Since one of facebook’s ‘upgrades’ where they took away useful functionality, we’ve no longer been able to keep our long established ‘success board’ going. They idea of the board was to share the good stuff going in the hope that would inspire you that you too could achieve your musical dream.

Now that we have a bit more time on our hands (see here) we’re going to write up an article twice a month with the good vibes/ success headlines from the Nottingham music scene, please drop us a line if we’ve missed anything significant – nusic@leftlion.co.uk

So let’s get into things, it’s been another buzzing fortnight for Nottingham’s music scene Comrade, let’s jump straight to the meat (or juicy bits if you’re vegy):

– Radio One debut for SAINT RAYMOND!

– Radio One debut for BABY GODZILLA!

– In fact it’s been a mother flipping amazing month for BABY G (just don’t talk about vans) after they also secured a tour support slot with Enter Shakari, I mean how cool is that? That’s right – VERY.

LIPPI (Previously Lippicool) made his debut on the 1Xtra PLAYLIST, the Introducing slot.

Six Music debut for I AM LONO, courtesy of Steve Lamacq who they met at the Introducing Masterclass.

HARLEIGHBLU’s debut single received not just a debut but a double play on BBC 1 Xtra (MistaJam). It was particularly awesome that during her interview she bigged up a lot of other Nottingham artists, we love it when musicians spread the love like that.

RONIKA’s new single received airplay on Radio One AND Six Music (the legend Giles P no less).

KIRK SPENCER received his first NME coverage as they declared ‘Something is stirring in Nottingham’, I sense another set of lamp posts and bus stop banners coming on!

CANTALOUPE new single was played on XFM.

SPLENDOUR announced there would be FOUR (yes FOUR) local acts on the main stage. How many other cities could fill the backbone of their major festival’s main stage with homegrown talent? It’s like Forest winning the league with all academy players. We are so hyped for July 20th.

INDIANA made her debut appearance on the Radio One PLAYLIST (Introducing slot) this week and her debut session from Maida Vale broadcast on Wed eve. In one of those cute little moments of fate the Universe sometimes delivers INDIANA went on the playlist on Monday 22nd April, exactly a year to the day since she stepped on to the Future Sound of Nottingham stage for her first ever gig.

– Finally potentially the most significant highlight even though it’s somewhat anecdotal. A friend who’d been out at SXSW in Texas shared that, ‘XX was without doubt the most talked about artist’. Respecting confidentiality means I can’t say who XX is but he/she/they is/are a Nottingham artist. The biggest world event in New Music, which was already going JAKE BUGG-tastic, getting super hyped about a Nottingham artist. With Jake leading the way, when that next Notts artist blows up the world is going to start joining the dots that Nottingham is the place to be if you love New Music.

Really buzzing times for Hoodtown at the mo.

Hopefully you will be you next.
