\nMonday 16th July sees Nottingham talents GREAT BRITISH WEATHER<\/a><\/strong> and BOOTS BOOKLOVERS<\/a><\/strong> supporting Belfast-born A Plastic Rose<\/strong> at The Rescue Rooms<\/a><\/strong>.

\nDon\u2019t be fooled GREAT BRITISH WEATHER<\/a> <\/strong>are in no way similar to the drab and dreary British weather we\u2019ve been experiencing recently, instead these guys are guaranteed to get you in that summer feelin’. With quirky time signatures, catchy guitar riffs and vocals reminiscent to that of The Strokes<\/strong>, you\u2019ll find yourself nodding along in no time and getting as groovy as the basslines. With sets that are always full of fun, charm and top songs, they promise to get stuck in your head and leave you wanting more. \nAlso sure to have you bopping along are BOOTS BOOKLOVERS<\/a><\/strong>. Hailing from the mean streets of Beeston, their indie pop is packed with anthemic choruses that will have you chanting along whether you know the words or not. Deserving finalists at last year\u2019s Nusic\/DOG IS DEAD<\/a><\/strong> competition, BOOTS BOOKLOVERS<\/a><\/strong> are fun, brash and loud- the perfect gig combination! \nCalling all folk fans: On 20th July, Farmyard Records<\/a><\/strong> presents a night of Notts-tastic talent at the Jam Caf\u00e9<\/a><\/strong>.

\nAt 15 years old, FRANKIE RUDOLF<\/a><\/strong> is the youngest artist ever to get a Nusic Podcast<\/a><\/strong> Rewind<\/strong>. With a beautiful, soothing voice that will take you away and guitar skills way beyond his years, Frankie\u2019s soulful acoustic\/indie folk sounds are the perfect start to the evening. With an EP on the horizon and several gigs in the pipeline, make sure to catch this young talent while you can!

\nArmed with his backing band The Wild Gentry<\/strong>, WILL JEFFERY<\/a><\/strong> will be hitting the stage to give you a feel good performance. Gruff vocals over gypsy-folk rhythms, his \u2018beautifully shambolic smoky folk\u2019 is guaranteed to get you tapping your feet and clapping your hands. Expect the unexpected with this team of wayward troubadours.

\nHeadlining this event as part of their July tour will be champion love spreaders IN THE NORTH WOOD<\/a><\/strong>, officially the nicest band in Nottingham. It\u2019s been quite the year for the folky four, releasing their debut EP \u2018Southern Ground<\/em>\u2019 (which is available to download on ITunes<\/a><\/strong> now), making it to the Future Sound of Nottingham<\/a><\/strong> Finals and to top it off, their first UK tour! With their Mumford<\/strong>-esque tunes and dressed to impress, these guys know how to put on a show. Keep an eye out for guitarist James Perrett\u2019s funky dance moves too.

\nFor a folk filled night of fun at one of the top venues for an intimate gig, get to the Jam Caf\u00e9<\/strong> on the 20th July and what\u2019s more, this awesome gig is completely FREE! The perfect way to start the Splendour <\/strong>festivities.

\nFirst up to the mic, JOSHUA KEOGH<\/a><\/strong> kick starts this incredible list of Nott\u2019s finest. Having quickly built a strong reputation for blowing audiences away with his gorgeous voice and beautifully composed melodies, Joshua\u2019s delicate yet intense songs about love and heartbreak will play with your emotions and leave you speechless. \nHaving gained a much coveted position in the Future Sound of Nottingham<\/a><\/strong> Final last year, OPIE DEINO<\/a><\/strong> has gone from strength to strength on the local scene. Winning hoards of fans over with her captivating voice and honest narrative that many people can relate to, Opie\u2019s solo project already contained a winning formula, but leading lady Sian Alexandra has decided to take things up a notch. Bringing a backing band to the mix, the live performance will not only gain added oomph but will undoubtedly make the set \u2018a bit more danceable and a bit more fucking rad.\u2019 And who are we to argue?! \nA Future Sound of Nottingham<\/a> <\/strong>discovery, overnight sensation INDIANA<\/a><\/strong> is next on the list. With her beautiful dusky sound that brings a sense of enchantment to whoever hears it, you\u2019d be a fool to miss this guaranteed showstopper. If you enjoy understated performances that let the music do the talking, this is the artist for you. Probably one of the last times to catch her in such an intimate setting, she’s not to be missed.

\nDon\u2019t be fooled by the innocent appearance and youthful charm of SAINT RAYMOND<\/a><\/strong>. At the tender age of 17 this guy possesses the creative know-how of a musician twice his age. His simple yet supremely crafted acoustic melodies will leave you unknowingly grinning from ear to ear, something which has been picked up on by the big smoke having been signed to one of their leading managements. Watch this space!

