With just an acoustic and a kick drum, Luke Barton\u2019s \u2018twisted folk\u2019, his percussive guitar and vocals laden with fragility will make you fall in love. Get on down early to catch Nottingham\u2019s own <strong>Ben Howard<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nFollowing with their blues-infused folk, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/injuredbirdsofficial#!\/injuredbirdsofficial\">INJURED BIRDS<\/a><\/strong> take to the mic. Signed to home-grown label and Huw Stephen\u2019s label of the week <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.denizen.uk.com\/\">Denizen Records<\/a><\/strong>, frontman Sam Kirks\u2019 beguiling vocals backed by an eclectic mix including a harmonium, xylophone and other instruments you can hit with a stick give <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/injuredbirdsofficial#!\/injuredbirdsofficial\">INJURED BIRDS<\/a><\/strong> their distinctive sound. Imagine the lovechild of <strong>David Byrne<\/strong> and <strong>Bon Iver<\/strong> being hit over the head with a ukulele and then you&#8217;re getting close. An exciting band on the rise, look out for their ep \u2018<em>Silver Birches<\/em>\u2019 out this autumn.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nHeadlining this event and preparing for the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.splendourfestival.com\/\">Splendour<\/a><\/strong> stage are the ever enthralling <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/opie.deino\">OPIE DEINO.<\/a> <\/strong> Following May\u2019s release of their \u2018<em>Facing Up<\/em>\u2019 ep which saw <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/opie.deino\">OPIE DEINO<\/a> <\/strong> upgrade from solo act to fully-fledged band, their indie acoustic pop is now \u2018a bit more danceable and a bit more fucking rad\u2019. With driving force Sian Alexandra&#8217;s flawless vocals, plucky guitar and the occasional rap, they\u2019ll take you on one hell of a journey-raising a smile one minute and a tear the next. Something special and not to be missed.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nIf you haven\u2019t been to one already, then make sure to get to <strong>The Bodega<\/strong> on the 11th for the final instalment of <strong>The Road to Splendour<\/strong>, the pinnacle of what has been an explosive series of shows exploring some of the best of what Notts has to offer. And if that wasn\u2019t enough, there will be live performances from local artist\u2019s reppin\u2019 the Nottingham music scene.
