Ey up,

Our next free Nusic Academy Workshop takes place at Antenna on 10th November. It sees three media/music industry experts giving their advice on getting those first breaks, as well as the return of the Nusic Academy Advice Fair.

Here’s a breakdown of what to expect…

WORKSHOP – You know what these are. Several music industry experts share their knowledge and wisdom on a panel, you take a seat and soak it all up. Mostly led by your questions, you get to learn about what YOU want. The speakers for this Nusic Academy Workshop are…

DANIEL EALAM – Promoter and Manager at DHP Family. Dan puts on shows for names as big as Ed Sheeran (his Wembley shows, if you were wondering), and manages artists such as D.I.D and INDIANA.

JACKIE PKemet FM’s Breaky Host. With Master G, Jackie plays New Notts Music on every breakfast show on Kemet, and breakfast is the most listened to show on the only station that broadcasts exclusively to Nottingham 24/7.

ALI EMMLeftLion Editor (which basically means she is the boss). Working with Music Editor Paul K, Ali overviews what New Notts Music gets coverage in each mag and on their incredibly popular website (most read music related site in Notts, dontcha know).

Come the end of the Workshop, there will be one of our famous Spread The Love sessions. Which is basically like speed-dating for musicians. You put your hand up and say you need something (new band member, producer, manager, video director etc etc) and then, the peeps that do what you need raise their hands. Then you make beautiful (metaphorical) musical babies.

ADVICE FAIR – Like a Freshers Fair, there’ll be loads of musician helping entities setting up stall before and after the Workshop. You can go up to ’em, find out what they’re about, have a bit of a chat, and hopefully walk away with plenty of wisdom, contacts and knowledge of what you’re gonna do when you get home.

Entities confirmed so far: Acoustic Rooms, Arts Council England, Leftlion, Nottingham Music Hub, Nottinghamshire Music Hub, Nusic (we’ll represent Notts TV too), Pedestrian, The Maze, YMCA, Young Creative Awards.

Oh, and have we mentioned – the event is ENTIRELY FREE. Yup, you, your brother, your bandmate, your dog (okay, maybe not your dog), you get the picture… Loads of free music advice, for free. Did we mention it’s free?

Previous workshop videos and resources can be found HERE.

And spread the love too. It’s the kind of love spreading your mates won’t give you a weird look for.
