Photo Credit:\u00a0<\/strong>Nick Edwards<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, it\u2019s September this week, which means it\u2019s the end of summer, practically autumn and only a matter of hours until we see the first of a long line of Christmas adverts. That\u2019s gone quick, huh? Hopefully these three gigs will help you savour the last bites of Summer. There\u2019s a night of Alt Rock at <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>The Maze<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a fundraiser for the homeless at <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>Rough Trade<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and a huge festival all in aid of <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>Macmillan Cancer Support<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across all the venues at Masonic Place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>THURSDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Headlining the night are Alt Rock band <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>KOLLIDER<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You may have seen their faces on Confetti\u2019s new fancy advert recently, after they won critic\u2019s choice at an NTU Battle of the Bands. Their catchy hooks and gravelly vocal make for killer Alt Rock tracks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>DEAD SOULS<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are a straight up, Alt Rock band who released their debut album, \u2018Coma\u2019, back in 2013. They\u2019ve even had love from GQ Magazine. Also, their bassist\u2019s dad invented the Curly Wurly so everyone should go to personally thank him for that gift of a chocolate bar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Maze <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">regulars, <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>WEEKENDS ON MERCURY<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are back there this Thursday. The Punk Rock three piece take influence from bands such as <\/span><b>Joy Division<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Nirvana<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and<\/span><b> Oasis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to make their own take on the genre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can also catch <\/span><b>Black Dog Anthem<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Maze<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thursday 31st August<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 7:30<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entry: \u00a34<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>FRIDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friday sees the first of <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>TuneCrush<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s Winter-Wear for the Homeless events taking place at <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>Rough Trade<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Helping to raise money for winter clothes for homeless people around Notts. Not only is it a great cause, but there\u2019s some great music as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>JIMI MACK<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s bluesy, almost Spanish sounding guitar playing and folky, husky, thick sounding vocal will leave you staring in awe. His single \u2018Salao\u2019 will prove that and the video to go with it is a must watch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Get practising you Glockenspiel synched, awkward slow bopping dance moves, ready for the incredible <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>CHERRY HEX AND THE DREAM CHURCH<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. If you\u2019re after dreamy, spacey, shoegazey Dark Pop then you need to see these two.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>THE VARLETTS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> last gig in Notts before they bugger off to Leeds (definitely a downgrade imo). The trio have mastered the art of creating infectiously catchy riffs and they\u2019re not too shabby at doing all the other bits that go into making a cracking Alt Rock track either. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Rough Trade<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thursday 1st September<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 7pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entry: \u00a33<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SATURDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>Macmillan Fest<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is back for another year, bringing together tons of acts to Nottingham to raise money for <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>Macmillan Cancer Support<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. There are 7 stages at this years festival, and a huge chunk of the 63 acts are from Notts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m going to tell you about one of the Nottingham acts from each stage.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the <\/span><b>Rescue Rooms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> stage are Nottingham\u2019s finest Glam Rock outfit, <\/span><a href=\"\"><b>THE DANDYLIONS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Expect the finest Pink and Yellow outfits you ever did see, with wrestling masks and leg warmers galore. And bring a spare carrier bag to pack in all that Pick \u2018N Mix that\u2019ll be thrown at you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>HARKEN<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be playing the <\/span><b>Rock City Basement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, just a few months after they headlined the venue for the launch of their debut EP \u2018A Feeling of Uncertainty.\u2019 Their <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Post Hardcore Alternative Rock packs one hell of a punch and is filled to the brim with passion and emotion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>GALLERY 47<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be headlining the NTSU Music Society Acoustic Stage, which is a gold mine if you wanna see some Notts talent. G47 will be releasing a \u2018political manifesto in the form of music\u2019 next month called \u2018Adversity Breeds.\u2019 From what we\u2019ve heard from it so far, it is going to be a real beaut of a record.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>LITTLE BRIBES<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be playing the Total Rock Stage (or <\/span><b>Red Rooms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) on Saturday. If you wanna see \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">four guys in skinny jeans play some brand new face melting riffs\u201d then these are your fellas. They may even roly poly across the stage for you, if you\u2019re lucky or ask very nicely.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>AS DECEMBER FALLS<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be smashing the <\/span><b>Stealth<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Stage. The furiously female fronted Rock Pop Punk four piece released their latest track \u2018Keep Dreaming\u2019 last month and it was made Mosh\u2019s Video of the Week, thanks to ADF\u2019s dedicated fanbase.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>WITCH TRIPPER<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who hail from over in Mansfield, will be playing <\/span><b>Spanky Van Dyke\u2019s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The band have been making Stoner \/ Groove Rock since 2014 and released their self-titled debut album last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last but not least,<\/span> <a href=\"\"><b>THREE YEARS OF WINTER<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be playing <\/span><b>Tap \u2018N\u2019 Tumbler<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The three piece make some proper Blackened Thrash Metal.
