festivals malarkey aren\u2019t they? The huge ska\/jazz\/rock seven-piece\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>CHESHIRE AND THE CAT<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will follow, bringing enough energy to fuel all the cat sanctuaries across the county. Another cat-related band,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>CATBONE<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, will be playing the Gigantic Stage bringing even more energy to those poor cat sanctuaries. Sadly, no more cat themed bands play this stage, but\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><strong>plenty more amazing artists<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0do.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\"><strong>Under The Tree<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0are hosting the outdoor stage on Saturday, which will be headlined by\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>THREE GIRL RHUMBA<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. They\u2019re sure to get the crowd Rhumba-ing away (or just regular awkward dancing). Perfect for a bit of sun,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>THE GOLDEN TROUBADOURS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will be bringing their dreamy laid-back Alt-Country.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>LIA WHITE<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0is becoming a bit of a YouTube sensation with over 50,000 views on her channel. We\u2019ll talk about them, and if you\u2019re interested in the eclectic international mixed bag of other acts, ya can check out the event page\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>HERE<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So,\u00a0<\/span><b>Rough Trade\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211;\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>SPACESHIPS ARE COOL<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will kick off the local loving, with their\u2026 well, rather spacey tunes. Falling somewhere between Folk and Electronica, these guys will intrigue your ears and have ya feeling all happy inside. Awh.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>KETO<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0are up next with their stunning Lo-Fi Folk. Vocalist Leah has a voice that will hypnotize your ears into a state of pure ecstasy, and believe us when we say &#8211; you won\u2019t want their set to end.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>94 GUNSHIPS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0pick up the pace a bit with their foot-stomping Blues. They\u2019re rate good at getting a group sing along going, so get your vocal chords in tune now! Finally,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>WE SHOW UP ON RADAR<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will take to the stage. WSUOR has been described by Radio 1\u2019s Huw Stephens as \u201ca thing of beauty&#8221;, and he&#8217;s not wrong. The vocals, the melodies, the songwriting, they&#8217;re all rather beautiful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And as for the\u00a0<\/span><b>Jam Cafe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Sunday lineup\u2026 it hasn\u2019t been revealed yet. BUT, we\u2019re sure it will be ace.
