Photo Credit:<\/strong> Unknown<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019ve made it into 2017, and it\u2019s time to don all your best winter layers, brave the bitter cold and get trekking up to <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>The Maze<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>Rescue Rooms<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for this superb selection of gigs. Over the course of a couple of days and with a short migration between each venue, we take you from smooth candle-lit Hip-Hop and all things spoken word, to the Pop-Punktastic and Anthemic Rock.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>FRIDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kicking it all off on Friday night is <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>Acoustickle\u2019s<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> VOCAB. After the stunning launch event back in November, they are back for another showcase of incredible singers and rappers, whilst decorating<\/span><b> The Maze<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in beautiful fabrics and covering the venue in incense sticks (what else should you really be doing with a chilly January evening?) VOCAB\u2019s house band for the evening is the incredibly talented <\/span><b><a href=\"\">THREE BODY TRIO<\/a>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who\u2019ll be bringing their mix of beats, the electronic, the spacey and the jazzy. Loads of verrrrry diverse artists will be taking their turn centre stage; such as\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>EMILY FRANKLIN<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be bringing her striking retro Hip-Hop-come-Blues sound, with vocals that pack a killer punch.\u00a0The insanely versatile <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>KAMAR<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be coming along too, bringing with him dreamy Hip-Hop waves and smooth Rap skills (listen out for \u2018<em>Instagram Girl<\/em>\u2019 especially.) Joining them, having played <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">all over<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Nottingham recently, <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>ONKAUR\u2019S<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> beautiful Soul-Pop sounds will entice your ears as you settle into the comfiest evening of your life. And to add to the fun, there will be henna hand painting and hot Jamaican BBQ food all night. Here is your antidote to January, you\u2019re welcome. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Maze<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friday 20th January<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Price: \u00a35 advance and OTD \/ \u00a34 musicians<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 8pm<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SATURDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While January drags on, December falls (in <strong>Rescue Rooms<\/strong>, to be precise) [see what we did there?] <\/span><a href=\";fref=ts\"><b>AS DECEMBER FALLS <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0bring their Pop-Punk noise sensation for a massive Saturday night headline slot at <\/span><b>Rescue Rooms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Though they are Nottingham folk, recently they\u2019ve been travelling all over the country, conquering festival stages and featuring in every other rock magazine, including <\/span><b>Kerrang<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Q<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! Even their production is done by <\/span><b>Andy Walwin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><b>Busted<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Fightstar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> fame! Frontwoman Bethany Curtis will lead them through with her unique, piercing vocals and expect some killer drum lines from Lukas James too. They\u2019ve just released a new single out &#8211; \u2018<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More to You<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 &#8211; so get listening to that before you get yourselves down! You\u2019ll probably see a mosh pit and you might even see a ukelele\u2026or at least you might see one get smashed up&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joining them will be <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>HELLO TOMORROW<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! They have a very nostalgic sound to them, almost <strong>Blink 182<\/strong>-ey, though they themselves self-define as \u2018hipster dub-core transdelica\u2019. With an unending ability to create an atmosphere full of electricity, you\u2019d be dumb to not turn up early for them. Chuck on \u2018<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What the Hell\u2019s a Two Way?\u2019<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Editor Note: turns out, that\u2019s a single, not a porno) for a really good sense of what you\u2019re in for with these guys. Oh and they love pizza. They really love pizza. Maybe they\u2019ll bring pizza\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>SAY THE WORD<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be kicking off the fun with their light-hearted, upbeat Pop-Punk sound. They have striking, anthemic guitar lines like that of <\/span><b>U2<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0(yes, really) and harmonies that seem to come out of Country music somewhere, and generally when you watch them you\u2019ll just be a bit blown away and all!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Ocean Floor <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from Derbeh will also be playing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Rescue Rooms<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saturday 21st January<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Price: \u00a36 advance, \u00a38 OTD<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 6pm<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SUNDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>VANITY BOX<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are back, more brilliant than ever and ready to entertain your eyes and ears at your favourite, <\/span><b>The Maze<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (weren\u2019t you there only two days ago). Though they\u2019ve had some reforms, they have a load of new music to share, whilst still sticking to its roots but also embracing its two newest ultra-talented members, Jack and Chris. With huge chorus\u2019 and melodic guitar lines that feel like they were taken straight out of the good part of the 90s, this Indie bundle of fun is not to be missed!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The incredibly creative and original <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>STRANGE CURRENCIES <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will also be taking to the stage; prepare for PP Johnson\u2019s resounding vocals and Claudine West\u2019s extraordinary musical skills on the guitar, and mandolin, and basically any instrument! <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The dynamic of the two being ex-Rock band members but making beautiful Folk music together is delicious, strange, but intriguing. In a few words, it\u2019s like <\/span><b>Foo Fighters<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> gone <\/span><b>Peter Gabriel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The super talented <\/span><b><a href=\"\">LAUREN APRIL<\/a>\u00a0<\/b>will also be astounding on Sunday.<b> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She\u2019s had a crazy 2016, after touring all over the country thanks to some ace support slots and recording lots of new music, she\u2019s ready to show us her all. Although only twenty\u00a0years of age, she seems like a seasoned player, with that kind of voice which puts all her listeners at ease.
