As another seven days pass, we have an absolutely killer lineup of gigs on the Nottingham music scene this week. Including, a headline show by one of Notts finest Pop-Punk bands, an awesome lineup of varied talent at a beautiful venue, and one of the best birthday bashes we’ve ever seen!

GIG ONE

On Tuesday evening you’ll find CUT THE HEROICS playing a stellar set at The Maze. The band are a reminder of everything you used to love about 90s pop-punk, whilst adding their own unique spin to the genre. Their upbeat, short and punchy chords as well as blunt lyrics thrown in with undeniable musical aptitude make this band one to watch! Aside from their undeniable talent, this three-piece band have infectious stage presence and an ability to get you pumping those fists in the air.

The band will be joined by a host of excellent local musicians including the beautiful chilled out Acoustic sounds of HOLLY TAYLOR-GAMBLE, the uplifting Acoustic-Pop tunes of ADAM ZAREBA, and some warm, almost Rock-esque Acoustic sounds from MATT HUMPHRIES. Not forgetting the exquisite Pop melodies you can expect from DANIEL DOBBS and the bouncy Pop-Punk of HOMETOWN HERO. With a support list like that and a band like CUT THE HEROICS, all that can really be said is, cut the excuses and make sure you’re there!

GIG TWO

Also kicking off on Tuesday, we have a showcase down at the Royal Concert Hall, which brings together some of the finest talent in Notts (with a lot of representation from the Mansfield massive.) There’ll also be a Music Industry Panel and Q&A session for advice on music careers, so the night promises to be a treat for the ears as well as the aspiring musician. Psst, if you’re after music advice, make sure to check out the deets of our upcoming Megashop!

Getting the party started are DEEPER THAN FOREVER. The exciting R&B and hip-hop band are rapidly becoming a force to be reckoned with and Tuesday night will be no exception. If you’re in your seat during their performance, here’s a tip – you’re doing it wrong!

THE AFTERDARK MOVEMENT are up next, and you should definitely still be up from your seats. Their unique blend of Jazz, Ska, Hip-Hop, Punk Rock and Reggae place them in an appealing position for lovers of these diverse musical genres. With their rhythmic grooves, soulful tunes and hypnotic energy, this may just be the rowdiest gig TRCH has every hosted!

Following are Worksop’s THE DUKES. Bringing a different, yet equally infectious vibe the Acoustic Indie Pop band are sure to have the audience ‘Hypnotised’. We should point out that there might be something in the water in Mansfield. Fellow Worksop native, ELLIE KEEGAN follows the indie band and promises to deliver true ear candy. Known for her soft-folk acoustic and eclectic tones, this young lady’s lyrical and vocal prowess will no doubt captivate and silence the audience!

Indie lovers are also catered for! Adding to an exceptional list are ASHFIELDS. Their trademark fusions of Indie and Brit pop make this five-piece band certain listening goodness.

Up next are the young and newly formed PRINCETON BLUE. Using a range of influences from 90s R&B and Dance to Pop music, this trio are and will be definite fun!

GIG THREE

Nottingham knows how to party and Sunday will be no exception. Kemet FM celebrates it’s eighth birthday with style and urban sophistication at the Nottingham Playhouse. Titled “Kemet’s Got It”, the list of ridiculously talented musicians on deck prove that Kemet certainly has.

Kick-starting the celebrations for the night are Nottingham sisters ANN AND SONIA. The sweet duo brings a fresh sound to the city’s Reggae scene that pays homage to Rock and British Soul of the 1980s. Known for their Caribbean-esque vibe this duo is certainly not to be missed.

Next up, cranking up the energy is Nottingham’s own KC DA ROOKEE. Taking a break from sharing the stage with Reggae superstar ‘Elephant Man’, this hip hop MC and founding member of the Klinzmann Click will no doubt be dropping bars upon bars upon bars.

For the R&B lover, WREH-ASHA’s soulful vocals are a box of Rhythmic and Blues chocolates –rich and delicious. Attendance on her behalf should be mandatory! Following her, St. Ann’s very own 2TONE AND JAH DIGGA will no doubt rip the stage apart. The duo’s infectious flows and deadly bars flavoured with comedic wit and hype energy will without doubt be a crowd-banger. Catch me at the front swinging my braids to their tunes -in some new crepes of course!

J GOLD is a poetic beast, and fresh from some 1Xtra loving, he is sure to impress on the night NADIA LATOYA is another exciting musician that will certainly add to the night. Her unique fusion of R&B and reggae will be a pleasure for everyone in the crowd.

Everybody knows a Nottingham party is incomplete without someone to ‘turn it up’ –and who better to do that than Radford’s own GINO!? His clever wordplay will certainly murder the mic. Personally, my excitement is uncontainable.

Rounding out the exceptional talent of the night is LISA HENDRICKS. With a voice that can only be described as silk, this young talent may some day rival modern day R&B giants such as Jazmine Sullivan. With a voice that soothes the ears, this will certainly be the right way to end the celebrations.
