Notts music heads, this is your time… Well, it’s always your time, cos Notts is ace, but especially this week, ALMOST every Notts artist you could ever want to see is playing this weekend thanks to the return of Hockley Hustle. And, on top of that, we’ve got a Jazzy EP launch, and a Stoner Doom Rock album launch. Notts – you eclectic beauty, you.

SATURDAY

Fancy a bit of funky Jazz in your life? Well, lucky reader, we’ve got just the gig for you then. ZOO are back after a three year absence with a new release, well, multiple releases actually. The Nu-Jazz band have been working on a bunch of EP’s, the first of which (‘Shoot’) you can get your grubby mitts on this Saturday. But that’s not all reader, oh no, whilst you will only be able to buy the first EP this Sat, the band are treating ya to live previews of EP #2. Ain’t they kind to you?

SATURDAY

BAD MEN take over The Angel this Sat. That is not a dodgy headline from the Daily Mail, but in fact a true statement. More context – Nottingham two-piece, Stoner-Rockers BAD MEN are launching their album at The Angel – Microbrewery establishment. Got it? Good – cos these guys are ACE. Proper in your face heavy riffs, distortion for days and almost Prog like vocals. They’re throwing this little shindig to celebrate the launch of their new album ‘Honeymoon’ – and from what we’ve heard, it’s gonna be MASSIVE. Get down. Mosh. It is the weekend after all.

Notts support comes courtesy of DARK MOTHER, who make super happy Indie-Folk tunes… just kidding, of course they don’t, they make Psychedelic Stoner Doom Rock. Had ya for a second didn’t I? Similar to BAD MEN, this two-piece make epic soundscapes that make ya wanna do a slow mosh, throw your fist in the air, and probably do some form of inaudible scream. All out of pleasure, obvs.

No Nothings from Hull are also playing.

SUNDAY

This Sunday sees the legendary Hockley Hustle return for it’s tenth anniversary. 300 Notts artists, playing across 25 stages, all for charity. Which charities? – CYF Project, Dolly’s Imagination Library, Equation, Framework, John Van Geest Cancer Research Centre, Nottingham Rethink, plus Refugee Forum.

No matter what genre you’re into, there’s 112% gonna be something for you at the Hustle. There’s 300 freakin’ artists playing! Now obvs there’s no way we could write about them all in this Top Three, as that would be less a preview, and more a dissertation. So, what we will do is give you the ticket link (it’s HERE duckeh), give you our NMP HH special (HERE), and pinky promise you, that you’ll have a great time.

And remember – if you don’t go, you hate charity.
