Over the past two weeks, the majestic <\/span>CHURCH OF THE COSMIC SKULL<\/b><\/a> have not only released their debut album, but they’ve also played a rammed out\u00a0<\/span>Rescue Rooms<\/b><\/a> show. Ya know, just your normal September. <\/span><\/p>\n

Anyways, we had the pleasure of chatting to the band as our AOM. They told us about weekly congregation, tease us about a ‘secret’ video, and give potentially the biggest love spread session that ever did exist. Maybe…<\/span><\/p>\n

Hey COTCS! Can you give us a little background to how you guys got together to from this mega band. A little history of your Notts roots?
\n<\/b>Greetings! We are all good friends from other Nottingham bands: <\/span>DYSTOPIAN FUTURE MOVIES<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>HELLSET ORCHESTRA<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>MAMMOTHWING<\/b><\/a>,<\/span> YOU SLUT!<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>IRON SWAN<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>PILGRIM FATHERS<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>ULYSSES STORM<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>ABRACADABRA<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>POLYMATH<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>EAR VINGS<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>ENGINES OF ARMAGEDDON<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>RESCUED BY WOLVES<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>DISTILLERY BLUES BAND<\/b><\/a>, <\/span>APPARATUS OF SLEEP<\/b><\/a> and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

The album launch was magnificent. How did it go for you? Were you happy?
\n<\/b>We are very happy.\u00a0<\/span>Nottingham is so supportive of new music, we are humbled and honoured. Thanks to everyone who came and made it an unprecedented night.<\/span><\/p>\n

To all the COTCS newbies, how would ya describe your music?
\n<\/b>Rock and Roll.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s the songwriting process like? Is it a 7 piece mind-bashing, or is there someone who takes the lead with it?
\n<\/b>Bill writes the songs, but everyone has freedom to develop their own parts. There are improvised parts, and very planned parts also.<\/span><\/p>\n

And linking to that – how do you guys record all your tracks? Do you all meet up together? Obviously there\u2019s seven lives involved so is it a bit of a mission to all get together or is it easy peasy?
\n<\/b>We self-recorded our new album <\/span>\u2018Is Satan Real?\u2019<\/span><\/i> at The Doom Room in Hockley. Congregation is weekly. If a member cannot attend they are forgiven.<\/span><\/p>\n

Are there any stand out tracks from the album yet that you\u2019ve had proper wicked feedback on?
\n<\/b>We’ve had great feedback on the album as a whole, CDs have been flying out as far as Mexico and Australia. \u2018<\/span>Watch it Grow<\/span><\/i>\u2019 and \u2018<\/span>Evil in your Eye<\/span><\/i>\u2019 have been mentioned a few times. People have commented on the variation throughout the album so different tracks are appealing to different people.<\/span><\/p>\n

How does it feel to have your debut album out there for everyone to listen too?
\n<\/b>Wonderful! A huge thanks to <\/span>Bilocation Records<\/b> (Germany) and <\/span>kosmik-artifactz.com<\/span><\/a> for putting it out on limited edition compact disc, available now at <\/span>cosmicskull.org<\/span><\/a>. Heavyweight coloured vinyl is coming early 2017.
\n<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n
