This week sees yet another great set of gigs for the Nottingham music scene. We’ve got an eclectic mix of local talent at a new venue, a huge festival launch party and a electro-pop spectacular!

GIG ONE

Phlexx are back this Thursday with an eclectic showcase of local talent at the reasonably new venue, Nirvana, and it’s completely free!

Headlining this musical extravaganza is AJA, an eccentric Nottingham lass who uses a combination of icy electronic beats and visual arts to create an unforgettable one of a kind performance. With a very powerful stage presence, you’ll find it near impossible to turn away; and if you’re lucky, she may even spit a few bars for you!

Local kings of Dub-Reggae ORIGIN ONE will be joining AJA on the night just over a week after the launch of their debut album and they will be bringing some huge bassy beats. These guys have a BIG sound, and we have no doubt that the second the first song drops, you’ll be skanking the night away!

Also appearing on the line up are the beautiful harmonies of the Acoustic duo HEAVYHEADS, the angelic tones of Singer-Songwriter JOSH WHEATLEY and the touching lyrics of YAZMIN LACEY, who are all sure to set a much more laid back tone before the madness begins.

GIG TWO

Sounddhism is back at The Bodega this Saturday to satisfy your musical cravings with some incredible local acts, all for the launch party of Soundwave Festival.

NINA SMITH will be accompanied by her full live band to put on what we’re sure will be an incredible performance. With a knack for writing both huge catchy pop songs, and some deep touching ballads, Nina’s live performances are always highly praised, and we’re sure you’ll be leaving The Social with one or two of her melodies stuck in your head!

The explosive dance supergroup that is ONE BOMB will also be making an appearance on the night. It was only a few weeks ago these guys were on the Radio 1 Playlist with “Good Times Roll“, and now they’re back on it again with a remix of their track “Take Over“. These guys have attracted plenty of new fans through their media exposure, and we’re sure it’s just a matter of time before they blow up (sorry); so make sure to get on down and go crazy to their unique House and Garage fusion. Boom!

YOUTHORACLE will also be bringing his grimy bars to the stage. Known for his sharp, speedy flow and thought-provoking lyrics.; Youth always captures the audiences attention, and we’re sure this performance will be no different! That familiar lady YAZMIN LACEY will be bringing her soulful sounds to this spectacular lineup as well.

Hempolics from London will also be performing.

GIG THREE

Last on our Top Three, we have the dark Electro-Pop duo that are PRACTICAL LOVERS, who will be taking over Nottingham Contemporary this Saturday.

This is the first show the boys have played since getting back from their tour of Japan, and you can expect to hear plenty of tracks off their forthcoming album on the night. Their songs may be not be about the happiest of topics, but they manage to hook you into their sad stories with some instantly catchy hooks and melodies.

Supporting the pair are TRAY ELECTRIC, whose electronic dance beats are the perfect accompaniment to the Summer weather we are about to (or hope to) embark on. With an interesting mix of synths and chiptunes he’s sure to set the mood just right for the Lovers performance!

Also on the bill are newcomers THREE GIRL RHUMBA who’s catchy Indie-Pop sounds are bound to get you down to the dancefloor. Despite not being together for that long, they have an extremely polished sound, and already have some huge anthems under their belt.

Doors: 8pm
Price: Free
