‘Ello Comrades!

Hope you all enjoyed last week’s gigs! I think you’ll all agree they were absolute bangers. And we’ve got more of the same for you this week!

First up we have GLASTONBUDGET AUDITION at The Maze on Tuesday 29th.

BLUE YONDER are a band we’ve not discovered yet but our pals at LeftLion like them! They say “BLUE YONDER have been lighting up the local circuit for a while now, thanks to an eclectic mix of styles that they loosely describe as ‘acoustic roots’- even though they have an electric guitar and keyboards.”

THE GOLDEN TROUBADOURS boast infectious rhythms and memorable melodies, they’re an outfit to make a Tuesday night out worthwhile. It may be November but THE GOLDEN TROUBADOURS music can take you to a much warmer climate than Nottingham.

STARSCREEN, encompassing many playing styles, they are a highly talented band, and most importantly, they have a harmonica!

ALEXA HAWKSWORTH, she’s a one woman singer/songwriter powerhouse. Skilfully crafted songs and melodies only go to further highlight her impressive vocals that shift delicately through dynamics beautifully.

Doors: 7:30pm
Tickets: £4

Next we have two gigs in one night!

Your first option is Farmyard PresentsTHE AFTERDARK MOVEMENT, GREAT IMITATION and JUST JAMES on the 2nd of December at The Jam Cafe.

What better way to spend a Friday night than by smashing it to some great local bands…for free!

Despite appearing alongside The Cheeky Girls at this summers MyChoone Festival, THE AFTERDARK MOVEMENT are effortlessly cool. Hip/hop, Jazz, Grime, and a pinch of soul make this band unmissable. Listen out for lyrics about Nottingham Forest…unless you’re a County fan. To see how good they are, check out our Future Session with them here.

Narrowly missing out on the final of our DOG IS DEAD competition won’t phase this band. JUST JAMES are just party animals. Outrageous amounts of energy plus lightspeed rapping from Motormouf that will blow your socks off. Keep Calm and Rave On…and then check out our Future Session with them here.

Doors: 8pm
Tickets: FREE

Your second option is SWIMMING at The Broadway on Friday 2nd December.

Now you may be wondering why we’re persuading you to go to see this mighty band two weeks in a row!? Well:
A) They are still our artist of the month (just).
B) This is a very special headphone-only, binaural gig which may never happen again.

What’s binaural I hear you say? Well according to good old wiki it’s “a method of recording sound that uses two microphones, arranged with the intent to create a 3-D stereo sound sensation.” Posh, ey?

So, unless you’ve been completely ignoring us all month, you should know that SWIMMING are an awesomely talented band that fuse together glistening sounds, with dreamy vocals and catchy synths to make something beautiful. You should also know by now that their album ‘Ecstatics International’ came out a few weeks ago and is insanely good. A personal favourite of mine is ‘Kid Global’ which is currently on 52 plays in my Itunes, and counting!…53, 54.

Doors: 8pm
Tickets: FREE

Yours In Love Of New Music,
