Hungover from the bank holiday? Well we’ve got just the cure. A showcase of brilliant Notts music at The Maze on Tuesday, an array of Hip Hop and Soul from the Can’t Stop Won’t Stop (CSWS) crew and a Hip Hop takeover on Broad Street.

TUESDAY

Always supporting the local scene, Notts in a Nutshell is a perfect way to hear some new music and ease yourself back from the bank holiday.

Playing loads of gigs around Notts, THE FLAVELLS are putting in the hard work to get their name out there. Experimental Indie Rock’n’Roll, this three-piece have promised to play a new track. Sealed the deal for us.

Pop-Punk five-piece HOMESICK really don’t sound too homesick when smashing it out on the drums. We don’t know too much about these peeps apart from they like to make a noise – a damn good noise at that. Listen to debut single Coming Second for a feel.

Alternative/ Indie three-piece MICHAEL REDDINGTON AND THE ECHOES have only just formed but sound like they’ve been playing together for years. New song The Green is so darn catchy that we’ve been listening to it again, and again, and… (you get the picture).

Five-piece Indie Pop band ASHFIELDS mean business. They have released a studio EP, headlined The Bodega and are on the bill for Dot to Dot festival. We get the feeling these boys won’t stop till they reach the top.

FRIDAY

Back with their monthly dose of Hip Hop and Soul, CSWS have a lineup that will make you wanna shake your booty. It’s also free, can life get any better?

Having gained a lot attention featuring on Electronic duo ONE BOMB’s tunes, GEORGIA COPELAND is on her own musical journey. Her silky soulful voice has a Destiny’s Child type feel and is a blessing from above if you ask us!

Having sent us two bangers that we’ve played on our most recent New Music Podcast, KXNG FOREMAN is quickly becoming a master of the Hip Hop/ Rap game. His energy is infectious and with Soulful, R’n’B vocals from CHAWE and MICHAEL JONES, we’re hooked on his new stuff.

Do you wanna get spacey? Of course you do and there’s no one better to take you there than SPACE CITY. Prepare yourself for Trip-Hop, grimey riddims as this relatively new collective join the stage. There’s a right good buzz about this group and if ‘space is the place’, we don’t wanna be missing out.

You might have seen her busking on the streets but MARITA METELIA is also recording in the studio. Looking to release her first solo album, Marita brings bags of soul to her stripped back ‘one woman, one guitar’ style. Think India Arie vocals with the power of Lauryn Hill, Marita will warm the cockles of your heart.

SATURDAY

Taking over Broad Street, Nottingham record label Iliad presents a day of live music, street food, live art, a music sale and more. Street party feels and it’s all in aid of a good cause!

Broadway

Watch as Nottingham super-group LTMT (Let The Music Talk) unite together alongside a live band. A force to be reckoned with individually, these guys will sure to drop something special. Veteran J.LITTLES continues to impress us with his clever lyricism and smooth beats. Used to performing for royalty (ok that was one time when Prince Harry was in town but still), J makes it clear why he’s part of the Iliad family. You wanted him on the People’s Podcast and we couldn’t have agreed more, RAPHAEL BLAKE’S ‘more than poetry’ is a stunning mix of poignant lyricism and effortless production. ‘Even your shampoo has my heart conditioned’, Blake we can’t get enough of you!

Also on the bill, R’n’B, soul singer Jamie Joseph from that place far, far away (or just across the M1).

Rumhouse

A feast for your ears, Rap king YOUTHORACLE will be stirring up a fuss with his heated bars. You might recognise him from the Don’t Flop battles or the fact he’s got half a million hits on YouTube (woaaaah!). If you didn’t catch him as part of LTMT, make sure you see J GOLD soaking the floor in Hip Hop beats. Iliad brother STAN CROOK-ED will also be performing. His 2014 album Rap Battles released globally was one hell of a smasher and we’re excited to hear something new. KC DA ROOKEE will be bringing his positive energy to the stage. A household name in Hip Hop, KC has opened for the likes of Eminem and Outkast. Also part of LTMT, KAMAR shows his versatility whether rapping, singing, playing Hip Hop or Grime. With new track Losing Myself just out, Kamar also shows he’s got some R’n’B vibes too. Member of EDUCATED FOOLZ, JAH DIGGA will be bracing us with his rap glory along with DOOGIE HOUSER with his impenetrable flow. Westbridge warrior NEGRO LOCO NAY will be bringing the vida loca as well as Big Trev’s CRS graduate 2TONE. SBTV love him and so do we, be sure to catch GARTON as he lays down some juicy Hip Hop beats.
