We’re still suffering from them a bit…but we still have some recommendations for you this week!

On the 14th of November at The Maze we have the ever rising Rock n Roll four piece BAND OF JACKALS headlining with support coming from THE RETROSPECTIVES, THE WAX DRAMATIC and DANIEL GRAHAM.

THE WAX DRAMATIC sound like Joy Division but a lot less depressing. Predominantly a rocky, indie-style band with synths thrown in give it a heavy electro feel. The riffs are catchy as hell and the vocals ooze with coolness…can’t wait to see them live.

BAND OF JACKALS are a band of bleedin’ good music makers. Bluesy vocals, raw riffs and mind boggling drumming… this band are without a doubt one to watch. My money is on them being big.

Doors: 8pm.
Tickets: £3 adv./£4 on the door

This Friday (18th) JAKE BUGG is playing at The Glee Club.

The recently-signed 17 year old will be gracing the stage at The Glee Club to entertain us all with his gorgeous acoustic melodies. A friend of mine recently described him as ‘the Nottingham love child of Justin Bieber and Dolly Parton’ which I’m not too sure Jake would be happy about but being compared to international superstars can’t be that bad! Check out Jake’s session with us here to see what a treat you’re in for. He was also our artist of the month in August, check out our interview with him here.

Doors: 10pm
Tickets: FREE

Orangefest at The Orange Tree on Saturday 19th of November.

DANIEL CLIFFE aka lyrical genius and acoustic God tells his stories through the magic of folksy guitar. You’d be folking silly to miss him. We also have performances from Ali Powers, Joe Rawson and Bethan Davies.

Then the night steps up a gear as the bands take to the stage. For starters we have the SOFA KING whose quick energetic party style tunes mixed with the odd dash of thrash are sure to not just warm up the crowd but leave them drenched in sweat.

Next up on the menu are LIBERATION PACT, forming in 2010 with members coming from former bands Captions and Sinatra creating an emo rock triumph. Prepare for some morbid fun.

FRESH EYES FOR THE DEAD GUY are on 3rd. If the noise these guys create were to be compared to an animal, then this animal would be a combo of a T-rex with King Kong arms and a giant scorpion tail; phenomenally badass musicians.

The trippy electro hard rock sound of APPARATUS OF SLEEP is next on the bill. Their progressive experimental style has been compared 65daysofstatic…and that can only be a compliment.

To end the night we have the ridiculously intense HOT JAPANESE GIRL. This band is faster than roadrunner with Red Bull, more powerful than a rhino on ‘roids and just bloody good fun. Get involved in the mosh pits.

Now how much is this fantastic day/afternoon/evening/night/early morning smorgasbord of music going to cost you…?

IT’S ABSOLUTELY FREE!

Doors: Midday
Tickets: FREE

Yours In Love Of New Music,
Danielle & Tom
x

‘Ello Comrades!
