Our next Nusic Academy Workshop is our biggest ever. As part of Confetti’s Industry Week, we’ve gone and got some BIG media names down to share their wisdom with you beautiful people, all for free, AND at a new venue. This time we’re at Nottingham Trent Students Union<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

WORKSHOP<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 You know what these are: several music industry experts share their advice and wisdom, you take a seat and soak it all up. Mostly led by your questions, the Workshop sees industry professionals share all their wisdom, and you get the chance to speak to \u2019em afterwards. The speakers for this Workshop are\u2026<\/p>\n

– KATE HOLDER –\u00a0<\/strong>BBC Radio 1 and 1 Xtra producer for almost 10 years. Kate has a major focus on new and undiscovered artists, producing Huw Stephen’s show.<\/p>\n

– JOHN KENNEDY –\u00a0<\/strong>Radio X’s (formerly XFM) patron saint of New Music. Having championed artists as diverse as Dizzee Rascal, Adele and M.I.A, John is one of the most important radio DJs in the UK.<\/p>\n

– ELEANOR GOODMAN –<\/strong>\u00a0Features Editor at Metal Hammer and found in mags as diverse as Kerrang! and Bizarre. Eleanor is one of the most connected individuals in alternative media.<\/p>\n

Come the end of the Workshop, there will be one of our famous Spread The Love sessions. Which is basically like speed-dating for musicians. You put your hand up and say you need something (new band member, producer, manager, video director etc etc) and then, the peeps that do what you need raise their hands. Then you make beautiful (metaphorical) musical babies.<\/p>\n

MUSICIANS ADVICE FAIR<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Like a Freshers Fair, there\u2019ll be loads of musician helping entities setting up stall before and after the workshop.\u00a0This time, we’re inviting more than ever – so ya can go have a chat with<\/p>\n

Entities confirmed so far: BBC Introducing, Confetti, County Youth Arts, DHP Local Team, Fly FM, I’m Not From London, Jam Cafe, Kemet FM, Leftlion, Nottingham Music Hub, Nottingham Trent Music Society, Nusic (we’ll represent Notts TV too), Pedestrian, Plates Records, PRS for Music Foundation, The Maze and YMCA.<\/p>\n

The event is part of Confetti\u2019s Industry Week. BUT, as with all Nusic Academy events, it is entirely open to the public! Yup, you, your brother, your bandmate, your ferret (okay, maybe not your ferret), you get the picture. Loads of free music advice, for free. Did we mention it\u2019s free?<\/p>\n

Make sure you hop on the Eventbrite ASAP to get your tickets. This is all part of the\u00a0Academy<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0part of Nusic, which aims to give musicians advice at the start of their career. Previous workshop videos and resources can be found\u00a0HERE<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
