This week\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>INFL<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0are putting on a new band showcase, there\u2019s \u2018The Summer Big One\u2019 happening at\u00a0<\/span><b><a href=\"\">The Maze<\/a><\/b>,<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>Phlexx Records<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0are teaming up with some of their awesome friends at\u00a0<\/span><a href=\";fref=ts\"><b>The Contemporary<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>THURSDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>INFL<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>The Southbank Bar<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0have recently come together to create a new free band showcase called Nightfish, and it returns this Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Headlining the event are\u00a0<\/span><a href=\";fref=ts\"><b>TWIN KIDD<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. After only forming late last year, the band had their debut gig at<a href=\"\"><strong>\u00a0The Bodega<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and have already been played on\u00a0<a href=\"\"><strong>BBC 6 Music<\/strong><\/a>. These guys don\u2019t mess around. The three piece make Alt Pop, headed by singer Stef Williamson, released their debut EP &#8216;<em>Fold<\/em>&#8216; in June.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>DEAR VICTOR<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0are a Rock n\u2019 Roll band made up of five local students determined to show their music off to as many people who will listen. Although they have only released one track to date &#8211;\u00a0<\/span><i>\u2018Debonair\u2019,<\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0the band pride themselves on the diversity of their sound and their immersive live experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, the band with possibly my favourite band name to date,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>CHERRY HEX AND THE DREAM CHURCH<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will be performing. The NTU duo create some seriously dreamy pop with a minimalistic feel. Their latest track \u2018<\/span><i>You Always Lost In Truth Or Dare<\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 sees a bit of a change in sonic direction for the band.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Southbank Bar, Nottingham City<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thursday 18th August<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 8.30<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Free Entry<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>THURSDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Summer Big One 2016 is happening this Thursday at\u00a0<\/span><b>The Maze<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Get ready for a chilled night full of incredible performances.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The very talented\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>MATT HUMPHRIES<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will be encapturing the room with his soft, story telling vocal which, when combined with his strong, emotive songwriting, allow Matt to create beautiful songs. His duet with\u00a0<strong>Dodie Clark<\/strong>\u00a0has almost 10,000 views on YouTube. Impressive stuff, ay?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Glam Rock four-piece\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>THE DANDYLIONS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will also be performing at\u00a0<\/span><b>The Maze<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. With a love for pink and yellow, the glam rockers make sounds reminiscent of the 70s with even the wrestling masks to go with it (pink and yellow, of course).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You\u2019ll also be lucky enough to hear the beautiful sounds of singer-songwriter\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>BILLIE<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Creating ethereal soundscapes of Indie Folk with a Pop sensibility.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>BILLIE<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0is in the middle of a summer jam-packed full of gigs, from playing Y Not to the Riverside Festival. She\u2019s releasing her debut EP in October so keep your eyes (and ears) peeled for that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also performing are\u00a0<\/span><b>Black Thorn\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and\u00a0<\/span><b>Scribble Victory\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from Derbyshire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Maze<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thursday 18th August<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 7pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tickets: \u00a35.50<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SATURDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Phlexx Records<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0&amp; Friends is back for the third time this Saturday at the\u00a0<\/span><b>Contemporary<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Phlexx are teaming up with some of their favourite Notts acts to bring you a night full of music, all for free!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\";fref=ts\"><b>DAISY GODFREY<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0is headlining the event bringing some impressive hair and an even more impressive voice. Daisy and her guitarist Ryan have a chemistry that allows them to create effortlessly beautiful soulful Pop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can also catch\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>BENJAMIN ZIEC<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(who you might recognise as\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>TREKKAH<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) bringing another side to his music, with his boppy Reggae acoustic sound. He\u2019s recently been uploading attic sessions to his facebook page, where he plays some of his originals in (you\u2019ll never guess where&#8230;) his attic. And they&#8217;re pretty damn awesome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>ALTA PUEBLO<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0describe themselves as \u201ca band like the\u00a0<strong>V<\/strong><\/span><b>elvet Underground<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2026 but very different.\u201d If that isn\u2019t a good enough explanation for you then I\u2019m not quite sure what is. In reality their Reggae Folk transports you to a beach front cafe. And you don&#8217;t have to pay, sweet!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>RVR<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0are a fresh new Hip Hop\/Rap collective featuring members including\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>A DEE<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u00a0<\/span><b>BARZAN<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><b>NAT<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Although the group are newly formed, the members have years of experience in what they do meaning they put on a killer performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, you\u2019ll be able to catch singer\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>ONKAUR<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You may recognise her from performing with Spoken Word artist<a href=\"\"><strong>\u00a0RAPHAEL BLAKE<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0as well as playing tons of solo gigs around Notts.
