Another week, another great set of gigs from the Nottingham music scene! This week we bring you a cracking single launch party, a Celtic-Folk St. Paddy’s Day bash, and a massive party to celebrate a new EP from one of Nottingham’s finest MC’s!

GIG ONE

First up we have PRACTICAL LOVER’S single launch party this Friday at The Chameleon. It features a stellar pop lineup and promises a few surprises as well!

PRACTICAL LOVERS make retro electro-pop, that would happily sit aside the likes of New Order and Depeche Mode. They’re often refered to as “heartbreakingly honest” in their songwriting, so don’t expect to hear happy Pop songs about roses and puppies; but do expect to hear some of the best Dark-Pop this side of 2014! You’ll also be one of the first to hear their new single “No Reply”, and if you fancy forking over an extra few quid over the entry price (£7 to be exact), you can pick up a T-Shirt, Poster and a download of the new single. Sounds pretty nifty to us!

Also on the bill are I AM LONO,the self proclaimed “Paranoid Pop” duo, who make music so addictive, it could give Flappy Bird a run for it’s money! They’ve just released their own single “Too Bright“, which is a slice of fried Pop gold, so make sure to check it out!

The electro-pop duo of the moment APRIL TOWERS will also be bringing their flawless modern take on electronically influenced pop to the stage. The crafty dossers hadn’t played their first gig until a few weeks ago, and now they’re playing bloody everywhere. It’s a good job they put on an excellent live show, isn’t it? The diverse spectrum of sounds that is RAINBOW DOWNwill also be making an appearance with his self described “Electro-Homo-Solo” pop, which really has to be heard to be understood!

Price: £3.00
Doors: 8PM

GIG TWO

Next up we have BRU-C’S EP launch at The Maze this Friday, which features plenty of great MC’s and DJ’s, courtesy of Phlexx, to take you into the early hours of the night!

BRU-C is of course the star of the night, after reaching critical acclaim with his mixtape “IAMBRU” at the end of last year, he’s back again with a new EP “Kamehameha” which features productions from a Notts all star crew that features NEON, THE ELEMENTZ and KILLJOY. So, expect to see these new tracks live, and if you’re impressed (which we’re sure you will be) you can pick a hard copy up on the night!

Also on the lineup we have the hip-hop legend that is CAPPO, as well as Don’t Flop superstar YOUTHORACLE. There’ll also be a performance from EYEZ, SAM MOORE and SABRINA SANDHU, who come together to make a bit of an hip-hop supergroup.

Price: £5
Doors: 10PM

GIG THREE

It was only last week that we had a Nottingham artist headlining the Rescue Rooms main room, and we’re very happy to say that this week, FEROCIOUS DOG is doing the same. Not only that, but it looks like it may be on it’s way to selling out!

FEROCIOUS DOG have their own unique take on Traditional Celtic-Folk, that has won them plenty of acclaim. Take a bunch of traditional instruments such as fiddles and mandolins, chuck them in a bag with some good old fashioned Rock ‘N Roll attitude and you’ll have a good idea of what to expect!

SEVEN LITTLE SISTERS will be supporting with their enormous Folk-Rock sound. Their music is in a very similar vein to FEROCIOUS DOG, so we’re sure they’ll warm the crowd up well! Maelour Hughes will also be performing.

It’s a massive accolade to even play the Rescue Rooms main hall, but to nearly sell it out is HUGE! The band are known for putting on one hell of a Celtic party, so make sure to come on down and have a right St. Paddy’s Day bash!

Price: £11.50
Doors: 6:30PM

Yours in Love of New Music,
Sam Nahirny x
