Nottingham’s gone a bit festival mad this weekend….

GIG ONE

So this is a weird one – not so much a gig, more of an event this Friday at The Rescue Rooms as Acoustic Rooms cordially invites you to a good ol’ end of summer bash.

Taking a more chilled approach than their normal events, AR are celebrating the most vibrant music scene in the UK by inviting all you music folk to come get merry! We like. All artists are encouraged to bring EPs/demos/CDs &/or flyers/posters for any upcoming events you may have. There’ll also be a few mics knocking around because, let’s face it, with so much musical talent filling the room this will inevitably turn into one big jamming session, so whether it’s a guitar, bass, fiddle or whatever, bring your instrument of choice if you fancy getting involved. We’ll defo be bringing the Nusic Traingle along.

We know this isn’t technically a gig, but it’s a great opportunity for all Nottingham’s music folk to come together in a very spread-the-love fashion – and we just ruddy love that.

GIG TWO

Right. Well. This weekend, Notts has gone into festival overload with two massive local events. First up, we have the debut of the soon-to-be-staple Amazement Festival! Taking place both Saturday & Sunday at Nottingham Racecourse, bringing you a full-blown local music extravaganza all right on your horse racing doorstep.

Brought to you by the musical masterminds at The Maze, this incredible event will be raising money for Framework, NG7 Food Bank & The Lee Bonsall Memorial Fund. With such good causes at it’s heart, Amazement Fest has gone all out to entice you with their musical offerings. These range from Rock ‘n’ Rollers THE SWIINES to HipHop Punk Funkers THE AFTERDARK MOVEMENT all the way through to Electro duo ONEGIRLONEBOY – and that’s only on one stage, on just the Saturday! With the likes of TRAY ELECTRIC, SAM JONES, I AM LONO, CECILLE GREY & BREADCHASERS and so, so many more lined up for the weekend, this event is enough to titillate the tastebuds of any festival lover. You can see Future Sessions with quite a few of these artists HERE.

GIG THREE

Our second festival of the weekend is Notts music staple Macmillan Fest this Saturday. With 33 bands to play across 4 stages, hoping to raise both awareness and money for Macmillan Cancer Support, this is a fantastic annual event that never fails to deliver on incredible music or that warm, fuzzy feeling of contributing to a great cause. Win win baby!

As always, the lineup is H-U-G-E and there is something for everyone, whatever music it is that tickles your pickle. Love to get sweaty with some heavy moshing? EVA PLAYS DEAD, SUICIDE TUESDAY, EMPEROR CHUNG & many more will see to it you get your fix on the Born Wild clothing stage. Alternatively, you can head on over to Mutiny Press stage to ease your hardcore cravings with the likes of THE WINTERHILL SYNDICATE & NO HONOR. Mosh-fest not for you? No problem! Soothe your ears and your feet over at the Nottingham Live Stage with the likes of FSN 2010 champs LONG DEAD SIGNAL, their successors & reigning victors THE GORGEOUS CHANS, JOSH KEMP & HEAVYHEADS. And if you just want to sit back with a bevvy & see some straight up Rock, then let Bad Era Recordings Stage take you to Alternative paradise with SPANGLE CORPS, ADELPHIA & ATTICUS ANTHEM plus many more.

For just £8 a ticket, this really is an event to pen in your diaries.
