Seriously Notts, every week you come out with awesome gig after awesome gig. And this week is no different. This week INFL are putting on a new band showcase, there’s ‘The Summer Big One’ happening at The Maze, and Phlexx Records are teaming up with some of their awesome friends at The Contemporary.

THURSDAY

INFL and The Southbank Bar have recently come together to create a new free band showcase called Nightfish, and it returns this Thursday.

Headlining the event are TWIN KIDD. After only forming late last year, the band had their debut gig at The Bodega and have already been played on BBC 6 Music. These guys don’t mess around. The three piece make Alt Pop, headed by singer Stef Williamson, released their debut EP ‘Fold‘ in June.

DEAR VICTOR are a Rock n’ Roll band made up of five local students determined to show their music off to as many people who will listen. Although they have only released one track to date – ‘Debonair’, the band pride themselves on the diversity of their sound and their immersive live experience.

Finally, the band with possibly my favourite band name to date, CHERRY HEX AND THE DREAM CHURCH will be performing. The NTU duo create some seriously dreamy pop with a minimalistic feel. Their latest track ‘You Always Lost In Truth Or Dare’ sees a bit of a change in sonic direction for the band.

THURSDAY

The Summer Big One 2016 is happening this Thursday at The Maze. Get ready for a chilled night full of incredible performances.

The very talented MATT HUMPHRIES will be encapturing the room with his soft, story telling vocal which, when combined with his strong, emotive songwriting, allow Matt to create beautiful songs. His duet with Dodie Clark has almost 10,000 views on YouTube. Impressive stuff, ay?

Glam Rock four-piece THE DANDYLIONS will also be performing at The Maze. With a love for pink and yellow, the glam rockers make sounds reminiscent of the 70s with even the wrestling masks to go with it (pink and yellow, of course).

You’ll also be lucky enough to hear the beautiful sounds of singer-songwriter BILLIE. Creating ethereal soundscapes of Indie Folk with a Pop sensibility. BILLIE is in the middle of a summer jam-packed full of gigs, from playing Y Not to the Riverside Festival. She’s releasing her debut EP in October so keep your eyes (and ears) peeled for that.

Also performing are Black Thorn and Scribble Victory from Derbyshire.

SATURDAY

Phlexx Records & Friends is back for the third time this Saturday at the Contemporary. Phlexx are teaming up with some of their favourite Notts acts to bring you a night full of music, all for free!

DAISY GODFREY is headlining the event bringing some impressive hair and an even more impressive voice. Daisy and her guitarist Ryan have a chemistry that allows them to create effortlessly beautiful soulful Pop.

You can also catch BENJAMIN ZIEC (who you might recognise as TREKKAH) bringing another side to his music, with his boppy Reggae acoustic sound. He’s recently been uploading attic sessions to his facebook page, where he plays some of his originals in (you’ll never guess where…) his attic. And they’re pretty damn awesome.

ALTA PUEBLO describe themselves as “a band like the Velvet Underground… but very different.” If that isn’t a good enough explanation for you then I’m not quite sure what is. In reality their Reggae Folk transports you to a beach front cafe. And you don’t have to pay, sweet!

RVR are a fresh new Hip Hop/Rap collective featuring members including A DEEBARZAN and NAT. Although the group are newly formed, the members have years of experience in what they do meaning they put on a killer performance.

Finally, you’ll be able to catch singer ONKAUR. You may recognise her from performing with Spoken Word artist RAPHAEL BLAKE as well as playing tons of solo gigs around Notts. She released her debut EP ‘First Run’ last week, so get your ears around that.
