Did you know if you eat seven Easter eggs in quick succession, you get free entry into any gig in Nottingham? Loljk. April fools. Haha. *tumbleweed*.

Anyways, shit jokes out the way, here’s a bunch of awesome gigs you should go to, with or without chocolate…

TUESDAY

Notts in a Nutshell is back at The Maze, as always bringing ya a bunch of ace new Notts artists to check out with them fine tabholes of yours.

Kicking things off we have DAVID OCHROMBEL. Now – we appreciate it’s a big statement, but he’s got more than an air of Springsteen about him. That husky voice. A penchant for old-school songwriting. And very American lyrics (he’s Notts though, we’ve seen his bank statements!). Next up is CROOKED SMILE. A lil bit Rock-y, a lil bit Punk-y. And with a bunch of showmanship, what more can ya ask from a Rock band ay? You might even give a crooked smile (soz). Then, rounding off the night we have the swish Electro-pop sounds of KOMINO. A two-piece, one human on the drums, and one human with more music gear than PMT (good luck at soundcheck gents)! Making super-slick catchy melodies, with a bunch of proper interesting sounds bubbling underneath. And it’s only their second ever gig too. Niceeee.

Sweetness from Lincolnshire are also playing.

WEDNESDAY

CUT THE HEROICS are playing their second headline show this week at the mighty Rough Trade.

Kicking things off we have the EPIC A HUNDRED CROWNS. Post-hardcore-ish done very very well. Killer clean vocals. Epic guitars. Screams for daaaaays. These guys are wicked. Following we have TOGETHERALONE who make some ace… well, it’s kinda heavy rock, but that’s such a wank term. So we’ll call them a really good band, with lots of guitars, and some v catchy choruses too.

And then there’s CUT THE HEROICS. Bringing Notts all the Pop-Punk vibes. Catchy riffs, and a very distinct double-vocal approach from Joe and Stephen. Whether you’re a big fan of the old school Pop-Punk (ala Blink182) or you’re all about the new-school. These guys have got an ace mix of both. And, if you don’t go a bit crazy in the pit, then what are you even doing with your life?

From the soulful vibes of NADIA RAE, through to the stunning songwriting of GALLERY 47. The perfect partners in crime GEORGIA COPELAND & NADIA LATOYA, to the incredible vocal of ABII. They’ve got quite the lineup together. And there’s food. AND PLANTS. THEY’RE SELLING PLANTS GANG.

PS – Transparency Declaration – KOMINO’s front-human is an ex-Nusic intern, who still occasionally helps out on Nusic projects as he is a nice front-human. However, this has not affected our editorial judgement, and we promise you reader, that we could look you in the eye and say that it is genuinely, in our opinion, one of the top three gigs in Notts this week. x
