I know it feels like it\u2019s been grey and raining since the dawn of time, but don\u2019t let that stop you getting out to this week\u2019s diverse selections of Notts artists doing their thang. Even better, it\u2019s like they read your mind and your wallet, all these gigs are under fiver! What\u2019s stoppin\u2019 ya?<\/span><\/p>\n

FRIDAY<\/b><\/p>\n

Only a month or so after stunning you lot in his Future Session, the Bluesy, Rockabilly\u00a0<\/span>TOM MCCARTNEY <\/b><\/a>will be launching his EP at Rough Trade<\/strong><\/a>. Though he\u2019s only aged seventeen, his voice has the weathered sound of an aged whisky drinker, seasoned with heartbreak, cigarettes and booze. Properly rock \u2018n\u2019 roll. <\/span>\u2018Well Dressed Man\u2019<\/span><\/i> is the name of the new record, and incredibly apt as Tom is always very suited, as are his eclectic band which includes a double bass and harmonica! Before Tom brings you the late night blues, he has a bunch of friends ready to play and warm you up.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opening the evening is the incredibly talented <\/span>RYAN FARMER<\/b><\/a>. With guitar progressions that sound like they came from the streams of the Appalachian mountains and mature vocals, you might be under the impression that you\u2019re listening to a badass <\/span>Ryan Adams<\/b>. Different Ryan, still awesome! Get yerself a whisky and you\u2019ll be jigging to his husky voice in the upbeat \u2018<\/span>Sixteen Tons<\/span><\/i>\u2019, but be prepared for the harrowing beauty and soaring vocals of \u2018<\/span>Down in the Morning\u2019 <\/span><\/i>that might make you cry… <\/span><\/p>\n

Lucille<\/b> are bringing the rhythm and blues too\u2026 but from Derby!<\/span><\/p>\n

If Rhythm and Blues \/ Country is a little tame for your ears, then we have a great alternative for you. <\/span><\/p>\n

THREE YEARS OF WINTER <\/b><\/a>are a three piece \u201cblackened thrash band\u201d – even their music is incredibly dark and dingey (in a good way), much like three years of winter would be (just imagine). With the immense sound that they create, it\u2019s easy to forget that they are just a three piece, with dense musical lines and tonnes of distortion. Quite appropriately these guys will be headlining this evening at Bodega<\/strong>, that they have called \u2018An evening of aggressive music\u2019. <\/span><\/p>\n

86 THE ENEMY<\/b><\/a> will be rockin up just before <\/span>TYOW<\/b> and oh BOY are they gonna bring the fun! This highly produced and high energy band were apparently kicked out of Sweden for \u201cfreaking out\u201d all the metallers in Stockholm, but Nottingham has yet to chase them out of town, so they\u2019re hitting up the humble Bodega. They\u2019ve been together for a fair while and played all over the place, not to mention a gig in a chip shop!<\/span><\/p>\n

Kicking off the night is <\/span>TURNBARRELL<\/b><\/a> with their alternative metal sounds throwing back to 90s Post-Hardcore. Here right now in 2017 they\u2019re bringing more stately and almost anxiety ridden music, and with songs about naughty things, this is definitely a 14+ show. <\/span><\/p>\n

SUNDAY<\/b><\/p>\n

The weeks not over til you\u2019ve been back to <\/span>Rough Trade <\/b>for another party gig, this time in the capable hands of <\/span>THE MOCKING JAYS<\/b><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

A band that are so often playing around Nottingham they almost need no introduction, Alt-Indie rockers <\/span>THE MOCKING JAYS<\/b><\/a> will be headlining this night’s affair. Their most recent production is kind of <\/span>We Are Scientist-y<\/b> and with sparkling guitar riffs and sing-along cues at every corner, they\u2019re sure to get you involved and joining in! They\u2019ve been busy recording some new tunes, so we could be expecting some new material from these boys too!<\/span><\/p>\n

DISTANT BLUE <\/b><\/a>will be bringing their Pop-Punk noise along, and be warned, there will be mosh pits. This upbeat three piece have a very quirky sound and will get you dancing or at least moshing for sure. Long time supporters of <\/span>THE MOCKING JAYS<\/b><\/a>, expect lots of friendly banter, and they might even have some fun merch they\u2019ll sell ya too!<\/span><\/p>\n

The Airtones<\/b> are also playing. But – they’re all about dem covers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
