After a summer break, the much loved venue Acoustic Rooms is back with a very special gig on 17th September. It’s bigger and better, and the open mic night will showcase some fantastic local talent.

IN THE TEEPEES
Fresh on the scene is Indie acoustic duo IN THE TEEPEES. Delivering catchy guitar riffs and punchy vocals to match, IN THE TEEPEES is no stranger to pulling off a heart-warming performance on stage. Having had an overwhelming reception from playing at Nottingham Riviera, there is no doubt that the young talents will do the same at this gig. Chillax and enjoy while they work their magic!

BRUCE MCCULLEN
Unwind and enjoy the great sounds of BRUCE MCCULLEN. This chap is on the case to tickle your acoustical cravings! So if it’s easy listening alternative pop you’re after, you’re in for a treat. At present, he is working on a new EP and if his current material is anything to go by, you’ll be very impressed. Be sure to catch BRUCE MCCULLEN’s set!

QUERCUS MINOR
A four-part harmony band with wisdom and charm in the palm of their hand. It’s the one and only QUERCUS MINOR, or as known by fans as QM. The Barbershop quartet have been together for about a year, and have built up a well-respected reputation where the word on the street is that this band is a must see. Fuelled with drive and powerful synchronised vocals, QUERCUS MINOR will keep you more than entertained from the get go.

ROGER THE MASCOT
Described by The Chad Newspaper as ‘fun, energetic and a good laugh’, ROGER THE MASCOT will hype up your evening with twangy guitar sequences and eloquent vocals. The electric, indie band have been together for less than 10 months and already have already started to build a name for themselves, gaining a strong following fan base. Repping the Notts music scene whilst headlining the ‘Hog and Barrel’ tent at the YNot Festival!! And to top that off, the quadruples have made it to the regional finals for the Open Mic UK competition. Big things are happening for ROGER THE MASCOT, so keep an eye out for the movement.

ONEGIRLONEBOY
Taking centre stage will be ONEGIRLONEBOY. A one of a kind name for a Slick pop duo. With influences from Johnny Cash, Kate Bush and Fleetwood Mac, ONEGIRLONEBOY record, write, live and breathe the music they produce. They’re no stranger to the gigging scene, living it up in hometown Nottingham and in well-known London venues. In the meantime, check out the soul shaking sounds of the vinyl collection lovers’ EP, to get you in the mood.ONEGIRLONEBOY – ’nuff said.

JOSH KEMP
The man who nails it over and over again is JOSH KEMP. Immerse yourself in the resonate sounds of his expressive vocals and acoustic guitar. A warm hearted performance is what’s on the cards, guaranteed to put a smile on your face! With a new charity single and performances in the pipeline, JOSH KEMP has got it all under the belt.

HUNTING HELEN
Last but not least to the stage is acoustic rock band HUNTING HELEN. The trio are currently cooking up something fresh, with the aim of releasing their first album next year. They’ve drummed up a sunburst of electric bass lines, providing an insanely good vibe. Just the icing on the cake! GIG TWO

For a night of top notch local talent, Under the Tree is always a safe bet and this Thursday’s event is no exception. With 6 home-grown acts taking to the stage, get on down to The Bodega for cheap drinks and cracking music.

FRANKIE RUDOLF
Kicking off the night is acoustic prodigy FRANKIE RUDOLF. Indie folk pop that sticks in your head like a magnet, along with Frankie’s graceful vocals, infectious melodies and his amazing ‘fro have earned him praise as a star on the rise. MIKIE HOWARD
Just one man and his guitar, MIKIE HOWARD takes the stage at half eight. Soulful, acoustic music gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling inside, Mikie’s easy-going melodies are lifted by his subtly powerful vocals. Someone you can see busking around the city centre, keep an ear peeled for local talent MIKIE HOWARD.

THE STEADY SOUND
Next to the mic are folky duo THE STEADY SOUND. Drawing inspirations from the likes of James Taylor, their tight vocal harmonies and lyrics brimming with melancholy are offset perfectly by their completely engaging performances. Something of a Notts hidden gem, catch THE STEADY SOUND at 9pm.

BAND OF JACKALS
Performing a special striped down set for Under the Tree are four-piece BAND OF JACKALS. Having only formed last year, 2012 has seen these lads steadily making a name for themselves on the Notts scene with their infectious blues-infused rock. Renowned for intense live sets with bags of energy, don’t miss BAND OF JACKALS at 9.30. The band is also booked in for a Future Session in October, so keep a look out!

ALEXA HAWKSWORTH
Having played with the likes of Karima Francis and our lad JAKE BUGG, ALEXA HAWKSWORTH will be showing you what she can do with a guitar. Acoustic pop with a touch of soul, her softly soaring vocals combined with sentimental, heartfelt lyrics make for something impossible not to enjoy. Hotly tipped as one to watch, ALEXA HAWKSWORTH will inevitably win your heart.

THE GOLDEN TROUBADOURS
Headlining the event are dreamlike quintet THE GOLDEN TROUBADOURS. With wistful lyrics, silky sweet vocals and atmospheric guitars, their folk-soul-blues hybrid will lift your spirits and take you to acoustic bliss. GIG THREE

A couple of weeks back, we wrote about a very special gig where three of our leading solo female artists play the iconic Theatre Royal. Well the wait is over as this Saturday, NATALIE DUNCAN, NINA SMITH and INDIANA will be taking the stage backed by a fully fledge orchestra.

NINA SMITH
She’s a staple of the Notts soul scene, and this Saturday NINA SMITH will be lending her hand to something completely different. Gifted with songbird vocals and a knack for writing songs that capture the heart, this local lass has earned herself praise and respect on the Notts scene, as well as further afield. A Nusic first play, NINA SMITH will undoubtedly wow you with her set.

INDIANA
Overnight sensation INDIANA will also be playing this incredible event. Since her first ever live performance at this year’s Future Sound of Nottingham semi-finals, INDIANA has become one of the hottest unsigned names in the industry with record labels everywhere trying to land her signature. With a voice that would tug at the hardest of hearts, a performance in this extraordinary setting is sure to be completely spellbinding.

NATALIE DUNCAN
Following the release of her debut album ‘Devil In Me’ back in July, soulful songstress NATALIE DUNCAN will be showing what she can do when backed by an orchestra. Heart-wrenching vocals, bluesy piano and lyrics that encompass all of life’s woes have seen Natalie go from resident pub singer to a Verve Records’ protégée. Sure to give a performance nothing short of enchanting, prepare to fall under NATALIE DUNCAN’s spell. Like how the nation will do with her fourth coming appearance on Jools Holland!!
