Well &#8211; this week, even more so, as we&#8217;ve got two A W E S O M E lineups full of Notts music, all in the name of charity, plus a banging new festival dedicated to all things Electronic. Ahh, happy souls.<\/p>\n<p><b>WEDNESDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This Wednesday sees \u2018The Big Live Summer\u2019 take over <a href=\"\"><strong>The Level<\/strong> <\/a>(part of NTSU) for a night full of ace Notts bands &#8211; all for <strong>Teenage Cancer Trust<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The brilliantly named <a href=\"\"><strong>EVERYTHING RHYMES WITH PURPLE<\/strong><\/a> kick things off with their Jazzy brilliance. A bit funkeh &#8211; these fellas know how to get a groove oooonnnn. <strong><a href=\"\">#FSN2016<\/a><\/strong> champs <strong><a href=\"\">SUPER FURNITURE<\/a><\/strong> are up next with their near impossible to describe Alt-Rock. If ya like slick melodies and rocking out, these are your guys. <a href=\"\"><strong>PAPER SHOP DAVE<\/strong><\/a> then take to the stage with their classic Indie stylings. Swagger, sick riffs and some very catchy choruses &#8211; that\u2019s what ya should be expecting. <a href=\"\"><strong>ONE GIANT CAUSEWAY<\/strong><\/a> follow with their riff-tastic Indie-Rock. Their latest single \u2018<em>Last Night\u2019<\/em> is HUGE, and ya should listen on the NMP <strong><a href=\"\">HERE<\/a><\/strong>. <a href=\"\"><strong>JOSEPH KNIGHT<\/strong> <\/a>then takes to the stage (we assume, with band) to serenade us all with his soulful singer-songwriter stylings. His new songs sounded ace at <a href=\"\"><strong>Waterfront Festival<\/strong><\/a> a few weeks back! Finally, fresh from smashing it at <strong>Reading and Leeds<\/strong> &#8211; the massive sounds of <a href=\"\"><strong>TUSK<\/strong><\/a> will be headlining. Truly epic &#8211; check out their <a href=\"\"><strong>Future Session<\/strong><\/a> to get an idea of what to expect.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The Level, NTSU,<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wednesday 31st August,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 7pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Price: \u00a34 student, \u00a35 general<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>FRIDAY <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s a brand new festival taking over the streets of Hoodtown this Friday, and it\u2019s all about showing the Electronic genres some loving. It\u2019s called<a href=\"\"><strong> Broadfest<\/strong><\/a>, and brings together a load of promoters and venues in Hockley for one extended evening of awesomeness. Ya can see the full listings <strong><a href=\"\">HERE<\/a><\/strong>, here\u2019s a few things to keep your eye out for\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\"><strong>I\u2019m Not From London<\/strong><\/a> are taking over Brewdog, and are bringing a ton of live Electro-awesomeness with them. You\u2019ll find the beautiful madness of luchador duo <a href=\"\"><strong>REVENGE OF CALCULON<\/strong> <\/a>headlining, as well as live performances from synth-king <a href=\"\"><strong>SJBRAVO<\/strong><\/a>, Multi-talented local legend <a href=\"\"><strong>LOWRIE<\/strong><\/a> as well as plenty of other ace bands. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\"><strong>Clash Money<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0also have a ton of ace live acts to check out in between their rap battles. From <a href=\"\"><strong>STAN [Crook Education]<\/strong><\/a> to <a href=\";nohtml5=False\"><strong>SPACE CITY<\/strong> <\/a>and loads in between, there\u2019s a little something for everyone. And that pretty much describes the festival in one &#8211; whether you\u2019re a bass head, a grime fan, or you like a bit of a electro-band boogie, considering it\u2019s free &#8211; you\u2019ve got no excuse not to get yersen down! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Multiple venues,<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friday 2nd September,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 6pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Price: Free<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SATURDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re more into your guitars, you\u2019ll be happy to know that <a href=\"\"><strong>Macmillan Fest<\/strong><\/a> is back to satisfy your riff cravings. And &#8211; if the name didn\u2019t give it away, it\u2019s all for charity too &#8211; <strong>Macmillan<\/strong>, funnily enough. They\u2019re across a bunch of different stages this year, so we\u2019re gonna touch on the Notts headliner of each stage\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the<a href=\";fref=ts\"><strong> Rock City<\/strong><\/a> basement you\u2019ll find the incredible sounds of <a href=\"\"><strong>EVA PLAYS DEAD<\/strong><\/a>. Ironically &#8211; despite having the action \u2018play dead\u2019 in their name, you\u2019ll find yourself doing the complete opposite. They\u2019re made to have you moshing about all over the place with their high-octane tunes, and, we guarantee you\u2019ll have plenty of riff envy too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After all the moshing, you will need a little step away from the intense side of things &#8211; <a href=\"\"><strong>EYRE LLEW<\/strong><\/a> are perfect for that. In fact, they may have you go the complete opposite way, and end up in this beautiful trance of inner peace and zen. Maybe &#8211; either way they\u2019re playing Rescue Rooms, and as always will deliver some stunning Ambient sounds. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\"><strong>JUST JAMES<\/strong> <\/a>are over on the <a href=\"\"><strong>Stealth<\/strong><\/a> stage, ready to bring the Electro-Rock party. It\u2019s been a year since they last played a live show, so they\u2019ve got plenty of pent up live frustration (and awesomeness) to let out on you lovely crowd folk. Bass, riffs, and some pretty sick bars from <a href=\"\"><strong>MOTORMOUF<\/strong><\/a> too. It\u2019s bound to be a special reunion. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\"><strong>THREE GIRL RHUMBA<\/strong> <\/a>are headlining the <a href=\"\"><strong>Leftlion<\/strong><\/a> stage at <strong>Red Rooms<\/strong>\u00a0with their funky Alt-Rock. Despite the name &#8211; they\u2019re not three girls who have a passion for dancing, in fact, they\u2019re four gentlemen who know their way around a catchy melody. They ooze catchiness in fact\u2026 oh, not in that way, as in they ooze the kinda thing you wanna sing in the shower every morning. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\";fref=ts\"><strong>THE RUFFS<\/strong><\/a> headline <a href=\"\"><strong>Rescue Rooms<\/strong><\/a> acoustic stage with their gritty Rock n Roll sounds. Swaggerful, and pretty damn good at getting the crowd involved too, Connor Spray and co are the perfect accompaniment to a nice, cold\u2026 water. Remember &#8211; responsible drinking boys and girls. Go and have a sing song!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally &#8211; headlining <a href=\"\"><strong>Spanky Van Dykes<\/strong><\/a> are <a href=\"\"><strong>HELLO TOMORROW<\/strong><\/a>, the Pop-Punkers who will have you jumping up and down like you\u2019re at a <strong>Blink-182<\/strong> concert. Since winning <a href=\"\"><strong>Noise From the Next Generation<\/strong> <\/a>back in 2014, they\u2019ve gone from strength to strength, and have an ace new EP out there now.