\nNext up is performance powerhouse and definition of onstage charisma ROB GREEN<\/a><\/strong>. Rob\u2019s youthful relentless energy and songs that are so catchy you\u2019ll be singing them in your sleep is a dangerously infectious combination, and one that will leave your feet unable to stay on the courtyard floor. \nNext on the line-up having been asked back for a second time is NINA SMITH<\/a><\/strong>. Having gained respect for her hard work and natural talent from fellow musicians and audiences alike and bearing a voice that sounds even better live than it does from your headphones, Nina\u2019s performance is guaranteed to be captivating in every way. A Nusic first play four and a half years ago, this girl is not to be missed!

\nGraced with the gift of a voice so smokey and sweet, our July Artist of the Month<\/a><\/strong> NATALIE DUNCAN<\/a><\/strong> can reduce even the most hardened of souls to quivering helpless messes. Combined with songwriting that encompasses lyrics full to the brim with raw honesty which is effortlessly conveyed in her live performances, NATALIE DUNCAN<\/a><\/strong> is a Nott\u2019s rising star and with her debut album out this Monday, she’s on the way to even bigger things.

\nJAGERMEISTER STAGE<\/strong>

\nWith the Leftlion Stage<\/strong> jam-packed with Nottingham talent, it seems the Jagermeister Stage<\/a><\/strong> is being overrun too. First up and most-likely to start a mosh pit are the face-meltingly good SINNERS HIGHWAY<\/a><\/strong>. With hardcore solos, brutal drumming and THAT voice, this band have provide no frills Rock in all its glory, we salute you SINNERS HIGHWAY<\/a><\/strong>. Have a gander at their Future Session<\/a><\/strong> HERE.<\/a><\/strong>

\nFollowing with another of Nottingham\u2019s finest voices are THE BARNUM MESERVE<\/a><\/strong>. Their brooding melodies, raucous riffs and theatrical piano solos are all tied together in a neat little Rock ‘n’ Roll package by the gritty vocals of Leon Wiley creating a wall of sound that will shake the stage. Atmospheric, unique and undeniably massive, be at the Jagermeister Stage <\/strong> at 1.15pm to catch their set.

\nChampions of smart, complex rock KAPPA GAMMA<\/a><\/strong> are the next Notts act on the bill. Sounding like a slightly heavier Foals<\/strong>, these guys can be counted on to deliver a set brimming with charm, energy and banging tunes, and with Dot to Dot, Radio 1 and XFM plays now firmly under their belts, KAPPA GAMMA<\/a><\/strong> are one to watch.

\nPenultimate act on the Jagermeister Stage<\/strong> is the electric RONIKA<\/a><\/strong>. With the sound of early Madonna<\/strong> and the hooks and looks of Gwen Stefani<\/strong>, her sugar sweet electro pop will be the rush you need. Having recently remixed Little Boots<\/strong>, her collaboration with Herv\u00e9 <\/strong> and another with dance demon Mylo<\/strong> in the pipelines, RONIKA\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> the artist everyone wants a piece of and her future is looking as bright as her lipstick.

\nTHE MAIN STAGE<\/strong>

\nIt’s the slot that some of Nottingham’s finest unsigned artists competed for, opening the Splendour<\/strong> 2012 Main Stage are Future Sound of Nottingham<\/a><\/strong> winners THE AFTERDARK MOVEMENT<\/a><\/strong>. With soon to be anthem ‘Since I’ve Been Here’<\/em> and their own brand of stylish, funk-infused hip-hop, this six piece have already established themselves as local urban legends and having recently smashed it at Wireless Festival in Hyde Park, they\u2019re on the right track to becoming national ones too. Watch out, Dizzee<\/strong>.

\nThe second act on the main stage, the artist with as much buzz around him as a bee\u2019s nest, is local boy done good JAKE BUGG<\/a><\/strong>. It was nearly two years ago that Nusic\u2019s predecessor Notts Unsigned gave young Jake his first Live Session (which you can check out HERE<\/a><\/strong>). Now, named Zane Lowe\u2019s hottest record THREE times, a summer schedule packed with festivals and an album on its way, JAKE BUGG <\/a><\/strong>is one of the hottest names in the music industry right now. With songs that harness the melancholic folk and bluesy rock of the sixites, Bugg\u2019s on an unstoppable path to the top with the whole of Nottingham rooting behind him. His latest EP ‘Taste It’<\/em> is already no.5 in the Itunes album chart, here’s hoping it’ll make number 1!

\nA day brimming with entertainment, from local singer-songwriters to Hip-Hop icons, Splendour 2012<\/strong> has something for everyone and is not to be missed.
