December is an absolutely massive month for gigs. You could say it’s like an advent calendar in the lead up to Christmas, but just replace the chocolate with gigs… Anywaay, this week there’s a headline show with tons of Notts support at Rescue Rooms, an album launch/showcase at Rescue Rooms and Folk filled album launch at a 700 year old venue.

GIG ONE – Wednesday

APRIL TOWERS are headlining Rescue Rooms on Wednesday! It’s been a massive year for the duo, getting tons of National radio play as well as ‘A Little Bit of Fear’ being put on the Fifa 16 Soundtrack (meaning the millions of Fifa players from across the world have that song stuck in their head. What was I saying about massive year again?). The show is part of their ‘Modern Psyche’ UK headline tour, promoting the release of their new single with the same name. They will be sharing their incredibly catchy Electro-Pop with huge choruses through a lively performance.

Support comes from EYRE LLEW. The three-piece played an amazing set last Friday at Our City and left the room in awe at their Ambient Acoustic ethereal sound. Having played fewer than 10 gigs in their time together, they have an incredible live set (including some proper fancy lights).

SUSPECT ALIBI will be bringing some Indie Rock to the night. The FSN 2015 winners have been gigging around Notts a lot recently. Their growingly refined sound is created through the use of synth keys and catchy riffs making for choruses that you can’t help but attempt to sing along to.

JOSH WHEATLEY is also performing. He creates Indie Pop with a dark twist through the use of his soulful voice. His latest EP ‘Close’ has a more Electronic feel than previous pieces, demonstrating his maturing sound.

GIG TWO – Friday

Our Artist of the Month, THEPETEBOX, is having an album launch at Rescue Rooms on Friday! He released ‘Future Loops’ back in 2012, but ‘Use The Fire’ will be his first album with all original content. After starting beatboxing over 10 years ago, this man has got a lot of experience in the trade. This will be the final date of his headline tour, so it’s sure to be a massive night. You can hear all about the making of THEPETEBOXs new album, how he got into Beatboxing and his experience of touring across the world in an interview we did with him HERE. Make sure you head down to hear a sneak peek of the new album.

Support comes from THE CHASE who formed all the way back in 2007, and they’ve been putting in the graft since then! Their refined Rock and Roll sound with a grunge-esque twist is influenced by bands such as Oasis and The Smiths.

Also supporting are Too Many T’s from London.

GIG THREE – Saturday

DH LAWRENCE & THE VAUDEVILLE SKIFFLE SHOW (catchy name that, init?) are releasing their debut album ‘Sons and Lovers’ on Saturday. The five-piece formed back at the start of 2012. As well as having a bit of a thing for Mr Lawrence himself, the ‘collective of skifflers’ (as they like to be called) create an amalgamation of Americana, Folk and Skiffle, which makes a unique, but very beautiful, sound. The launch takes place at the 700 year old Beauvale Priory, which is sure to make the evening extra special.

LUKE WHITTEMORE will be sharing his beautiful Country Folk on the evening. Telling stories of his past experiences with an Americana influenced sound. Luke has travelled across the UK and Europe in recent years, sharing his unique sound as he goes.

FRANKIE VACUUM will be supporting too. Creating comedic Folk/Rock and performance poetry, helmet-wearing Frankie is originally from Hartlepool but has settled in the great city of Nottingham. He has some very unique songs such as ‘Where Are All The Baby Pigeons At?’ (seriously though, where are they?) and a political parody called ‘Mr Toad’ – we’ll leave you to guess about who that’s about.

Also performing is Daz Capp from Cleethorpes.
