Early nights*, early mornings** and hours in the library.***<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lol. JK:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*late nights<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">**erm, mornings? Is that English?<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">***hours of quality boozing (who says \u00a36.99 vodka can\u2019t taste good, amirite?)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t worry, we\u2019ve got your backs. Did you know that the ancient Egyptians used to cure their freshers\u2019 week hangovers by listening to sick bands in Nottingham? Okay, not really. But, we\u2019ve sorted the top three gigs this week just for you, so you can sit back and enjoy the ride.<\/p>\n<p><b>MONDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First up this week is Trentfest at the <strong>NTU City Campus SU bar<\/strong> (all are welcome, not just Trent students). They\u2019ve got a banging selection of bands and singers that are bringing the festival vibe to get you in the party mood, along with themed drinks and even face painting if that\u2019s what you\u2019re into. First up is\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>MOTORMOUF<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who mixes beatboxing, rap and singing through a loop machine to make a unique sound unlike anything you\u2019ve heard before. Definitely worth checking out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>THE FLAVELLS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 frontman and all round Clifton boy\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>BILLY KENNEDY<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0is making an appearance. Think amped up guitars tearing it up in your local boozer and probs offending your nan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>JAKE BURNS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0will be there with chilled vocals and an acoustic guitar. There\u2019s a strong chance you\u2019ll meet the love of your life listening to\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>JAKE BURNS<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 \u2018Stay Close to Me\u2019, so, y\u2019know, bring your A-game (and invite us to the wedding).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>B3AR<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0are also gonna be there with what they call \u2018Indie Trap\u2019. They make some really atmospheric tunes and are ones to watch on the local scene. Miles Smith\u2019s voice = &lt;3.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After all that musical romance, you\u2019re gonna need something to get you HYPEDDD for the rest of the night. Enter\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>ELMZ<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who makes hip hop tunes that will get you bouncing (I\u2019m actually bouncing as I type. Real talk). Check out his newest tune, \u2018Sound Like This\u2019,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Nottingham Trent Student Union<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Monday 25th September<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 12pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entry: Free<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>WEDNESDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, we\u2019re going up the road to\u00a0<\/span><b>The Maze<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0for some of the best guitar music going in Notts atm. <a href=\"\"><strong>TALKING TO FRANK<\/strong><\/a> are headlining, a trio which, in their own words, take influences from 60\u2019s Britpop and current alternative. The result is some seriously good tracks that will have you humming along even if you don\u2019t know the words.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>SUPER FURNITURE<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0fans will be pleased to hear that the group will be doing what they do best, i.e. smashing the guitar riffs and melting a few hearts in the process. CAUTION: you might (probably will) end up headbanging to these guys so, y\u2019know, might wanna get your neck prep in order #doyouevenlift?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\"><b>SCOTT BUGG &amp; THE VITAL FEW<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0remind us a bit of all of those 90s alternative rock songs you\u2019d hear on films like \u201810 Things I Hate About You\u2019. That, by the way, is a huge compliment. 10 Things I Hate About You is brilliant. The band, besides a really long name, have got really catchy, genre-crossing music. Give \u2018em a listen!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Maze<br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wednesday 27th September<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doors: 7:30pm<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entry: \u00a33<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>SATURDAY<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last up this week are\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>BONE CULT<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0at Spanky\u2019s.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>BONE CULT<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2026 where even to start with these two? Think metal and electronica (or \u2018death electronica\u2019) and some pretty creepy (but cool) masks, which adds to their overall vibe. The energy at their live shows gets everyone in the room headbanging, moshing, jumping up and down. You name it. The two are basically bonkers and their show will no doubt be one to remember.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only that, Nottingham&#8217;s \u2018premier bearded drag queen\u2019,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"\"><b>NANA<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, will be playing both a live set and performing a drag show later during the night (how cool does this night sound?!). Her music is a toughie to describe. It basically reminds us of a forest rave &#8211; dark, edgy and a bit out there.
