NEW MUSIC. It’s sick, init? Well this week, features tons of new bands and artists, and most of em are playing for an awesome cause too. Big up Notts. x

THURSDAY

Them good eggs at Phlexx are doing another fundraiser full of Notts music this week, this time supporting POW Nottingham. POW, not Cow. V different.

Kicking things off we have the dreamy (as in their tunes) four piece SONDERLUST.  I’m not gonna lie to you reader, I’ve sat here tryna describe for quite some time now – and I’m struggling – cos they are so unique, in the best way. So probs just listen to their awesomeness yourself (here).  FOULE are next up bringing the psychedelic goodness, w/ plenty of catchy melodies too. A bit Indie, a bit Alternative, and with a dash sprinkling of Pop sensibility.

Headlining is the artist formerly known as HOLLY TAYLOR-GAMBLE. Who know goes by the name of AVA SAINT. Badass is probs the best word to describe Ava. Raw energy, killer style, and songs for daaaaaaaays. You’ll wanna say you were there for the rebirth of HTG.

Paper Beats Scissors from Montreal (yes, as in, Quebec) are also playing.

FRIDAY

The lovely humans that are Under The Tree are joining forces w/ Spotlight to bring you a night of beaut music over at Rough Trade Nottingham.

Kicking things off is CALLUM URQUHART bringing some rather lovely acoustic Singer-Songwriter vibes to the RT stage. Then we have the Dream-Folk-Fusion of LEONORA. Her one-liner description mentions Laura Marling and The Staves and you can defo hear the influence, but her mega distinct helps keep it super unique. Next up are the acoustic blues super-duo known as THE GIRL & THE STONE, featuring Will Jeffrey and Kim Bignell. Voices that compliment each other perfectly, and some rather beaut songs too.

Carl North & The Lonely Hearts from Manchester are also playing.

SATURDAY

Last month, Women in Music put on a killer lineup of industry talks, all about badass females, funnily enough, in the music industry. This month, they’ve teamed up w/ Phlexx Records to come to Bodega, putting on a bunch of awesome women, playing acoustic tunes for those ears of yours. And it’s all raising money for Equation too!

First up are the stunning Laura Marling-esque sounds of ALICE ROBBINS. Post coming out of studio hibernation (great idea Alice, it’s been fucking freezing!), she’s back to share them beaut acoustic tunes w/ us. Next up is a fellow Alice – ALICE SHORT. Political, honest, and also full of banging choruses. AS has been killing it with the singles (and music videos) recently.

Then there’s KELSEY SHAW who has such a belter of a voice it really does blow us away a little bit (nah seriously, we move like a whole three inches sometimes). Jest aside – she’s got a super powerful voice that’ll leave you stunned, and probs quiet. That’s nice init, when you shut up for a minute, you chatterbox, you. BONBINOME are up next, and they’re a duo thar describe themselves better than I ever could – “girls with guitars and harmonies”. BEAUTIFUL HARMONIES. That’ll leave you a bit like oh my god maaaan, and maybs do a little cry.

Theeeeeen there’s PRIMA HERA. The solo project of TWIN KIDD’s Stef Williamson. And we thiiiink this is one of her first gigs (solo, obvs). She describes her music as Lo-fi Ambient Pop, and we’re ngl guys, we’re v excited to see how that translates at good old Bodega. Finally we haveeeeee… AVA SAINT. Again. Yeah she’s bossing it bloody everywhere. But this time, a bit more chilled out as your ears will be treated to an acoustic performance. Tasty.
