Shiver me timbers! It’s CHRISTMASSSSS!!!!!!

It’s been a mahoosive year for the Notts music scene with the ‘break-through’ sucess of JAKE BUGG, DOG IS DEAD and NATALIE DUNCAN. As if that wasn’t enough we now find ourselves spoiled with more original 100% New Notts Christmas Singles than ever before! Many of which are in aid of very worthy charity causes. Here at Nusic HQ, we’ve been keeping our eyes peeled for these tunes and we felt it was about time we rounded up the Notts music that’s been getting us in the festive mood.

Singer-songwriter JOSH KEMP thanks friends and family in a heartfelt tale about his journey back home to Nottingham in time for Christmas; something that many student’s returning home this week can relate to after receiving their first non-microwaved meal in thirteen weeks. His song, ‘Coming home to you’ makes you want to pop that bottle of champagne in celebration of Baby Jesus Fest.

On the subject of celebration, GARY J ARMSTRONG’s ‘Dance Down The Local’ Xmas single is the kind of song that makes you wanna grab your mates, have a massive group hug then toast a beer or mulled cider. With bona fide hit potential some breaking news this song is making big waves in Scandinavia going Top 10 in Sweden’s ITunes Chart! All proceeds go to charities fighting hodgkin’s lymphoma, gud’en ya lad.

JAKE BUCKLEY AND FRIENDS amaze us with their Xmas single ‘Christmas is Here’ . A great track, for a great cause (raising money for The Maggie Keswick Jencks Cancer Caring Centres), where all proceedings, yep 100%, will go to the charity. Featuring half the musicians living in Notts (he clearly has a lot of friends!) you can check a snippet of this track on the latest New Music Podcast before you go out, support and buy it HERE.

YOUNG AT HEART portray their youthful pop charm with their track ‘Christmas Is Coming’ where they sing about ‘going wild’ and taking a trip to the north pole. Take a sneak peak at their festive music video HERE.

Acoustickle’s FRAZER LOWRIE’s Xmas release ‘Santa’s A Bailiff’ is a biggie! Featured on the Xmas Nusic PODCAST, FRAZER has released a comical narrative music video for the single, which you can check out HERE. And do listen to the narrative, there’s a message there.

Vocalist of TORN SAIL, HUW COSTIN brings his emotional acoustic vibes into the form of an airy JAKE BUCKLEY inspired song ‘Full Moon at Christmas Time’. Influenced by the era of 60’s/ 70s folky rock, HUW COSTIN creates a beautiful contemporary track that’s perfect to relax to.

Adding a colorful dynamic to their track ‘Too Cold To Snow’, PREFONTAINE’s slick harmonies and chorused vocals are astonishingly impressive. Slightly less hardcore, NO EMPIRE has a boggie-fied take on their Xmas single ‘Want and Need.’ Up for dancing much?! Featuring bongos, banjos and even the sound of stepping on snow. Local Label Hello Thor has released an infectious electro pop track called ‘I Am Not Made Of Tinsel’. Another Xmas single raising money for charity, this song is the creation of our September Artist of the Month WE SHOW UP ON RADAR, who declares Christmas OPEN! As opposed to shut or half open. 3-piece rock outfit THE MADELINE RUST get into the Christmas spirit, with a belting chorus that becomes instantly memorable,This Time Next Year is a track you can check out on the New Music Podcast HERE.

‘Tis the season to be jolly and merry and now is a time to enjoy and celebrate the variety of Notts-tastic music. Thank you Notts musicians for all you create and you Nottingham for supporting the UK’s most vibrant music scene.
